So basically no one knows what issur they are discussing here, and the questioner doesn’t know why it should be asssur, yet you are going to figure it out. Figure what out? Is this a Sholem Aleichem short story?

dnetskMemberInteresting question. A couple years back I started learning Ramban in English. I think it was a mistake. I can’t remember what happened but I got very disheartened about the Yidden in the Midbar. I started feeling really sorry for them. Like couldn’t H’ just bring them in without all this?

You are talking about a promise made by H’ that he intends to keep; see Rebbe Akiva laughing at foxes on Har HaBayis, Makkos, 24B. Everything else is commentary; i.e., the rest of secular history, i.e., the year of 711, when Moslems began their imperialistic quest, religious killings, and land grabs. Fast forward to today, and all we can do is wonder when the final confrontation with Yishmael will occur. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Chazal tell us that the interpersonal doings between the Avos and the population B’Aretz, are indicators of future events. So keep laughing! There’s nothing else you can do!
dnetskMemberThink about him at length.
dnetskMemberYa might want to check Rashi and Tosfos.

Are you asking if Jews were the first to occupy the land? Why don’t you tell us where the “Palestinians” actually came from, as in, from what country. Also, tell us who created the word “Palestine.” Please, we need a history lesson from you.
dnetskMemberI believe the question was if there WAS a kosher DD. Enough with the lectures.

dnetskMemberSonei Matanos Yichyeh (someone said that I’m sure, good mkor)
dnetskMemberToo heavy. Which is all from takeout and also things cooked with tons of flour and oil and fat. Astronomically high calories, very little nutrition.
dnetskMemberIf Talmud Torah Kneged Kulam, it is astonishing that it would be banned for any other reason other than saraconos nefashos which would have been a problem in Europe. Having said that Minhagei Yisroel Kedoshim Haim, and a rav would need to be consulted today. I don’t see any quoted here. The gemara gives the name without a vav. Commentaries do suggest many gemara citations of the same name, so it’s not clear who it is, at all, by any stretch in the gemara stories.
dnetskMember“Bal Teshuvah Movement” always irks me. I understand people like labels. But somehow it is the N word of Judaism. I just really dislike labels especially ones that people use to make themselves feel superior.
dnetskMemberLOL such a cute topic
dnetskMemberI find the level of sarcasm sickening to the point of having to barf. Wow, you’re just really so sarcastic and smart. If by some chance you’re being serious, you’re basically saying you have no ability to concentrate, and would rather blame that on the people around you and denigrate others than focus on yourself. Nice going! You win!
dnetskMemberSome here have described the stifling nature of Frumkeit. I have noticed that even within Frumkeit, there is this strange expression of a secular desire. I almost find it funny. People get a little bit of money and they start tiling everything in the house. No big screen TV, no. CH’V. But ostentatious spending of money to prove… what? And the enjoyment is… what? Oh, man, I’m really happening. I have four sinks and 10 bathrooms, and look at all this… tile! The fetish of collecting electronics is also bizarre. As is the absorption in texting on a smart phone. What is all this incessant urgent communication about? Gemara? And the whole smoking and drinking and single malt liquor craze… And then some people are astonished when one jumps from the puddle into the pool.
December 5, 2014 8:55 pm at 8:55 pm in reply to: Is it ever appropiate to talk back to a Rebbi? #1046195dnetskMemberI have no problem being very right wing in terms of just flat out making it assur to talk back. Kids do not have a right to talk back in a smart alecky way to their rebbi. It is just wrong for myriad reasons. I don’t think the topic was regarding “abuse.” I will tell you as a former teacher, that parents send their kids off for a form of sophisticated babysitting and are VERY defensive about what they hear, so much so that many resist calling. It is one of the hardest jobs there is. And education can be way down the list of the things you do in your work day.
