Flag football is a great alternative.
October 29, 2014 1:47 pm at 1:47 pm in reply to: When will Boro Park have a Shabbos Project and host thousands of BTs? #1038418dial427436MemberIvory, you hit the nail on the head, why does me picking up the phone need to be a public thing, maybe someone is looking for a the honor!?
AZOI.IS: I’m not interested in answering your question, this whole thread is you taking shots at a whole community/type of yidden(which to me sounds counter productive, would you tell that to your fellow “potential BTs”). This excitement of having a large Shabbos together is very beautiful but is hardly a success.
October 28, 2014 7:13 pm at 7:13 pm in reply to: When will Boro Park have a Shabbos Project and host thousands of BTs? #1038407dial427436MemberLike I said before pick up the phone and make a call, you’ll have more success bringing a non observant Jew closer to Hashem by a making a relationship/friendship with a him/her than a huge program(unless maybe it was consistent). Also try not making it sound like “potential” BTs are projects, they are people with feelings too.
October 28, 2014 3:37 pm at 3:37 pm in reply to: When will Boro Park have a Shabbos Project and host thousands of BTs? #1038405dial427436MemberYour excitement of planning/having an event is blinding you to what kiruv is and how to bring people close to the Hashem. There are plenty of chassidishe yidden that help mekarev non religious Jews and don’t need a huge program, as nice as it may be.
October 28, 2014 1:54 pm at 1:54 pm in reply to: When will Boro Park have a Shabbos Project and host thousands of BTs? #1038402dial427436MemberIf you really cared about each Jew you wouldn’t wait for some “shtotty” guy to make some project. Make the calls and invite the secular yiddin yourself.
dial427436MemberVery fair, I’m surprised it took 7 dates to be revealed. I have heard of a similar story where the girl asked if he would stop and he went cold turkey. I’m pretty sure they got married not sure if he’s still holding out.
August 18, 2014 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm in reply to: In Austin the Orthodox rabbi is paid $100,000 a yr #1028580dial427436MemberI noticed, malbim is a very amusing poster. It’s like when a little kid argues, “you’re wrong, no you’re wrong”, end of argument lol
August 18, 2014 4:56 pm at 4:56 pm in reply to: In Austin the Orthodox rabbi is paid $100,000 a yr #1028578dial427436Membermalbim no you are wrong, prove it?!?!
August 15, 2014 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm in reply to: In Austin the Orthodox rabbi is paid $100,000 a yr #1028570dial427436MemberHe left because that rabbi found a position paying $1,000,000.
August 12, 2014 10:04 pm at 10:04 pm in reply to: Girl I want to get engaged to wants me to change my Rabbi #1047163dial427436MemberWhy are so many of you being negative nancy?
To the negative ones: Many of you state “I don’t really know or am sure that I don’t have all the info on the topic” then you give very harsh criticism. With the little info you do know, why the hard words for this young man. you can’t rebuke unless you have the whole story.
Rebbedovid I would suggest to stay cool and not get yourself crazy about what she said. I once had a rebbe I was so close with, I practically lived in his house. I do remember when someone would say they don’t agree with him I would get a little defensive because of my close relationship to him. So I’m asking could it be since you have a close connection to your rebbe that with the words of the woman you are dating have made you a little defensive?
dial427436Member“especially after he told her that he knows that she is his zivug.”
Wait he said that she is his zivug?!?! Does anyone else find that odd?
dial427436MemberOnce upon a time siddurim didn’t exist.
dial427436MemberThat’s odd I was expecting to read about popcorn and oil.
dial427436MemberWhy are you making popcorn in a pot. Isn’t that why God created microwaves?
dial427436MemberThe key word to note is “sad”. Reducing simcha doesn’t mean one needs to be sad. I don’t think Hashem wants us to be depressed. I’ve always understood these weeks which lead up to Elul to prepare ourselves for the yomim norayim. The mindset is to move us to do teshuva and yearn for Hashem’s dwelling once again. Indeed it is a sad time but you can’t make yourself an Avel but you can move your mind to those things by which is bringing yourself closer to Hashem which i think is part of the point.
dial427436Memberoomis, what is your definition of having a normal conversation?
You can list a bunch of things that you define as normal that a girl would desire but does that mean if 30% of the time they aren’t “normal” that the guy isn’t good enough?
I think my wife says I have good hygiene, I wonder if I skip a shower one day because I’m too tired or brush my teeth once instead twice a day am I not normal.
These are the kind of things the couple discovers after they get married. Myturnatbat said it well, we spend too much time looking for the “perfect one”. There is only so much you can find out.
July 30, 2014 3:13 pm at 3:13 pm in reply to: Girl Refusing a Shidduch Because Boy is Shorter #1026942dial427436MemberCurious, why does it bother you?
dial427436MemberOh the shidduch system, I think the atheists say it best….blame it on God.
dial427436MemberIt should be called the “Kiddush Club Room”.
dial427436MemberCurious, how does one look up the accomplishments of President Obama?
dial427436MemberNo it wasn’t a top hat, I’m very ignorant on the subject. Hearing straw made me think of this farm hat I once had on Purim. It only works if it has that little feather.
dial427436MemberStraw? Where are you on a farm? I’m, pretty sure some of those hats are silk. At least the one my father wore.
dial427436Membermodiinbob, I sure hope you know what it’s like to have a barrage of rockets and sirens disturbing you day in and day out to question someones bitachon. Everyone has what to work on in this world.
dial427436MemberIt’s not the airline per say its the rules of the country your are flying to. I flew with my brother from Israel to the US and I think it was the FAA, had allowed people carrying a Lulav on the plane, it was posted on their federal webpage. We had flown EL AL and the rep was not sure until we called over a supervisor. You would need to know the countries policies about bringing “plants” or however you would categorize a Lulav onto the plane.
dial427436MemberTo the OP, someones wife(first lady) may have had an agenda. We do know from the Torah that a wife can have pull in her husbands decisions.
