Yoshi, I totally understand. You have to choose the right time of day to go and wear layers, with the bottom layer being a mositure absorbing shirt like Ashreinu said. A wind/running jacket will also give warmth without the bulkiness.
Or like I said earlier – the dreaded treadmill.

From my humble understandings, eretz yisroel (or maybe yerushalayim) also constitutes “aniyei ircha”, though I’d be inclined to think you should give to the local one. Ask your local Rabbi!

LOL. Do you do any running specific exercises – squats, lunges, etc to strengthen the quads, particularly the VMO?
Time Management
When you set aside time to do something, try to get it done without distractions. For example studying for an exam might take 6 hrs if you locked yourself in a room/library with cellphone off and no distractions. That same subject could take 6 days when you stop and chat, visit the fridge, “study” aka shmooze half the time with a friend, etc.
Oh, and never wait till last minute = cramming.
This has helped me get through 5+ years of college.

I agree with OP, however there is a positive side to this room as well. As a matter of fact, after reading the above messages I stopped to say tehillim and davened mincha with more kavanah. Also, take a look at the Shmiras Halashon thread, the tehillim campaign, mishnayos for the Mumbai kedoshim, etc.
Hopefully we can do more good here and help outweigh the not-so-good here.

And yes, I live in a very jewish area. I run mostly on the treadmill now, however I am itching to get it all outdoors. Given my neighborhood I would need to go some way out so as not to offend/be machshil/irritate the folks around me. I’ve already started checking out parks/trails that are not “in it” and will try to find something suitable (even if I have to drive to get there…). Sighs. That’s the price to pay for living where I do. I am very lucky to have a running partner though our schedules often conflict.
The real question, what do you wear?! 🙂

Our thread is back!! My running’s been good lately, upping the mileage a bit (against doctor’s orders). I run whenever I have time, morning, afternoon or evening.
asdf – general rule of thumb, if the cold stays “above the neck” ok to run, once you feel it in the chest, lay off. Or try the dreaded treadmill instead…
