☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
I personally was involved in a couple of competitive intellectual pursuits over years, so I know what I don’t know reasonably well.
Apparently not well enough.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant(I’m not addressing the issue of that causing non vaccinated to abandon mask wearing. You can still argue that)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBesides for MadeAliyah ethical shtickle Torah (which does not yet apply since many who want to get vaccinated have not yet been able to), the study done in Eretz Yisroel found that the vaccine doesn’t just reduce symptoms, it seriously reduces infections. Unless you want to claim that people who are not infected can still spread it, getting vaccinated means there’s little reason to wear a mask.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes we do
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNot sure what the rest of your post even means or how it relates to this discussion.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant“Even”? Because it was earlier in your yeshiva curriculum?
No, because more people ask those than ask Choshen Mishpat shailos. You probably don’t ask enough of either.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI do ask Orech Chaim shailos when I have them.
You are too quick to assume you don’t have one.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReb Eliezer,
We need the help of our allies to fight Iran.
What does that have to with making a deal with Iran?
And what on earth does tefillin have to do with it? Purim Torah?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHuju, a liar, yes. A hypocrite? After several posters explained the difference between what he did andxwhst others he complained about did, it’s pretty obvious it’s the R before his name which majes you think he’s a hypocrite.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou don’t wear eyeglasses, do you?
lol☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’ll add one more to the list: people who wear glasses.
😉☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, Yserbius, wearing a mask for hours at a time for month after month after month has produced a terrible effect, socially and emotionally. You get so caught up in the physical aspect that you completely ignore that part. But it’s very real, and while I respect those who have decided to prioritize the physical danger, I also respect those who have prioritized the other very real dangers.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe’s saying that people don’t ask enough shailos in Choshen Mishpat. He’s right. Rav Moshe Feinstein lamented that people didn’t ask enough shailos in Hilchos Tzeddakah. He was also right.
You are even worse. You don’t even ask shailos in Orech Chaim!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI was just thinking today that I got a misleading name! AAQ does not stand for “always ask shailos”, it stands for “always ask kushios”..
The biggest kashya is on you for not asking shailos when appropriate.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOur appointments are next week IYH for the first dose
Hatzlocha with that.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAnd BTW, I am not against wearing masks. I do wear one when the situation warrants it. If you want to wear a mask, go right ahead. If you want to stay away away from places where not everyone is masked, I respect that.
All I want is for you to respect others’ decisions not to wear masks in all of the situations you do. They have good reasons.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantmaking the virus much less dangerous so we no longer have to mask and socially distant.
Less dangerous, but still dangerous. So why won’t you just wear the stupid mask?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAn opinion article in the WSJ suggests we are approaching herd immunity and there will be few cases of Covid-19 by April.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCoffee Addict, have either of you been able to get vaccinated?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe comparison is so off it’s scary.
Yes, you don’t ask a shaila when someone’s life is in immediate danger. That has absolutely nothing to do with skipping parts of davening. If being at the minyan was actually dangerous you wouldn’t be there to begin with. You should have asked a shaila before davening which certainly is not time sensitive.
So it’s a huge chutzpah and azus for you to be making the decision in your own.
Ironic considering your screen name.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBen Hecht was an anti-semite?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantQuoting a story from R Meir Twersky:
I heard the following story from my brother, Ha’Gaon Hakadosh Rav Moshe Twersky zt”l hy”d, who, in turn, heard it from Ha’Gaon Rav Gershon Zaks zt”l: There was once an emergency meeting of gedolim to discuss potential responses to a harsh, cruel governmental edict. The discussion continued through the day until it was almost sunset. One of the participants suggested that they should stop to daven Mincha. The Chafetz Chaim zt”l, astonished, lovingly reproached him: “Mincha ligt ihr offen kup?! Mincha is on your mind[8]?!” The importance and sanctity of tefilah (prayer) is indeed inestimable, and yet – in certain circumstances – it is forbidden to pray!I hope he wasn’t using that story to prove people shouldn’t daven with a minyan during Covid
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMaking sure of what?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat’s assuming Covid is gone, but if what some experts are saying, that Covid is here to stay, is true, that makes it even more of an issue.
So, will you wear a mask forever?
February 18, 2021 12:05 am at 12:05 am in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949538☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo do you think the CDC is jumping the gun by allowing vaccinated people to avoid quarantine even when exposed?
February 17, 2021 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949510☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHowever, I seriously question how likely it is for someone who has been vaccinated to be contagious. The medical guidance I have gotten is that someone who has antibodies does not need to quarantine if exposed to someone with Covid. Although I am aware that not everyone agrees with this, even the CDC which is generally very cautious does give a window of 76 days during which a vaccinated person does not need to quarantine if exposed.
February 17, 2021 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949507☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBesides, killing off the stupid is not something Jews should be advocating.
I happen to agree with that answer to MakeAliyah’s question.
The question is if antivaxxers are stupid, or defiant? And does that change our responsibility to them?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantQuestion for Yserbius123: now that we have “new” information that masks work (which according to you we never knew before), are you going to wear a mask for the rest of your life? After all, the flu (and other contagious diseases) are also dangerous (not as much as Covid-19, but still dangerous), and masks are no big deal.
February 17, 2021 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949442☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCDC says that we are unsure whether the vaccine protects against infecting others not vaccinated as the virus is dormant in you and protects you against infection by creating antibodies.
You are missing MadeAliyah’s point. Which others are going to be affected? Only those who chose not to get vaccinated.