I have heard first lady Mrs. Michelle Obama’s name more times than any other Presidency, at least in my lifetime…Hillary is up there as well but I think it’s just proving my point. Old timers please correct me if I’m wrong.
dial427436MemberWell with today’s technology why not become a child again!!! Just a few surgeries here and there…
dial427436MemberI signed it with pleasure, but all should know that this isn’t what is going to save our brothers and sisters in The Holy Land. It’s the mindset I disagree with, too many times do we run and blame others when we should be blaming ourselves and running to The One above. You are correct it may help but there is way too much emphasis on political matters than actual avodas Hashem. Anyone who believes in the Torah would agree that our tefillos can do anything!!!
dial427436Member100,000 signatures means that he will have the pleasure of reviewing what Americans are complaining about today, not necessarily doing anything about it. Do you really think if 100,000 Americans sign a petition all will change? What is the percentage of 100,000 in the population of USA?
dial427436MemberYour Torah and tefillah have more power than signatures on a petition. We need to run to our King above not to our politicians.
I signed one of those petitions to kick Justin Beiber out of the country, it had more than enough signatures for presidential review. Not sure what happened with that one.
dial427436MemberI’m sure they were created for public awareness. A video like this is asking the world that question.
“what would you do….if you only had 15 seconds just about on day to day basis knowing that at any moment a rocket could land on you or your house/friends and family, being surrounded by a people that hate and want you dead, that your children must live in fear. How can we live this way!?!?
The video is to shake the viewers who don’t understand what it’s like to live under those circumstances.
dial427436MemberYou insult the kitties lining the box with that.
July 7, 2014 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm in reply to: Does a parent have a right to break a computer bought by a child? #1022946dial427436MemberI agree with PBA, I would suggest that you should consult your Rav.
Is your son seeing a therapist because he watches movies or are there other reasons?
I smell something chareidi about this…
July 7, 2014 1:41 pm at 1:41 pm in reply to: Does a parent have a right to break a computer bought by a child? #1022937dial427436MemberPut a filter on it, your son seems to need an outlet of some kind. How did he purchase a laptop, aren’t they expensive in Israel?
dial427436MemberAssuming everything else you do is correct always check your blind spots and mirrors, they like that.
dial427436MemberI had this problem last night. I had to run through the door otherwise they would all just welcome themselves in. My wife later freaked me out and told me one bug was crawling on my back. Wow I will never forget that moment as she jumped back, her face dropped and then screamed, I thought someone was about to kill me…
dial427436MemberMaybe we should all convert to Islam, then we wont be infidels anymore. Plus they are going to have to deal with us aside from all their other “problems”. Could you imagine having to deal with millions of Jews…
The way you honor them is by doing what you were doing when you thought they were still alive. The tefillos and learning that went on during these last few weeks were inspirational. Do a good deed/mitzvah in their memory that is how you honor/remember the fallen yidden.
dial427436MemberThere is no “area” code for that number, that number is in the heavens above the earth.
dial427436MemberRedleg, I don’t disagree with you. I’m referring to the House and it’s inability decide. They all just take sides when arguing on policy, why, because that one is a Democrat and that one is a Republican.
Ben Levi, you would think that everyone would want justice and want to know why 4 Americans were horrifically murdered. “dude it’s been two years…” a quote from an aide. That is justice?!?!…blah
dial427436MemberSo if Mods are moody we get subtitles…cool
dial427436MemberThere is certain satisfaction of having cash flow and paying all your bills. Happiness is taking/seeking pleasure in the pleasures that you have.
dial427436MemberPolitics is the he said she said argument. If you are a Democrat you will support the Democrats, if you’re a Republican you support the Republicans. There is no room for listening to the other side by definition if you are of the opposing party you must be wrong. Everyone is wrong!!!
dial427436MemberI got very excited when I saw in the news that Boehner and some other Republicans are planning on suing Obama. I smell impeachment.
dial427436MemberYou can be happy and wealthy or happy and poor. Happiness is not a happening.
dial427436MemberJust well?!?! not terrific or amazing!!….sheesh 🙂
dial427436MemberI made an illegal left turn in Manhattan once and I got a ticket. The officer was sitting there most likely picking everyone off. In my defense my GPS told me to and I didn’t see any signs.
Anyways my Aunt is a judge in the city for traffic violations. She says it wasn’t worth fighting a small traffic ticket like mine or even a speeding ticket. She said it’s possible to accumulate more fees, I’m not sure why or how but I trust her.
dial427436MemberOr start a pyramid scheme.
dial427436MemberOwning a small business could have you working a couple hours a day. Keep in mind YOU have to start it and that takes time, unless you have tons of money and can pay people to do everything for you. Assuming the business will be successful you have at least a couple years maybe months of serious work.
June 24, 2014 2:48 pm at 2:48 pm in reply to: Poll: When you read, how do you turn the pages? #1021256dial427436MemberJust rip em out…
dial427436MemberYou would also need to pick the type of law you would want to go into. Real estate, divorce, elder, bankruptcy, litigation and much more.
dial427436MemberDoes the mishnah berurah say anything about bachurim taking large steps or something like that?
