Actuly there is no issur to TOUCH muktza only to MOVE muktza.

The lamp is muktza but the cover is a seperate unconected peice and therefore not muktzah.
yes but if you open it just to let in the light thets fine.
Are you aloud to open your window shade on shabbos? the kosher lamp does exectly the same. as to the spirit of the halacha, there is actuly a halacha to not sit in the dark on shabbos.

Saddly there are to many people in that matzev now days, hopefully this will pass, and the lesson we should learn is to remember how it feels not knowing how we will pay the grocery and take noting for granted, to be greatfull for what we have and help those who dont.

let me just say something, yes i agree with iyhbyu yes i do feel very bad for the girl you dated but you have all the right to be choosy, b/c its your life/future wife and usually the heavy girls that start heavy only get heavier, and the skinny girls that got heavy after their wedding try at least to loose it they dont want to be heavy. but good luck in whatever you do i wish you find you right zivug.(and i hope its not meant to be a heavy one)
