Don’t be foolish. Goyim hate yidden, period. They always did. It’s in all their religious books, etc. We are living in golus, and this is the case anywhere, any place. That being said, some goyim were far more murderous to us than others. The Arabs, for 2,000 years up to the early 20th Century with the advent of Zionism, were FAR FAR better to yidden living in their lands than their muderous Christian counterparts. The Europeans, from the time of the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash through all the crusades through all the blood libels through the recent holocaust in the 20th century, were FAR FAR more deadly and murderous against us than the Arabs ever were. For most of history we lived in relative peace and properity in the Arab lands, especially as compared to our dismal living conditions at the same time in the non-Arab lands, most notably Europe. All this, of course, do not negate the times the Arabs have been hurting us even prior to the advent of Zionism.

oh bro: You are dead wrong. The Chareidim DO work. And they work without a secular education. And they will continue to work without a secular education. Whether you like it or not.

There is no doubt at all that the Arabs became 1,000 times more violent to the Jews ever since the Zionists announced their intention to make Palestine into a Jewish State (around the time of the Balfour Declaration) and especially since a State was actually established.

Chareidim DO work. Whether as melamdim or many other positions. Stop repeating that canard that they do not work.

Secondly, the Israeli government has a law where it is ILLEGAL TO WORK until age 28, for Chareidim who didn’t join the Army. So if you want to see more Chareidi employment, or more precisely – legal (on the books) employment, REPEAL THAT LAW. We are not going to enlist but we certainly are willing and want to work.

Certainly it was far better to be subjugated under the Arabs (as unpleasent as it was) than to have been subjugated under the Christians.

It actually scares me that anyone can be in denial about the truths akuperma and others post.

ALL goyim hate us because we’re Jewish, Arab and Christian. But the Arabs were egged to extra violence against us by the Zionists.

I completely concur with akuperma. Friday and Shabbos, as currently set, is the far better option for a 5-day workweek, for the reasons explained by akuperma (Shabbos preparation and Friday has to be a half-day no matter what.)

But a 4-day workweek with Sunday off, and a 10-hour workday, is food for thought.

Being “anti-rock throwers” is akin to being “anti-graffiti vandalism”. Who isn’t that? EVERYONE is anti these things. Do you go around yelling what terrible people blacks are due to the graffiti vandalism they commit? Of course not! Their youth engaged in such vandalism are a small minority of their community and do not represent the community one iota. No one would dare criticize the black community due to the graffiti vandalism!

Yet, regarding the frum yidden — for some folks here — it is perfectly acceptable in their twisted thinking to criticize “chareidim” for what a very very small number of fellows do. Despite the fact that rabbonim where they live have repeatedly and severely critcized their misguided action. These small number of fellows — who represent no one and are an even smaller element of the frum community than the graffiti vandals are an element of their minority community — do not listen to any rabbis.

Technically, anyone with smicha can confer smicha on anyone else. IOW, if a 21 year old has smicha, he can give smicha to his 18 year old friend.

The anti-semites hate the frum out of jeoulosy. They see what we lack materially we more than make up with happiness and spirituality. Something these anti-religious are sorely lacking.

That they latch on to the 3 or so people (out of hundreds of thousands of frum yidden) throwing stuff, is nothing more than a pretext for their hatred.

The number of people throwing rocks at cars on Shabbos are in the single digits. They are a non-entity and represent no one. (Besides, there is nothing you can do about every bored soul who has no rabbi and listens to no one, which is exactly who and what they are.)

Below 2.0 out of 4.0? That’s a lot of leeway. Very few in Yeshivas would fall below the equivelent of 2.0. (Besides, even a 1.0 Torah student is protecting Klal Yisroel as much as a 4.0 Torah student. It isn’t results or test marks that count. It is effort.)

I thought in Israel the government gives grants to university students even if they aren’t doing any additional work.

Yesh Atid is pretty clear they wish to force chareidim into the draft with more than just a threat of loss of benefits. They are talking fines and criminal penalties.

Yserbius: The chiloni Israeli government is NOT giving us a choice (even under the new proposals to change the law) of going to work without going through army service. So as you agree that army is not a realistic option for us, even if someone were to want to go to work instead of Kollel he couldn’t do so (since he didn’t do army service.)

And, btw, I believe your tax percentages to be way off.

I’d definitely say it is easier for a BT to go OTD than for an FFB. It going back to somewhere he already was, whereas for an FFB it is breaking new ground. I’d also say it is more prevelent with BTs (percentage wise).

I don’t have actual numbers to know that, though.

tsharer: Brides wearing white gowns is an original Jewish custom mimicked by the goyim.

Yserbus: When do we stand up for the Kallah? That is unusual by frum weddings. (Other than by the chupa when you stand up for the Chosson when he walks in and remain standing till everyone’s under the chupa. But that is clearly the Jewish minhag of Choson doma l’melech, a choson and kalla are king and queen.)

This bridesmaid business is a clear chukas hagoyim, as akuperma and others pointed out.
