I don’t know, but what I do know is that schools should be secured. Where are the guards, where are the locked doors? How can a child walk in with guns? Where are the metal detectors? It is terrible that the world is in such a crazy state, but why are kids allowed to walk the halls with guns? All doors should be locked and only one should stay open to the public with two guards at the door. When will that be understood?
December 15, 2013 1:51 am at 1:51 am in reply to: Everyone Must Answer: What Is YOUR Favorite Dish (food) #1184479doodle jumpParticipantSteak. Definitely steak.
doodle jumpParticipantDY, I know that everything is min hashamayim, but this is nuts. You hear crazy people, who, by the way, nobody suspected as being nutcases, going into schools and doing these horrible things.
Unfortunately, we have seen this in the past number of years and even before that. Where is the security? What have they learned about securing schools? There was a report on NBC about a reporter who was able to walk into schools without any difficulties. What are the guards for? This is so scary
February 21, 2012 3:53 am at 3:53 am in reply to: New news story- OTD Lakewood woman with 4 kids wants custody #857131doodle jumpParticipantDo you know the lady ? Her children? Her story? I am sure you will answer “NO” to all of these questions. Lay off. Let her and her Ex deal with the situation. Not of our business.
I wish them much Hatzlacha in this nisayon.
doodle jumpParticipantI can play that little metal triangle that comes with a little metal rod. “Ding”. “Ding”
doodle jumpParticipantPopa: Funny:) I never understood people who go to Dunkin and order tea. Why would you pay for tea when you can make it at home.
Coffee is a totally different thing. Dunkin donuts coffee is the best. Much, much better than starbucks. I find that starbucks coffee is very bitter.
doodle jumpParticipantAdds for yearbook or any journal are crazy high, but that’s how they raise the money. The truth is that publishing a yearbook is very expensive. They way we do it is, all the aunts, uncles and cousins get together and put one page add. Doing it this way is reasonable and you can list EVERYBODY:) Mazal Tov:)
doodle jumpParticipantHow would you feel if it was your son?
doodle jumpParticipantHodu L’HaShem Ki Tov. Ki L’olam Chasdo:) Baruch HaShem. HaShem always takes care of us. No matter what. Let the goyei ha’amim see how much we value a jewish neshama. I can’t believe it is true. WOW. IY”H Gilad will have Refuas Hanefesh V’guf very soon. Amazing. Two weeks after rosh hashana.
October 10, 2011 10:37 pm at 10:37 pm in reply to: Dear Teacher, can you give us a little break?! #816701doodle jumpParticipantsqueak: I am not giving her a hard time. Chas v’eshalom. I am just expressing my opinion.
October 10, 2011 9:00 pm at 9:00 pm in reply to: Dear Teacher, can you give us a little break?! #816698doodle jumpParticipantThat is the whole point. You don’t have to study with her. Have her sit in the kitchen and let her do her homework, while you are doing your work. It’s not your job. She should know the material.
write a note to the teacher, saying that she did her homework by herself. Ask the the teacher if she knew the material. The school day is so long. It is still hot outside. No one is expecting them to do more than a chazara.
doodle jumpParticipantWhen life gives you lemon, make lemon meringue pie, lemon ices, lemonade and lemon chicken. Yumm.
October 10, 2011 8:39 pm at 8:39 pm in reply to: Dear Teacher, can you give us a little break?! #816694doodle jumpParticipantHi Deizy, You have to be clear in how much Homework was given.
Homework means a repetition of classwork as a means of staying on top of things. If the teacher asked the children something that was very difficult and needed a parents’ assistance, it is one thing. Then you have a valid complaint. But if the teacher asked them to just review ( on their own ) the work, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Keep in mind though, that if your child is having a hard time with it, the teacher ought to know about it, so she can review the material with your child.
doodle jumpParticipantMiritchka: I really don’t think that by receiving a discount he is forgoing his mitzvah. People want to show appreciation for those tzadikim. When a Rebbi gets a chanukkah gift from a parent, is he forgoing his mitzvah of teaching Torah? Of course not. A parent wants to show appreciation. Let him receive the discount. He deserves it. I really don’t see any problem with it.
doodle jumpParticipantHave you tried to discuss the problem with her parents? What do they say? I am sorry about your situation. Nobody wants to be in a situation that is so unpleasant. I assume that if you are going, it must be that going somewhere else is not in the picture.
Just stay out of her way. Don’t be overly friendly. Good morning. Good night. Good yom tov and that’s it. Don’t expect an answer.
doodle jumpParticipantTaking a break, I find milchig to be more patchkarai then fleishig.
Popa: I wonder what you’d consider “more filling”.
doodle jumpParticipantI really don’t see any problem with it. They are volunteers without specific hours, or time. When you have a volunteer, he/she has a set time. Not these guys. They are always on call. Shabbos, Yom Tov, Sedarim, Shul, Seudos, you name it. Their families are also amazing, since they are in this together. We should show them appreciation as much as we can because without them, good luck.
doodle jumpParticipantAll beautiful names:)
doodle jumpParticipantgb: Whom were you referring to?
doodle jumpParticipantTFG: They are doing it Lishma, but if a person wants to show his appreciation, What is wrong with that?
doodle jumpParticipantSome S’fardi names are: Tzion, Rachamim, Mazal, and different English or French names, depending which country they came from.
doodle jumpParticipantTomer, Ofer and Ro-ee are modern Israeli names. Not Ashdenazi or S’fardi.
doodle jumpParticipantEach Hatzalah member is a Mal’ach from HaShem. HaShem should shower them with all that is good.
doodle jumpParticipantOne of my fondest memories is watching my father build the sukkah on motzei yom kippur. He is holding the hammer and I am holding the can with the nails 🙂 We had a beautiful sukkah.
doodle jumpParticipantThank you for posting even though the thread was closed:)
I have read “in every generation” a few times already. It is such an awesome book. It gives me chizuk every time that i read it.
