Are we really going to have another cholent thread?
Would you prefer if we turned this into the “ask rhetorical questions” thread?
Derech HaMelechMemberbpt:
…and see which one speaks to your heart (I know which one works for me)
In all seriousness, does Mattisyahu really speaks to you? The few songs that I’ve heard always struck me as a goyishe song that happened to have been written by a Jew and has Jewish themes.
There are a lot of goyishe emotional songs, but I could never compare a Tzoma L’cha Nafshi from Mattisyahu (I’ve never actually heard it) to the one from Shloime Daskal.

Maybe there needs to be a distinction between “kosher” Jewish music and “nonkosher” Jewish music. In my opinion just because the singer/composer is Jewish or even frum doesn’t automatically mean the song is a “kosher Jewish song”.
Derech HaMelechMemberI don’t believe in that answer. Can you give another example of a “garbling” of the mesorah?
I never understood chisurei mechserah were chisronos in the mesorah. Rather, because of yiridos hadoros or some other reason,we needed more words added to the mesorah in order to understand it the way it was originally intended without those added words.

And then the gemarah asks what he did to deserve to have to pay yenem’s nezek??

Derech HaMelechMemberHe starts his day from sunset. So from sunset Friday night until sunset Saturday night he doesn’t mod.
Derech HaMelechMemberI don’t have a source but it stands to reason:
If you are not doing the sign that the kohanim do, what reason would there be to say you can’t do it?
Derech HaMelechMember??? ????? ???? ?????? ????? ?????? ???? ?????
Derech HaMelechMemberrebbe1: If you’re talking about the hand sign that looks like half of what the kohanim do, I don’t think its a problem since it is only half of what the kohanim do when they duchan.
I think you can do it with both hands provided you don’t put them together the way the kohanim do.

Derech HaMelechMemberRight. You’re walking from a non-existant place (from the mezuzah’s perspective), into a room. The same as walking into a house.
Derech HaMelechMemberwhat inyan, aside from the fact that people hold you cant fold it on shabbos, is there to fold your tallis on motzaei shabbos!?
I don’t remember anymore. I recall it had to do something with being oisek in a mitzvah somehow. Maybe since its a hachanah l’Shabbos? I have to try to remember where I saw it.
So you leave your tallis unfolded from after Shachris until Motzei Shabbos?
Yes I do.
Derech HaMelechMemberyitayningwut:
Even if the room was too small, wouldn’t that just mean you need to put the mezuzah on the opposite side?
Derech HaMelechMemberI thought the problem with folding a tallis is that you are preparing it for the next Shabbos. Also there is an inyan to fold it on motzei Shabbos.
Derech HaMelechMemberPM: That’s OK. I’m not presenting my opinion. Click on the link its from Rav Chaim’s Siach HaSadeh. He bring it all there.
adorable: Putting on two garments at the same time causes forgetfulness. This is a problem for men who are not allowed to purposely forget their learning and so have to avoid things that cause forgetfulness.
Derech HaMelechMemberWhy not?
Derech HaMelechMemberSorry, I’m half wrong and half right.
The problem is putting on two garments at the same time. That is kasha l’shikcha. Taking them off is not a problem.

Derech HaMelechMemberWill someone please tell me what an example of a dangling preposition would be considered like?
Derech HaMelechMember??? ??? ?????? ?????? ????? ???
Derech HaMelechMemberIts probably like minyangal says: “zeh” is mashmah being moreh b’etzbah, like by kidush levanah, the menorah and machatzis hashekel. So when we say “vzos haTorah” we are moreh b’etzbah.
I’m sure taamei haminhagim speaks about it.
Derech HaMelechMember???? ????? ??? ?????? ????? ?????? ???? ???
Derech HaMelechMemberCan someone explain what a dangling proposition is?
Derech HaMelechMemberThis whole time I thought the name of this thread was “hypnotism“. Who knew?
Derech HaMelechMemberadorable:
I dont understand what you mean about the paragraph speaking about something else thats important too. what else does that paragraph talk about?
HaLeivi:
The Parsha of Tzitzis has in it four other Mitzvos, which is the reason that it was added to Krias Shema in the first place.
Derech HaMelechMemberNot really nogeiah.
Whether to post on YW? That’s right in front of whether you should eat pizza.
This post from p_b_a was easily the funniest thing I’ve heard here since the metaphors that were really similes thread.
Derech HaMelechMemberIf C”V the xtains get their place on coney island, this organization will be one of the few if only that keeps kids off the street and out of their line of sight.
Derech HaMelechMemberHow about say “Hi, how are you today?”
That can be nice if you say it in a pleasant tone of voice.
Derech HaMelechMemberdo you mean that you can get strep at a certain time each month?
I got strep and/or strep like symptoms including sore throat and mild to high fever on approximately the same week of every month for about two years. My fevers hit highs of 104 sometimes.
Derech HaMelechMemberWhy do women say the paragraph about tzitzis in shema?
Probably for the same reason they say the paragraphs that speak about tefillin in Shema. Because it speaks about something else that is important too.
Derech HaMelechMember????? ??? ??? ?????
Derech HaMelechMemberI’m confused. I don’t get what the problem here is.
Derech HaMelechMemberI think you have to know your madreigah.
If you have true bitachon that you’ll have the money for whatever you need, then I would say that is enough. But I think that’s a very high level of Bitachon and most people would instead convince themselves that they have bitachon rather than actually having it.
I don’t think that there is any reason to connect the Hebrew word “bitachon” and the loshon hakodesh word “bitachon”. But that being said, when I got married and needed to get insurance, my Rebbe didn’t tell me to get the best that I could afford, just a basic regular insurance.
When it comes to Bitachon, there’s no “one size fits all”. Everyone needs to dicuss with their Rov the level of bitachon that they have and how much of an impact that bitachon should have on their cheshbonos.
Derech HaMelechMember??? ??? ?????? ?????? ????? ???? ??????
Derech HaMelechMemberI assume that it is the job of the “Torah Nucleus” (term I learned today) to infiltrate the rest of the Jewish world.
Actually its been the way of Yeshivos for a long time to set up shop and let anyone that is interested come to them rather than send their students out.
Today there are different opinions on this. My Rosh yeshivah was of the opinion that it is more important to remain within the walls of the Beis Midrash rather than face teh dangers of the secular world.
His father-in-law Rav Wolbe felt that everyone should take something like one year out of their studies to do kiruv.
As WIY said, its not that simple to just pack up a family and their are other considerations that have to be weighed against the doing kiruv, such as the environment for your children that is conducive to Torah.
As it says in Pirkei Avos, “exile yourself to a place of Torah.”
Derech HaMelechMember????? ???? ????? ???
Derech HaMelechMemberBetween your question and Another name’s answer we can paint the full picture.
Reformed and Conservative Jews make up the greater percentage of Jewish people by a huge proportion. The Orthodox in comparison are tiny. How can you expect such a small population to infiltrate into every single community that might have Conservative and/or Reformed Jews in such a magnitude as to actually impact the community?
Derech HaMelechMemberI don’t understand.
There’s a page that has news on it here?
