In regard to atomic clocks, would all clocks be a little off since you carried it home from the store?
“In your case the two men would still observe the events differently (i.e. different intervals of time between the two lightning strikes) due to the fact that the train is moving.”
Yes, but the man on the platform will not see the strikes at the same time. This should prove that it is not only movement which can change your perception.
Also, if the man on the train had super long hands and one was in front of the train and and the other in back, he would feel both strikes at the same time. this should show that time has not slowed. And even though he sees them at different times, that’s because of the fact that the back light hasn’t hit him, but it’s still there.Doing my bestParticipantAvram,
I was thinking more about the train mashal and i don’t get it. Suppose the man on the platform was not at the middle of the train, but closer to the front. He would also see the strikes not as simultaneous, but rather he would see the front one first because it’s a shorter distance. this should prove that the train example has nothing to do with the train moving.Yserbius,
Why is time for him moving faster?Joseph,
I’m not running to college just because you want to sound sophisticated, please explain or don’t make things sound even more complicated.Anyone know how to explain this stuff simply?
And anyone know what a wormhole would do and how you can make one?November 1, 2018 2:02 am at 2:02 am in reply to: Vegas Massacre: 59 Good Reasons to Outlaw Automatic Weapons #1614822Doing my bestParticipantRedleg,
that type of uprising wouldn’t be neccessary, or if it was, it wouldn’t work nowadays for 2 reasons.1) easy access to a powerful social/media, therefore the governor wouldn’t be able to ignore it the problems with the voting issues.
2) the reason the uprising worked is because the national guard took to long to come, now days can they come much faster.
Besides, those same citizens are the ones who might believe that jews are evil and go shoot a bunch of them.
Doing my bestParticipantThanks Meno, dovid, and avram.
Joseph,
i have no idea what you’re talking about.October 29, 2018 12:30 am at 12:30 am in reply to: Vegas Massacre: 59 Good Reasons to Outlaw Automatic Weapons #1612146Doing my bestParticipantIs there anyone who here who does not believe that the US should ban all large round guns?
if we do that, then you can’t really massacre anyone and all problems solved.
someones going to ask about street gun crimes, so i’ll preempt them that most of it doesn’t involve citizens and is usually criminal on criminal. So gun crime probably helps prevent robberies from none-criminal-involved families.Doing my bestParticipantI saw somewhere that the bombs were set on a timer. if so how could they have been meant to kill the target, you can’t predict down to the second when he will get it?!
(poor republicans who claimed/still claim it was a liberal, the guy was a die-hard trumpist)
Doing my bestParticipantAnyone who doesn’t think it could be liberal hasn’t been following the news recently, they’ll stoop to anything. At the same time however, there is an equal chance that it is some angry trump supporter.
I just don’t understand why Republicans are saying it is for sure a liberal when they have no way of knowing if it is, and have a large chance of being made to look like fools.Doing my bestParticipant1,
Although i’d love to win, statistically, 70% of winners go broke within 5 years of winning.Doing my bestParticipantThis is a major chillull hashem, and might even be some form of retzicha by proponents of anti-vax.
where are all the rabbanim who should be coming out and making asifos? in lakewood i have even heard rumors (they don’t sound so right, but are always possible) that certain major establishment rabbanim support anti-vaxxersDoing my bestParticipant646,
previously you said a two state solution would be best for Israel because it would give them the ability to destroy infrastructure. However, now you said no one will be funding this infrastructure, so Israel still won’t be able to bomb anything.
Besides what would stop the government of the new state from putting human shields near all military targets like they do now in Gaza? (by storing weapons and tunnel entrances in residential areas)October 24, 2018 10:47 pm at 10:47 pm in reply to: The failures of lottery winners don’t mean that winning the lottery is bad. #1610439Doing my bestParticipantstatistically, (i just googled it) 70% of lottery winners go broke.
Jewish people are normally more financially successful than average, so wouldn’t most of the people in the CR have at least a 60% chance of having a nice post lottery life?Doing my bestParticipant000646,
You seem to believe that a one arab state solution is the best, however there will be an easily understandable consequence for Israel if this happens- simply the new citizens now have access to the weapons and facilities of the country formerly known as Israel, and there will be 6.5 million Jews killed in a second holocaust.
f you want a two state solution, the population of the landmass of Israel just doubled, who’s paying the trillions of dollars for infrastructure?Doing my bestParticipantIs it too much gashmiyus to be poor? it sounds so enjoyable!
And RY23,
just wondering, why do you have a crown?Doing my bestParticipant646,
the Fakestanians have gaza which was given (maybe back to them, i don’t know) to them by israel to create peace as part of a deal, look what happened- terrorist attacks every day, intense rocket fire on and off. If you give them even more land why will it be any different than what happened to gaza?
Also the Fakestanians don’t want a two state solution as proven by the fact that they chant “from the river to the sea”- that means the entire israel, not half!Doing my bestParticipantDaasYochid,
Can we sign a shtar that if you ever come onto more than a million dollars (be it a yerushah, lottery or investment etc.) I get it?Doing my bestParticipantWhat are proponents of guns saying to explain why they need assault rifles?
Why can’t everyone agree to keep only handguns legal for only those without a history of violence?Doing my bestParticipantIf we do a one or even two state solution, the population of the land mass of Israel will double, who’s paying the trillions of dollars for brand new cities and infrastructure?
And also if you think Israel should kill all Palestinians the “goyish college liberal” is probably right that you’re evil. I don’t believe even 75% of Palestinians are all into terrorism or there would have been 4 million at the Friday protests, not just a couple thousand.
Doing my bestParticipantWhy isn’t Gaza a good enough state for those who want a new arab state?
Doing my bestParticipantso i think we all agree (on the assumption that a joint jewish-arab cannot happen) that there is no possible peace plan.

