NIGHT chance is 30%.
CsarMembergavra: It wasn’t written for Yerushalmi Yidden. Otherwise it wouldn’t have been written in English. It was written for us here in chutz.
CsarMemberWow. “job loss, illness, bereavement, challenged kids, debt” are reasons for divorce??
Woe unto us who have fallen so low!
CsarMemberTickets to the Asifa at Citi Field and Arthur Ashe Stadium were issued through the Ticketmaster system. So perhaps the Siyum tickets at Metlife were as well.
Also, the fact that they added over 10,000 seats in addition to the normal seating capacity at Metlife, indicates they sold out. Plus all the Police agencies in the Tri-State Area are aware of the massiveness of the event.
CsarMemberI once asked several of the Gedolei Yisroel (in America) about HaRav Falk shlita’s sefer. They said the sefer is the only halachicly comprehensive sefer that is useful for women and girls on a real-life day-to-day basis. And that no Jewish home should be without that Sefer.
CsarMemberIf one or both parents is a mamzer, all their children are as well.
CsarMemberI visit the colony.
CsarMemberI am not against Halacha.
You’re just againt Halachas you don’t like.
It is not brought up under any source about the halachic ramifications of attending a sporting events or following sports.
Yes it is.
CsarMemberDoes anyone know where and when the buses are leaving the Catskills to the Siyum (and how much they cost)?
CsarMemberA Rov told me most poskim hold you can sit on a regular chair after kinus, even if before chatzos. I hadn’t heard that previously. Who are rov poskim?
CsarMemberDress the way you would dress to meet Moshiach.
CsarMemberDiscuss with a Rov, first and foremost.
CsarMemberHe isn’t (and never was) her baal.
CsarMemberWith a shiksa there is always a chashash who the real father is anyways.
CsarMemberThere’s no such thing as “his non-jewish children”. They’re not halachically considered his.
That’s true. A ger’s natural parents, spouse and children from pre-geirus are also not halachically considered his parents, spouse or children.
CsarMemberAnti-Semitism is a daily occurrence, multiple times a day, in every part of the United States and the world. Even in areas of major Jewish populations, such as New York City.
CsarMemberSam: That isn’t a misstatement. Even if the reasoning is not correct (and I’m not sure if it isn’t), the conclusion is surely correct. One shouldn’t change from their families mesorah or minhagim.
golden mom: A wife accepts her husband’s minhagim upon her marriage.
CsarMemberhaving shkutzim as children, is an entirely separate problem and betrayal of Hashem, from marrying a shiksa.
I think it goes hand-in-hand. “Marrying” a sheigetz or shiksa (actually the “marriage” has no effect and they aren’t married – so essentially they are cohabiting) means they are doing the act that creates children. So the cohabitation and the having children, seem to me, are the same problem.
CsarMemberThere are plenty of Manhattan miyanim (and Kosher restaurants). Check the Agudah or OU’s Minyan Guide.
CsarMemberIf even some women will change as a result of being advised of their breach, it is well worth it.
And some will change, as one woman above herself posted she did when so advised.
July 27, 2012 9:11 pm at 9:11 pm in reply to: Getting from the Siyum to JFK for 11 PM flight #887995CsarMemberThat makes no sense. You asked if you could organize a group. How many people do you really think wants to leave the siyum right after Mincha, before it starts, to JFK??
CsarMemberIf there is a blackout in NY/NJ, the Catskills is included. That being said, you make a good point that if it is sold out the blackout should be lifted everywhere, as there is no purpose for it any more. And this way those who would like to view it, can, as they can no longer purchase a ticket. (And the siyum is not encouraging anyone to stay home by lifting the local blackout.)
CsarMemberShe is weighing down herself. She can’t just “dress the way she wants”. And it is our business. Just as it would be our business if she one day decided to go to Sunday Church services.
CsarMemberWho are you dedicating this troll thread to?
CsarMemberWhere can Rebbishe clothing (bekeshe, shirts, etc.) be purchased?
CsarMemberSome people don’t have Caller ID. You can’t always assume they’ll even know you called.
CsarMemberGuilty conscience, eh?
CsarMemberIs there going to be a live feed ANYWHERE?
