Put one or more refreezable ice packs in the cooler, and wrap the tefillin bag in a thick, dry towel.

I suppose you could put a thermometer in or next to the tefillin bag, ideally one that records the max temperature, and check it after it’s been in the hot car all day.

“The Federal Government did NOT prosecute and Police in the George Floyd murder, neither did the defund the police.”

Someone who posts that sentence is not qualified to criticize someone else’s grammar.

    “They is a pronoun,”

That’s a grammatical microgression. Now I’m going to need therapy.

The guy was arrested, charged, and released without bail.

The suspect, 29-year-old Jordan Burnette, was granted supervised release by Judge Tara Collins in Bronx Criminal Court — hours after he was ordered held on bail on 42 charges stemming from his alleged 11-day crime spree, said Patrice O’Shaughnessy, a spokeswoman for the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.

A totally non-connected comment to the discussion that the Constitution requires all people residing in the US be counted.

The purpose of this discussion is to celebrate the fact that the 2020 Census results may help get the anti-American morons out of the White House and the Congress.

Republican states gained House seats and electoral college representation whereas Democrat states overall lost.

To be specific, the Red states gained three House seats and Electoral College votes, while the Blue states lost three. Hopefully that six seat/vote advantage will help the 2022 and 2024 elections put the nation back in the hands of the people who want to improve it, not destroy it.

How was Hatzalah of Florida operating until now, before this new law?

The bill wasn’t needed simply for Hatzalah to exist. The bill authorizes them to use flashing red lights and sirens on their vehicles and to respond to emergencies:

Volunteer Ambulance Services: Authorizing certain medical staff of a volunteer ambulance service to use red lights on a privately owned vehicle under certain circumstances; authorizing vehicles of volunteer ambulance services to show or display red lights and operate emergency lights and sirens under certain circumstances; authorizing privately owned vehicles belonging to certain medical staff of a volunteer ambulance service to display or use red warning signals under certain circumstances; providing that county and municipal governments may not limit, prohibit, or prevent volunteer ambulance services from responding to emergencies or providing emergency medical services or transport within their respective jurisdictions, etc.

Well it passed, so you can calm down now.

Fortunately, the Combating Public Disorder bill became law a week ago, so when the leftist mob starts protesting volunteer ambulance services, the violence will be limited.

Things happen in pressure situations. Why was he under arrest?

“Authorities said the car was pulled over for having an expired registration and after determining the driver had an outstanding warrant, police said they tried to arrest him. The driver then re-entered the vehicle, and an officer fired, striking him, police said. The vehicle traveled several blocks before striking another vehicle. … Court records show Wright was being sought after failing to appear in court on charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit during an encounter with Minneapolis police in June. In that case, a statement of probable cause said police got a call about a man waving a gun who was later identified as Wright.”

In short, Chauvin’s defense attorneys will likely make a credible case, backed by evidence, that Floyd’s death was not caused by the knee on his neck but by the battered condition of his heart, …

That may be true, but the prosecution has argued that the police have a responsibility to do all they can to keep a person in their custody healthy, especially if he’s restrained, i.e. in handcuffs.

Of course, this whole mess wouldn’t have happened if the guy had simply cooperated with the police. And his resistance may have been due to the fact that half the politicians in the country have been aiding and abetting the BLM and “defund the police” lunatics, rather than encouraging people to respect law enforcement agencies.

There wasn’t a video of him refusing to comply & resisting.

The police body cam videos showed him resisting and screaming like an ape from the moment they first approached him, when he was in the driver’s seat of his own vehicle.

Two or three officers spent several minutes trying to get him to sit in the back seat of their squad car. His lack of cooperation was why they eventually had to give up and put him on the ground.

The issue is not that they had to use force. That was obviously necessary. The issue is that (according to the prosecution) three officers kept him face down on the ground, in handcuffs, too long. (The fourth officer at the scene was focused on keeping an angry group of spectators away.) And after he lost consciousness, they made no attempt to resuscitate him. It wasn’t until the ambulance arrived that he was turned over and put on the stretcher.

    I’ve been watching the trial.

Multiple Minneapolis police supervisors have testified that placing a detainee in the prone (face-down) position on the ground, with his arms handcuffed behind his back, makes it hard for him to breathe, and that the detainee should be moved onto his side, or into a seated or standing position, as soon as possible. There’s also been testimony that all Minneapolis police officers, including Chauvin, know that through their training.

And multiple police body cam videos show that the detainee was held in that prone, handcuffed position for nine minutes, even after he became unresponsive.

The defense hasn’t started its case yet, though.

I’m not American, so as a somewhat objective outsider, in my humble observation, the media reaction to the incident on the Capitol has been a ridiculous unprecedented tirade of anti-Trump propaganda. And the hypocrisy, by comparing their reaction to the beyond-comparison more violent riots over the last year, is outrageously astonishing.

    That’s absolutely correct.

The Democratic “leaders” expressing outrage over the incident are ultra-hypocrites. They’ve been encouraging violent street rioting for years, including burning buildings, looting businesses and attacking the police. If anyone in authority deserves blame for the attack on the Capitol, they do.

President Trump has consistently advocated for law and order and the arrest and prosecution of criminals.

What I’m wondering is, how do we know there won’t be serious side-effects that only show up after a few years? I guess we have to trust the medical experts on that.

Rudy – Hand recounts will not change anything
Powell – The computer system counting the votes changed the numbers
Explain how these two positions are consistent.

The Giuliani/Powell press conference described different instances of fraud that occurred. One kind involved misusing voting machines, which could be resolved by a manual recount. Another kind involved accepting fraudulent mail-in ballots, which would not be resolved by recounting the (fraudulent) ballots.

There’s nothing wrong with voting by mail, provided that there are adequate safeguards in place to prevent abuse.

Mass-mailing unsolicited ballots to everyone is obviously ripe for abuse.

In Florida, any registered voter can request a vote-by-mail ballot, for any reason. But there are safeguards at both ends (requesting the ballot and processing a received ballot).

If the legislatures of the states certify a winner, the courts will be loathe to set those certifications aside.

Are the states free to establish their own rules, or do they have to follow federal rules? For example, if a state chose to decide the winner of an election by flipping a coin, or if they let dogs vote, does the federal government have to accept that?

    I just read the following:

After states certify their results, the electors of the Electoral College will convene on Dec. 14 in their respective states to cast one ballot for president and one for vice president.

Those results are then delivered to the Capitol, where on Jan. 6, 2021, the Senate and House of Representatives will meet for a joint session in the House chamber to count the electoral votes.

When the votes have been counted and one ticket has received a majority of 270 or more electoral votes, the vice president, who presides as president of the Senate, will announce the results.