February 17, 2021 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm in reply to: EXPLAINER: Covid Regulations Post-Vaccine #1949441☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMeaning that one out of 20 people aren’t affected by it and still have to be careful.
Yet more disinformation from you.
1 out of 20 people might still get Covid, but that doesn’t mean they were not affected by the vaccine. 0 out of 20 people got seriously ill from Covid after receiving both vaccines (after a week or two from the second vaccine dose).
So you’re saying that we still need to be cautious even after the vaccine is widespread is evidence of either your ignorance, or that you have an agenda to unnecessary restrict people.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant@daas-yochid He lied about what?
Probably when he said not to wear them. They’ve been wearing them in other countries for years during flu season.
They weren’t suddenly mechadesh anything about masks.
There’s still no hard evidence that it actually helps, but it probably does. Point is, he lost credibility. He left it wide open for the conspiracy theorist on social media to have their posts accepted. Also gave more credence to the anti vax theories
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy does anyone care if there are a lot of bank branches around?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBTW, I got the vaccine (Moderna). Arm soreness and body aches for a couple of days.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDaasYochid talks about changing directives on mask usage. They never changed….in the rest of the world.
Read my post in context. I was giving an example of why there’s a lack of trust. Saying to trust other countries isn’t really going to help.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant@daas-yochid So what you’re telling me is that Fauci changed his mind after being presented with evidence contrary to his opinion.
No, he lied
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCoffee Addict Shmoffee Addict
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBeginning at my normal medium speed, I was asked after cohen to pick up the pace because otherwise the men would miss their train to work. At that place and time, normal-speed leining was a tircha de-tzibura! If I were saying a “voluntary” kaddish, I’d bear this in mind.
Maybe your leining really is medium, but everyone probably thinks their pace is average, but not everyone’s is.
The comparison is far from great anyhow, because the minyan must anyhow account for Kaddish, but not for a slow (or relatively slow) leining.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAvram in MD, great post.
To add to your point, Kaddish Yasom is actually supposed to be said regardless of whether there is a Yasom there (although not all of the Kaddeishim we say are mandatory).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBetter he tries to convince us he will have good policies than not.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI am afraid this will be a terrible deterrent.
Yeah.
To compensate, they need to give out cholent.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSyag, the vaccine gives you six months.
Who says?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe “changing mask guidelines” is literally fake news. There was one Tweet
Um, no. USA Today had an interview with Dr. Fauci where he repeatedly said not to wear a mask. I don’t have Twitter, and I remember very clearly that the CDC said not to wear mask.
From Samuel Adler-Bell:
“Then there was the mask fiasco. In February and March, Fauci, the World Health Organization, and the CDC all recommended against protective masks for non-symptomatic members of the public. Their line was: don’t bother. On February 19, Fauci told USA Today, “In the United States, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to wear a mask.” On March 8, as scientists estimated tens of thousands of undetected Covid cases in the US, Fauci told 60 Minutes, “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is.” In the same interview, laying the foundation for a fog of disinformation that is still very much with us, Fauci suggested wearing a mask might actually increase the risk of contracting the virus, “Often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.”
When the facts don’t agree with you, you make up your own instead?
And apparently, mask wearing (maybe by cutting off your oxygen) has made you extremely rude. More likely it’s the emotional/psychological effect.
February 12, 2021 3:49 am at 3:49 am in reply to: Recapping some of Biden admin. steps negative effects #1947520☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantEndorsing neo-Nazis is in the interest of Jews and Israel?
He’s an egomaniac who supported someone running against someone who slighted him.
That doesn’t negate the fact that he was the most pro-Israel and pro-Jews president ever.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant10 1/2 hours since I had my second vaccine dose. Absolutely no side effects yet other than a tiny bit of soreness in the arm where it was injected.
Is that supposed to prove it’s safe?
February 8, 2021 8:13 am at 8:13 am in reply to: Is there a middle class frum family financial crisis ? #1946196☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPress87, someone is a kofer if he thinks there are problems in Lakewood too? That’s a new one.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWho is hiding it? Why would they? What do they have to gain? Why are you the only one blessed with the knowledge of the truth?
“They” refers to public health officials and then the media.
There are any numberof reasons to withhold information. Let’s put aside conspiracy theories; it’s clear that they don’t trust the public with certain pieces of information. In some cases, that’s justified, but the results are erosion of trust.
Just look at the changing mask directives.
They certainly would prefer people not know about those who suffered injury or illness from the vaccine, because people will get scared off.
I’m no antivaxxer, but when I see Dr. Fauci lying to the American people, I can’t help but expect that cynics will think he (and others) are lying about things we haven’t yet caught on to.
I think I would take the vaccine if I were able to and was in the vulnerable population. That’s because in balance, I think it’s worth it. I think the chances of dying of Covid-19 at this point is still greater than dying from the vaccine (despite great advances in treatment). But I think it is reasonable to be scared of a relatively untested (certainly long term) vaccine.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant😂🤣
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDon’t you think there are people who need it more than them?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t believe her apology. It came after Pelosi apparently twisted her arm into a pretzel. She still refused to vote to ban BDS. I contributed to her primary opponent last year. But at least she went through the motions, unlike Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
I’m not sure why you think an insincere apology has value, but either way, MTG also apologized. Probably equally insincere.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNote: If you jump in and crow about how Republicans are to blame because they give businesses carte blanche to do what they want, or Democrats are to blame because they’re in league with Big Tech, etc. you may think you are clever, but you are not providing anything productive. This is a non-partisan issue that affects everyone.
