☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
Try the same with shailos for at least 50-50
No, you missed the point. It’s a siman, not a sibah.
Ok, true, if you realize that your priorities are wrong, perhaps focusing on finding bein adam lachaveiro shailos is a good trick to realign your priorities, but the shailos aren’t the essential issue.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBut I think the main contention here is not a specific halakha
Correct
The issue raised is whether we are allowed to deal with issues ourselves or need to ask any time there is a change from daily routine.
No, if I switch from Cheerios to Corn Flakes, I don’t need to ask. Skipping Kaddish, yes.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIs being dan l’kaf z’chus a positive thought?
I am being dan l’kaf z’chus that the Covid lockdowns and mask wearing have affected people’s midos, and really they are nice people. I hope the damage isn’t permanent and that after this is all over they will go back to being nice.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant“on the two sides of this argument, pro-death and anti-COVID, ”
With these words you have illustrated your inability to have a conversation.
This is right on the mark. If Yserbius would speak to 1000 rabbonim and mechanchim who disagreed with him, he would disregard all of it because they are all pro death.
The fact is that there are gedolim on both sides of the equation. But not according to Yserbius, because by definition they aren’t gedolim since they’re “pro death” r”l.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantFrom the CDC: Masks should NOT be worn by children under age 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing.
The person who I mentioned was told by his doctor that he cannot wear a mask for long periods.
(It was physical. If it were psychological it probably would have bolstered my point even more)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWere you a pathological liar before Covid, or is this an effect of the lockdown and restrictions? Maybe the psychological impact of wearing a mask?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPro death? Another blatant lie. They are piling up.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI am not diving into the weird part of the internet just to find one or two obscure conspiracy sites that bolster your argument.
Not conspiracy sites. Real stories, on sites which actually are in favor of masks. But you won’t go past five sites because you don’t want to see anything behich contradicts your made up reality that masks are no big deal.
You have yet to bring a single rational argument about how the mild psychological affects of mask wearing somehow trump the major sakana of not wearing them (see: my drunk driving moshol).
Real life. Conversations with mechanchim.
I woud tell you to speak to rabbonim and mechanchim who don’t insist on masks and ask them the reasons, in a sincere way, but I’m afraid you are not able to drop your bias and hear real answers and accept that there’s another side.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantthat if someone had Hatzalah called because a mask inhibited their breathing,
Wow. You have a serious problem with the truth. Even while trying to wriggle out if it you still can’t help lying.
I did not say he called Hatzala. Again you made that up. Almost called Hatzala.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou totally missed the point (on purpose)
Unfortunately that’s his MO
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI am not too lazy.
https://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/anti-face-mask-ywncr#post-1924084
It’s a 100% true story, someone did almost call Hatzala, and the point was to demonstrate that some people do have trouble breathing (google asthma and masks) and you distorted it and said I claimed Hatzala was running amok treating patients for mask wearing. And doubled and tripled down on that lie, along with others (masks don’t create problems with communication!).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou are the one who lost all credibility, because although I suppose you can doubt the story happened, you have no way of knowing that it was “invented”. Among a bunch of other lies and distortions.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhen all else fails, double down on your lies and distortions. And add to them.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo, you should have asked a shaila instead of making your own assumptions
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t agree that Rush was talented
That’s unusual bias induced blindness. Most of his detractors acknowledge his immense talent. Most people are not talented enough to gain such a huge audience.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI answered the ‘ethical question’ in the thread and as of now I haven’t gotten any counter-arguments.
You did. The counterargument is that we don’t want antivaxxers to die either, regar sleds of their stupidity or defiance.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantif you don’t mind catching the virus; that’s your problem is an ethical question, not a practical one.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNot ethical, practical.
Ethical. Practically, if someone decides not to get vaccinated, they might still get Covid and ch”v die.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI personally was involved in a couple of competitive intellectual pursuits over years, so I know what I don’t know reasonably well.
Apparently not well enough.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant(I’m not addressing the issue of that causing non vaccinated to abandon mask wearing. You can still argue that)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBesides for MadeAliyah ethical shtickle Torah (which does not yet apply since many who want to get vaccinated have not yet been able to), the study done in Eretz Yisroel found that the vaccine doesn’t just reduce symptoms, it seriously reduces infections. Unless you want to claim that people who are not infected can still spread it, getting vaccinated means there’s little reason to wear a mask.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes we do
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNot sure what the rest of your post even means or how it relates to this discussion.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant“Even”? Because it was earlier in your yeshiva curriculum?
No, because more people ask those than ask Choshen Mishpat shailos. You probably don’t ask enough of either.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI do ask Orech Chaim shailos when I have them.
You are too quick to assume you don’t have one.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReb Eliezer,
We need the help of our allies to fight Iran.
What does that have to with making a deal with Iran?
And what on earth does tefillin have to do with it? Purim Torah?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHuju, a liar, yes. A hypocrite? After several posters explained the difference between what he did andxwhst others he complained about did, it’s pretty obvious it’s the R before his name which majes you think he’s a hypocrite.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou don’t wear eyeglasses, do you?
lol☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’ll add one more to the list: people who wear glasses.