CsarMemberThe people who make attacks of “The Gedolim aren’t infallible” are plain anti-semites who happen to be Jewish. Some wear yarmulkas and claim to be frum.
The fact is NO ONE EVER claimed or claims the Gedolim are infallible. It is a strawman. They hate the Torah and Judaism but are embarrassed to say so. So instead they attack the Gedolm by effectively saying the Gedolim aren’t infallible, so therefore anytime they don’t like what the Gedolim say they can say the Gedolim are wrong, so they can do whatever they want to do.
CsarMemberChacham: What does the Minchas Shlomo say?
CsarMemberThere’s more girls in shidduchim than guys. So the girl often has to accept whatever is available.
CsarMemberIt should be noted no one argues on Rav Moshe regarding sports.
CsarMemberMODS:
Please reread poster “arutz sheva is better”‘s last comment here. It has curse words AND defends a mass murderer.
CsarMemberIt’s the same idea. The nitty gritties might have some unique aspects, but the overall message is certainly the same. And the London Asifa is obviously an outgrowth of the New York Asifa. (Which is where TAG originated.) The idea from the outset was to have additional Asifa’s in the various Jewish communities.
CsarMemberSam: I take it that you do not use a Shabbos Clock on an air conditioner, per Rav Moshe’s psak? And you hold anyone who argues on that is a Zaken Mamrei or a Mored B’malchus?
(Not that anyone argues on the issur of going to a sports game. Just as a general point.)
CsarMemberI think that’s a great idea.
CsarMemberHere is a letter written verbatim by Rav Elchonon Wasserman ztl hyd in ~ 1940, describing the tradeoff between a physical danger and a spirtual danger (and about YU):
????? ?? ?????? ???? ???? ????? ??? ????? ?? ?????. ??????? ??????? ??????? ????? ??????? ?? ?????? ?”? ?????? (?????? ????? ??????????) ????? ???? ???? ???? ????? ???????? ?????? ?? ?????? ???? ???????? ?? ??????? ???? ?????? ??? ??? ????? ????? ?????? ????? ???????
The Ksav Yad is readily available.
CsarMemberSam, yeshivishsocrates disagrees with your answer.
I recently bought a Chasidish white shirt, not realizing it was any different, and had a hard time getting my hands to button it.
CsarMemberWhen they are straight out of high school or sem, they ARE Rochel Ameinu. Best time to marry them is then.
As time progresses, and high school sem becomes more of a memory than a lifestyle, they become more distant from the Torah ideals.
Catch them while they are young and full of love of Torah.

July 26, 2012 4:05 am at 4:05 am in reply to: HELP! Need Tickets To Siyum HaShas! Last Minute! #888318CsarMember$100 for an $18 ticket?
CsarMemberBeautiful. Sounds virtually the same as the message given to us by Gedolei Yisroel at the Kinus Klal Yisroel Asifa in New York with Rivivos Alfei Yisroel of over 50,000 men in attendance and tens of thousands more men and women remotely participating live.
CsarMemberWhy do the white shirts of Chasidim, which otherwise looks exactly the same as Litvaks white shirts, have the buttons on the other side of the shirt?
CsarMemberWith 50% of MO youth texting on Shabbos, they are not any better off than where Matisyahu started off.
July 5, 2012 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm in reply to: MUST READ- Real Solutions to the Internet Challenge #922740CsarMemberThere is a vast vast difference between something that causes a humongous amount of destruction (such as inappropriate internet usage) and something that causes destruction in very limited circumstances or frequency (such as eating or shopping disorders.)
CsarMemberRav Elyashev shlita referred to the Israeli Kenesset as a botei minus.
CsarMemberFunction Key 1, Function Key 2, etc.
CsarMemberSam: Instead of proposing your boich svaras or repeating YU reinterpretations, crack open the Meshech Chochmah. I gave a maare makom, so spare the “I am not familiar with that Meshech Chochmah, but I find it hard to believe”. I also told you what the pasuk in the Megilla says.
July 5, 2012 5:38 am at 5:38 am in reply to: MUST READ- Real Solutions to the Internet Challenge #922714CsarMemberWhat’s the difference whether you classify it as its own disorder/problem or if you classify it as a disorder subset problem of another disorder. Either way it is a massive massive problem in society.
