☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
They’ve been in the New York City water since at least the opening of the Old Croton Aqueduct in 1842. All the gedolim drank the water, presumably with the copepods.
Whether or not this should be a reason to permit the water is part of the machlokes.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou just did!
OK, here goes:
I nominate eclipse for Most Pit iful Attempt At Changing A Screen Name.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf Rav Belsky says it’s ok; it’s ok and end of story.
Many very big poskim disagree (R’ Dovid Feinstein, R Feivel Cohen, and R’ Elyashiv agreed with them). Why is it “end of story” that it’s muttar?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMy biggest flaw is that I think I’m perfect.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMany old threads get revived later on.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantChicken fat ripple.
…with one scoop liver chip…
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf you can readily see them with the naked eye, then they are large enough for the water to require filtering.
They’re large enough. I’ve seen them.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDo we show enough gratitude to our parents?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think it’s distributed and sold by Im Hasefer (Rabbi Yaakov Levitz 718-253-4062).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWolves don’t use guns. 🙂
As they say, the keyboard is mightier than the gun. 🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWe’d go the local store and buy beer with our fake ID’s.
Then I guess you weren’t real men.

☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI happened to have been informed that nassau/suffolk county and far rockaway do not have bugs
Nassau and Suffolk are not part of NYC; Far Rockaway is, and uses NYC water.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI used to like chocolate the best, until I tasted the dead skunk delight. Yum! Thanks for the idea, Mr.80!
BTW, hunting for the skunk was almost as much fun as eating the ice cream.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantVerizon Wireless
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant??? ????
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDieting is unhealthy – it makes you hungry
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantbpt,
Do you like Oneg Shabbos herring?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t understand your question! If the person your dating would care WHY would you keep iit a secret? Just to make further trouble? And If they would not care, WHY would you mind letting them know?
Most people would care, and would likely not agree to even go out if they knew. (Not that anyone is at fault for a mental health issue, but that’s human nature.) The idea of waiting to tell is that the other person might agree to overlook an issue once they have gotten to know the person. Yet, it would be unfair tho let it go too far without disclosing an issue.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAm I the only fan?
I liked the wasabi.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAs I said, great idea!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThanks.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNope.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat if you gave your masser money to another young man in your situation who couldn’t afford to date to help him get married, and then he did the same for you. Wouldn’t that be a way of using masser money as a chessed and tzedaka? Is that a possible loophole to this dilemma?
Yes, sounds good, but then he’d feel that his friend doesn’t need to go to such a fancy restaurant!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat? I can’t hear you. Can you please type louder?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantShould a girl whose brother(s) are not up to your standards, not be good enough for you even if she herself is a prize jewel in every way? it’s time to stop over-analyzing everything, and start evaluating a person based on his/her own merits.
See Rashi, Shemos, 6-23
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantKen,
Actually, I abbreviated the story; as I originally heard it, the prospective shver said he would farher him by having R’ Yonoson say a shtickel torah on a random page opened in a random sefer, and the inn where they met had only a siddur.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou should give the $40 to the owner of the ice cream store.
What does that have to do with this?
The Wolf
Just a little joke – my way of saying that I don’t think you owe the money, as I felt on the ice cream question (someone responded to that one that it would be tzedaka).
The majority of the times, my intention when I returned the money it was almost akin to a juvenile (yes, I can act that way sometimes) “tag, you’re it.”
That’s precisely why I don’t think you owe the $ to maaser, but in this case, if you give it to tzedaka, you do get a mitzvah anyhow.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPopa Bar Abba,
I think you are board.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLet’s not add any posts here!
Great idea!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t see how it could possibly be considered maaser. Money spent on a previous obligation cannot be considered maaser, and getting married is a chiyuv (for a man). Any money spent above the minimum required to get married would not be part of a mitzvah at all. The only way I could see it being considered maaser is if the girl paid for the date!
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantwanderingchana, this is a men’s thread. Are you hard of herring?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI see nothing wrong with what chayav is doing; he’s playing a game, and being very obvious about it.
I knew a woman who finished shas (Bavli) three times.
Yes, but I imagine that she was sober.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI see nothing wrong with what chayav is doing; he’s playing a game, and being very obvious about it.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou should give the $40 to the owner of the ice cream store.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThis thread is also about shidduchim.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf you can’t afford dating, supporting a family is going to be a MAJOR ISSUE
That’s assuming that there will not be any additional forms of income after marriage. However, there usually are.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantRabbosai, I’m getting frustrated;
what I will now say will be hated.
Some of these rhymes,
are not worth two dimes;
it shouldn’t be so complicated!
My presence here is so sporadic,
cause it makes me sick,
to see a limerick,
whose style is so erratic.
A rhyme means the words end the same;
you know, there are rule to this game.
The words tune and too,
that’s why these limericks are lame!
I gave now but one small example,
Unfortunately, there have been ample.
Cookey and rookie,
from rhyme school played hooky,
On rhyming rules these do trample.
I know I am being annoying,
and with your feelings I’m toying,
but boot, food and good,
you really should,
avoid in the same poem deploying.
Everyone will soon improve,
come now, let’s get on the move!
Just follow the rules,
we won’t look like fools.
Let’s get this thread back in the groove!
I hope no one did I insult,
I do not want that to result;
I meant it in jest,
you are all the best!
Forgive me and I will exult.
By the way, there are more pages,
but done in a way which enrages.
There used to be six,
pages of limericks,
now suddenly nine, not in stages.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe asked three questions.
3) Why did a Jewish mother name her son Yishmael?
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantthere was an amora called reb yishmael ben elisha
tanna
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantlo hadam ati saw it
?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat does R’ Chaim say about someone named Joseph using multiple names?
That’s it! Joseph was told by R’ Chaim to change his name. He went to 28 different rabbonim to ask which name he should adopt, and this is the result! YW-Moderator 42, you’re a genius! 🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPopa Bar Abba,
I totally disagree; I think these, and all, decisions are best left to parents. When my mother’s not looking I’ll let you know what I really think…
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNormal? Yes. Productive? No.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI also prefer date beer.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOr, possibly, R. Solomon does not make the business decisions for BMG.
Good point.
Had I personally heard the mashgiach say “only Hamodia” I would be more equipped to form an opinion, based on tone of voice and context, on what he meant. As is, I’ll assume he was not being literal. Besides my point about the BMG ads, I don’t think any of that other publication’s shortcomings would warrant exclusion from a good Jewish home.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantRav M. Solomon said it very clearly in a drosho 2-3 years ago at the Agudah convention, and I quote “The Hamodia is not another paper that you should buy – it is the ONLY paper you should have in your house”. Of course he was not refering to the Yated – he was refering to bringing in any other daily into your house.
Why are you making an assertion that is clearly contradictory to what R. Solomon said?
The Wolf
BMG does advertise in Yated; it’s hard to believe they would if the mashgiach was against taking it into one’s home.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDo we have to be sober?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYo, dude, using those sick words is mad beastly.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGood night to you, my dear Yoss,
go to sleep without making a fuss.
Although you’re inspired,
you must be real tired,
from yesterday’s trip on the bus!
I hope that the chasunah was nice,
and nobody slipped on the ice.
Outside all is frosted,
and I am exhausted,
so for tonight, this will suffice.