😉☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, Yserbius, wearing a mask for hours at a time for month after month after month has produced a terrible effect, socially and emotionally. You get so caught up in the physical aspect that you completely ignore that part. But it’s very real, and while I respect those who have decided to prioritize the physical danger, I also respect those who have prioritized the other very real dangers.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe’s saying that people don’t ask enough shailos in Choshen Mishpat. He’s right. Rav Moshe Feinstein lamented that people didn’t ask enough shailos in Hilchos Tzeddakah. He was also right.
You are even worse. You don’t even ask shailos in Orech Chaim!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI was just thinking today that I got a misleading name! AAQ does not stand for “always ask shailos”, it stands for “always ask kushios”..
The biggest kashya is on you for not asking shailos when appropriate.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOur appointments are next week IYH for the first dose
Hatzlocha with that.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAnd BTW, I am not against wearing masks. I do wear one when the situation warrants it. If you want to wear a mask, go right ahead. If you want to stay away away from places where not everyone is masked, I respect that.
All I want is for you to respect others’ decisions not to wear masks in all of the situations you do. They have good reasons.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantmaking the virus much less dangerous so we no longer have to mask and socially distant.
Less dangerous, but still dangerous. So why won’t you just wear the stupid mask?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAn opinion article in the WSJ suggests we are approaching herd immunity and there will be few cases of Covid-19 by April.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCoffee Addict, have either of you been able to get vaccinated?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe comparison is so off it’s scary.
Yes, you don’t ask a shaila when someone’s life is in immediate danger. That has absolutely nothing to do with skipping parts of davening. If being at the minyan was actually dangerous you wouldn’t be there to begin with. You should have asked a shaila before davening which certainly is not time sensitive.
So it’s a huge chutzpah and azus for you to be making the decision in your own.
Ironic considering your screen name.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBen Hecht was an anti-semite?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantQuoting a story from R Meir Twersky:
I heard the following story from my brother, Ha’Gaon Hakadosh Rav Moshe Twersky zt”l hy”d, who, in turn, heard it from Ha’Gaon Rav Gershon Zaks zt”l: There was once an emergency meeting of gedolim to discuss potential responses to a harsh, cruel governmental edict. The discussion continued through the day until it was almost sunset. One of the participants suggested that they should stop to daven Mincha. The Chafetz Chaim zt”l, astonished, lovingly reproached him: “Mincha ligt ihr offen kup?! Mincha is on your mind[8]?!” The importance and sanctity of tefilah (prayer) is indeed inestimable, and yet – in certain circumstances – it is forbidden to pray!I hope he wasn’t using that story to prove people shouldn’t daven with a minyan during Covid
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMaking sure of what?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat’s assuming Covid is gone, but if what some experts are saying, that Covid is here to stay, is true, that makes it even more of an issue.
So, will you wear a mask forever?
February 18, 2021 12:05 am at 12:05 am in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949538☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo do you think the CDC is jumping the gun by allowing vaccinated people to avoid quarantine even when exposed?
February 17, 2021 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949510☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHowever, I seriously question how likely it is for someone who has been vaccinated to be contagious. The medical guidance I have gotten is that someone who has antibodies does not need to quarantine if exposed to someone with Covid. Although I am aware that not everyone agrees with this, even the CDC which is generally very cautious does give a window of 76 days during which a vaccinated person does not need to quarantine if exposed.
February 17, 2021 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949507☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBesides, killing off the stupid is not something Jews should be advocating.
I happen to agree with that answer to MakeAliyah’s question.
The question is if antivaxxers are stupid, or defiant? And does that change our responsibility to them?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantQuestion for Yserbius123: now that we have “new” information that masks work (which according to you we never knew before), are you going to wear a mask for the rest of your life? After all, the flu (and other contagious diseases) are also dangerous (not as much as Covid-19, but still dangerous), and masks are no big deal.
February 17, 2021 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949442☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCDC says that we are unsure whether the vaccine protects against infecting others not vaccinated as the virus is dormant in you and protects you against infection by creating antibodies.
You are missing MadeAliyah’s point. Which others are going to be affected? Only those who chose not to get vaccinated.
February 17, 2021 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949441☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMeaning that one out of 20 people aren’t affected by it and still have to be careful.
Yet more disinformation from you.
1 out of 20 people might still get Covid, but that doesn’t mean they were not affected by the vaccine. 0 out of 20 people got seriously ill from Covid after receiving both vaccines (after a week or two from the second vaccine dose).
So you’re saying that we still need to be cautious even after the vaccine is widespread is evidence of either your ignorance, or that you have an agenda to unnecessary restrict people.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant@daas-yochid He lied about what?
Probably when he said not to wear them. They’ve been wearing them in other countries for years during flu season.
They weren’t suddenly mechadesh anything about masks.
There’s still no hard evidence that it actually helps, but it probably does. Point is, he lost credibility. He left it wide open for the conspiracy theorist on social media to have their posts accepted. Also gave more credence to the anti vax theories
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy does anyone care if there are a lot of bank branches around?