you’re right that the Israeli’s don’t mind living with Arabs, but they do want to live in a jewish country.

yes, but if the state which beats up religious jews would go kaput, so would all the religious jews who they beat up.
Ever thought of that?
besides, when there was a video of that chossid from an illegal hachnosas sefer torah, the cops arrested beat up the chossid and i don’t think anyone would say the cops are wrong.October 14, 2018 10:04 pm at 10:04 pm in reply to: President Donald Trump, Oheiv Yisroel Par Excellence #1604480Doing my bestParticipantI don’t think Trump is actually moshiach as I’ve always imagined moshiach as bieng jewish. However it would seem to be obvious that he is a shliach from hashem to put the world in the matzav of mashiach.

last year we went to a path train station (grover st.) in jersey city, took it to the oculus station which is right by the 9/11 memorial.
Doing my bestParticipantTrump Fan,
Because if you did that in the US, there would be no time for the forty years of legal process which is in the constitution. (court case, appeals.)Redleg,
I have to assume you didn’t notice that I corrected myself to say “to any position with the power to introduce laws”.
And I’m not sure what your point was by saying the current gun laws, please explain.Doing my bestParticipantIf you took a billion dollars, you’d have to make your aliyah real fast.
Doing my bestParticipantFine, so switch question to “if you were a person with the power to introduce laws.”
Doing my bestParticipantJersey Jew,
I don’t understand, so if I take a rabbit and torture it every day and people stand there protesting, it’s not a chillul hashem because ” Just because someone doesn’t like it. doesn’t make it a chilul HaShem.”?-so then what is a chillul hashem?
And just because you think they don’t really care about the chicken, it’s not a chillul hashem to those who see the protest on TV and do care about the chicken.

people need more than basic necessities.“once an individual has a minimal level of income, they decide to work less.”
if they wanted a comfortable life style they would need to earn at least as much as the value of the benefits. therefore they would still try to earn more than the income limit thereby being removed from the benefits. It would work better than universal income because there are much lower income limits.
Doing my bestParticipantAkupurma,
I love how you don’t answer the question and instead attack me.
my question was about the history of yarmulkes, when they started? out of curiosity.Doing my bestParticipant“Just because people object to something for the wrong reasons doesn’t mean that there isn’t a real reason to object.”

“The reason why we use chickens is because according to the MB it’s preferable to money.”
Thank you for not attacking me, you actually answered my question!“If the world realizes that tefillin is made of real leather.”
“Bris Mila is another chillul Hashem.”
you simply attacked me without even trying to understand what I meant.
when I said “another halachacly equal to chicken solution for kaparos” I very obviously meant only if we can replace it, as opposed to bris and tefillin. To all those who said there is no chilul hashem to the protesters, that may be, but there is a chilul hashem to those who hear about the protests. and even if elsewhere is a bigger chilul hashem, here can still be one also.

when i said that I didn’t mean at all in the ecomonic area as he does really care about the welfare of the country(I think Kim also does).
However he would abolish a large part of free speech-mainly saying bad about him-as we see from the way he reacts when someone does whether its true or not.“the power of the courts”
I meant the ppower of the supreme cort to abolish his would be laws.Doing my bestParticipantAnd by the way he would be doing it because 1)he enjoys being in control

I do believe trump is an extremely good pres for the USA. however i also realize that he is a bigot and left with to much power he would turn into a disaster. (for example, saying the writer of the NYT letter is guilty of treason and is a threat to national security)
