@Chaim87 Not sure if R’ Eliyashiv or R’ Shlomo Zalman were “talmidim” of R’ Kook (although R” Kook was R’ ELiyahivs misader kiddushin)
Also, Ponovizh does have the israeli flag on yom haatzmaut, but the Ponovizfer Rav did not say hallel. The story goes when asked why he had the flag raised but did not say hallel, he answered, “I say the same hallel just like ben gurion”.

@coffee addict – If I remember correctly, from Rabbi Millers seforim on history, he says that bar kamtza was a tzedoki, and that is the reason that the Chachamim did not protest when he was asked to leave. They were afraid that whatever was being discussed would be brought back to the romans. I believe that Rabbi Miller quoted the Maharsh”a, but I don’t remember 100%.
I actually just googled, “was bar kamtza a saducee”, and what came back was as follows: “According to the Talmud, Bar Kamtza was a wealthy and prominent citizen of Jerusalem who was trusted by high-ranking Roman officials. Historians have suggested that Bar Kamtza was part of a faction that wanted to cooperate with the Romans”. So Rabbi Millers assertion seems to be historically accurate and plausible.

Please don’t say that satmar is “misusing” the 3 shavuos. It is 100% a machlokes haposkim, and who are we to decide the halacha? everyone agrees that the Satmar Ruv z”l was a goan. If you don’t want to pakin like him, becasue you have your poskim, that’s fine. But it is a very valid shita in halacha (I won’t even get into that most ashkenzic poskim actually held this before the creation of the state).

Just like you don’t want satmar yidden to say that your shita has no mekor, don’t say it about the satmar shita (which again is not only satmar. It’s only that the Satmar Ruv wrote a few seforim on the subject)

NK is a sperate matter entirely, as they are the ONLY ones in klal Yiroel who will protest together with our enemies. No legitimate gadol biYisroel held that you can do that, so they “misusing” the satmar shita in that way.

@n0mesorah even though there were no official “seforim” yet at that time, there were always private kuntreisim that people used to chazer

I’ve been to Shoprite a few times and was never impressed with their prices compared to the heimishe stores. That being said, not all heimishe stores charge such great prices either. That’s why most of our weekly shopping is done at a certain store, and any fill in items that we need are done at one of the others.

@DaMoshe – There is always yeridos hadoros. Do you think that anyone goes in the way of the Gr”a anymore? We are all trying the best that we can for the year תשפ”ג. The chassdish through the teachings of the Besh”t and the yeshivish through the teachings of the Gr”a and R’ Chaim volozhiner.