It makes you appreciate all that you have and makes you marvel at a person’s Emunah and Bitachon through the toughest of times
doodle jumpParticipantHow many children did Binyamin have?
doodle jumpParticipantPlease don’t jump to the next question until the first one was answered. It gets confusing and believe it or not, I do like learning the answers.
doodle jumpParticipantThis is such blanket statement. You can’t group people together like that. There are rich people among s’fardim and rich among ashkenazim too. Most people that I know, have a two income family and not every woman wants to stay home all day long.
doodle jumpParticipantI like this idea. I hope I can answer some of them.
doodle jumpParticipantCan somebody please answer my question that I posted earlier.
Why don’t we say BD”E on a non jew. I really want to know.
October 6, 2011 3:26 am at 3:26 am in reply to: Urgent Tefilos Needed for Newborn Rivka Bas Sara Raizel #814722doodle jumpParticipantRefuah Shelaima baby Rivka bas Sara Raizel. I hope you feel better very, very soon.
doodle jumpParticipantWhat does TOMO stand for?
doodle jumpParticipantI am not sure why we don’t say it. Anyone knows the reason why?
doodle jumpParticipantWe don’t say BD”E on a non jew, but he was a person, made b’tzelem H’. I heard he had cancer. Terrible illness.
doodle jumpParticipantAsk your pediatrician about melatonin. It really works, but you need to ask. Before you give it though, try the same routine for about a week or two. Supper, homework, bath and bedtime story. Sometimes, a routine is all that is needed. I have a couple of friends who give their children melatonin ,with physician’s advise and it works. Good luck. A tired, cranky child is not a happy child. Nighty night:)

doodle jumpParticipantYehuda Tzvi,
How was your yom tov? I am thinking about you. I hope you are feeling better. IY”H you will be on the road to complete refuah and yeshua very, very soon.
October 2, 2011 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm in reply to: source for not buying stuff for a baby before its born needed #813830doodle jumpParticipantWhen I was expecting my first, many years ago:), I just had a feeling that it will be a girl. I needed something to bring the baby home from the hospital with, so I purchased this pink stretchie with white ruffles in the back. The cutest thing ever. I still have it. And yes, it was a girl. I don’t know if I would do it again though. Ask a shaila.
doodle jumpParticipantI wish you a Refuah Shelaima B’karov. May this new year, which is right on our door steps, bring you a quick and complete refuah. All the best to you and may you be blessed with much bracha and hatzlacha.
doodle jumpParticipantI flipped through it last night.I did not watch it. Why were they airing the telethon from 2009?
doodle jumpParticipantThere are a lot of things to see in Rome. For one thing, there is a Jewish community there and definitely old Shul buildings and old Jewish neighborhoods. There are many things to see in Rome besides Churches.
doodle jumpParticipantJust be there for him/her. If your sibling is receptive to hear what you have to say, great. If not, don’t push!! Stay in touch, always show that you care and still love your sibling. Be there for him/her. Don’t forget that this is his/her nisayon and could use all the love, letting your sibling know that you will always be there.
doodle jumpParticipantMontreal
doodle jumpParticipantRefuah Shlaima. IY”H all will be great. IY”H they will both start the new year with wonderful health and go M’ Chayil L’Chayil.
doodle jumpParticipantSorry about the shaytel. I am sure it is extremely frustrating to spend so much money and then this, but please refrain from using “Chemo” to explain your point. No one should ever have to go through it.
doodle jumpParticipantI used to always listen to Acapella. About three years ago I heard or read somewhere that it is not so recommended. An example that was given was: You would not sing in a house of Aveilus. Right? I don’t know the precise halacha for it, but when I hear it put that way, It makes a lot of sense to me.
doodle jumpParticipantYou have a Seudah. The family gathers together and a Siyum Mishnayos is made L’iluy Neshama.
doodle jumpParticipantHi coffee addict. I too am a coffee addict:)
It all depends on the crowd they are trying to raise money from. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think ” our place” is an organization that deals with kids who are going through hard times.
What ever it takes, I wish them much hatzlacha. I hear they are doing amazing things.
doodle jumpParticipantFor a Sunday trip, how about an IMAX film. There are some wonderful films about animals, the universe, etc.
For a few days, Lake George, New Hampshire, Amish country. I personally love to tour D.C. True, the summer is hot and humid in the Baltimore area, but there are so many wonderful museums to enjoy. Good Luck and have a safe trip:)
doodle jumpParticipantI personally feel that most people can benefit from a number of therapy sessions. Life is so hectic and busy. We try to do so much and be there for so many people who count on us. Maybe 15 20 years ago it was considered taboo but not anymore. Every person must dedicate time for for him/her self so they can be functioning in a healthy mental state. Go for it.
