My family went to Highland Park in Woodridge, NY for Shavous+Shabbos. We had a fabulous time! We got two bungalows that were big, comfortable and clean! We brought up our own food (the bungalows have a fridge, counters, sinks, stove, oven, cabinets and tables and chairs, couch) but they do have an option to get food from them.

There were plenty of people and kids to play with. Bring up a couple of balls and you can play elimination the whole Shabbos! They have a number of basketball courts and hardball courts. They also have a big bike that seats a number of people (I think eight). Everyone really enjoyed themselves!

Towards the summer the pool will be available (I think).

From what I heard, the price was very good.

You can reach them at 845-434-0102

VIDEO & PHOTOS: Chareidi Jews Defy Gedolei Yisroel & Ascend Har HaBayis

    (Tuesday, May 25th, 2010)

A group of Chareidi Jews ascended the Har Habayis today, with one man fully prostrating himself in prayer (as can be seen in the attached photos).

According to reports, the group was led by Rabbi Yitzchak Brand of the city of Emanuel and Rabbi Yisrael Ariel of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem. The group say they intend to bring ever-larger groups of Jews to the Mount with the purpose of eventually holding a Korban Pesach (Passover sacrifice) there.

It must be noted that according to the Poskei Hador one is absolutely forbidden to visit the Temple Mount.

This past Sukkos, Israeli President Shimon Peres paid a visit to the Sukkah of Maran Hagon Rav Elyashiv Shlita, where Rav Elyashiv called on the President to prevent Jews from visiting Har HaBayis, stating it is an act that that is viewed as extremely provocative by the goyim. Maran stated everything possible must be done to avoid a religious war, and the provocateurs are playing with fire.

Maran is quoted as explaining to the president that Halacha forbids going onto Har HaBayis but today, it is more than this, it is an act that may lead to a religious war and bloodshed.

In the summer of 2008, Rabbi Moshe Tendler visited Har HaBayis and caused a firestorm amongst Gedolei Eretz Yisroel.

State Rests Case Against Sholom Rubashkin

    (Tuesday, May 25th, 2010)

The state rested its case against former Agriprocessors executive Sholom Rubashkin shortly before noon this morning.

The jury was sent home until Wednesday morning when the defense will begin with its witnesses. The prosecutors and defense will return this afternoon when the defense likely will ask the jury for a directed verdict of acquittal.

The last prosecution witness, Elmer Lopez Marroquinn, told jurors he told labor investigators he was under age 18 before the May 2008 immigration raid.

Lopez Marroquinn, a Guatemalan resident who started working for Agriprocessors at the age of 16, said a plant human resources employee told him not to reveal his true age before he met with the inspectors.

But Lopez Marroquinn said he told labor inspectors his real name and age during the private interview. He also told investigators there were other minors at the Postville meatpacking plant.

After answering questions, he went back to work and continued his employment at the plant until the immigration agents raided the facility a month later.

Another witness, Luis Nava Gonzales, who was 17 when he started working at Agriprocessors in March 2008, recounted the same meeting with labor inspectors.

But Nava, who spoke without the assistance of an interpreter, said he told inspectors he was old enough to work at the plant.

Under cross-examination, the defense showed him a statement he signed at the conclusion of the labor interview.

The April 2008 document showed that Nava said he was 19 with a date of birth of 1987. That would have made him 21, and Nava picked up on the inaccuracy while he examined it from the stand.

Some of the more confrontational parts of the trial so far came during a heated exchange when defense attorney Montgomery Brown asked Nava about his duties wielding a chain saw on the beef kill floor.

When Brown pressed Nava, asking him if work on the floor stopped when the rabbis went home, Nava appeared to read something more into the question.

Brown let him continue and asked if there was anything else he wanted to say about his client.

And the reason I post so much in the CR is because I work all day and then after the day is over, I come to the CR and relieve the stress of a full days work. I check out whats happening on the CR then go to other Jewish sites, and come back periodically to see whats going on.

If there are 10 Jewish males over the age of 13 sitting seperate from the women that is called a kosher shul.

artchill, you said if ten Jewish men are sitting separate from the women. I was asking if the things I said happened even with separate seating, would you call it a Kosher shul?

I never said anything about Young Israel.

They must be Shomer Shabbos, not just Jewish.

What if there are 10 Jewish males with a lady Chazzan/Rabbi? Whould you say thats a Kosher Shul? What if there “davening” in English? Accompanied by an organ on Shabbos? What about a “shul” that gives aliyos to ladies/girls? artchill, would you call that a kosher shul?

    HIE, welcome to the club!

I can lie in bed for hours and not fall asleep.

I tried everything. Music, radio, a shuir (Rabbi Wallerstein would say to turn on his shuir and you will fall asleep, guaranteed. I used to listen to three shurim a night!), no noise. I can’t really take a sefer to bed, cause then I would need the light on to read it and then I won’t fall asleep.

the best thing to do is not have bright lights on… Just lay in the dark with your eyes closed and before you know it, you’ll be asleep!

    I wish!!!

    noitallmr

You gotta be careful about music because it is Ossur to fall asleep to music- making you drowsy I think is ok though…

The Mashgiach, Rav Don Segal Shlita arrived today in NY, where he will remain for the next three weeks.

Whay is there no date on the article?

When did he arrive? When is he leaving?

I read this story in Touched by an Inspiration. Every year, Motzei Pesach, a family in Staten Island would go with there grandfather (who lived in a different State) to get ice cream. One year, the grandfather was not feeling well. So the family went without him. By the ice cream store, while everyone was trying to figure out which flavor to get, the lady behind the counter asked about the grandfather’s absence. They told her that he was not feeling so good. They asked her how she remembered their grandfather. She replied that when people come to the store, they speak to her while looking down at the ice cream. But the grandfather always looked at her and treated her with respect. When the family came back home, they told the grandfather the story. Immediately, the grandfather got up and put on his coat. They asked him where he’s going. He replied, a person looks foward to me talking to them and I’m not well enough?
