    @DaMoshe, Household is total income divided by the number of people, Lakewood has larger families so the number is smaller.

    @Menachem,
    “1) The challenges of today aren’t the same as those of yesteryear”, your right, it was much worse I spoke to people who lived in der heim, organized religion was shoved down your throat, my grandmothers public school class picture in Poland has the priest in the picture, and lets go back a few centuries forced shmad etc. don’t kid yourself it was much worse, yet the Gra, the Maggid, the Rambam just to name a few never felt compelled to parade around town with a menorah on the horse and wagon.

    2) you are being up a whole different topic and yes they there organized demonstrations in der heim of yid vs yid.
    Sorry pal but we are not in the business to compete with Santa. [unless Santa is a frum guy like the one in Atlanta]

    @Square Root, I went yeshiva HS with no secular studies, I transferred my yeshiva credits to a Catholic College who accepted them and waive everything minus the core requirements, I graduated with a 3.5 GPA with a Safety Engineering degree with emphasis in Occupational Safety and worked as a Safety Engineer and a Risk Manager.
    I am assuming you never heard on Dr. Abraham J Twerski Ztl, Prof Aaron Twerski, Mottel Twerski CPA ZL, I know at least two dozen medical professionals who skipped HS and an equal number of lawyers.

    @AAQ, I never asked for an apology from you, you may have been guilty of going off topic and discussing MO vs Chasidish /Charedi, you were not the one who took a cheap shot at these communities.
    @ Amil, it’s a shame you were not in the East Coast this week, I would have gotten you tickets to the Orthodox Consruction trade show, in where there was 100’s of booths of various companies involved in construction with the average company booking 50M in annual sales. [ps the owner may or may not know who Amilia B is, but he has a net worth 100X of yours]

    @AAQ, no I caught you many times quoting what a living person had recently said and used it in your post, in this case what Rav Feldman, Rav Sortoskin, R Hauer, R Schechter said. You can quote Meir Kahane and Sholomo Carlebach all day long if you want and I could not care less.
    Almost all apikosrim had huge seforim libraries, the fact that you have one does not impress me in the least.

    @ Amil its beyond me how anyone could even remotely construe this as a question, “Reb, I doubt most here have not read Amelia Bedelia. You may have to explain it to them.” in reality it’s a cheap shot edited

    PS Not only have my kids read Amilia Bedelia and all the classics, they also know who Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Monet are, and who Beethoven, Bach and Chopin are, they all wear chasidisher Levush, speak a flawless English and send the kids to chasidisher yeshivas.

    To quote @white car “I know you like to think of us as uneducated brainwashed fools who won’t eat breakfast unless we ask a shailah to our Rav.
    You need to open your eyes and mind and stop believing the fantasies that you read and project about us.”
    I think an apology from you would be a nice start.

    @Amil, its not just this post but in general the dismissive nature of post in regards to charadi and chasidim, this is what you wrote “Reb, I doubt most here have not read Amelia Bedelia. You may have to explain it to them.” does that sound like a clarifying question or a put down?
    Being that you live in the PWN I doubt if you have interactions with Charadi/Chasidish people on a daily basis.
    PS My offer stands, in fact I can introduce you to several people of FT 500 list, bankers, and insurance companies owners who are proud charadi/ chasidish in addition to the doctors and lawyer I mentioned before.

    @AAQ, way off topic, the only reason I even mentioned this is because of Amil’s gratuitous cheap shot at the black hat and chasidish communities, she was not taking a cheap shot at the historical norms of the Sefardish community, try to stick to the topic at hand.

    @Amil, I am from chasidish stock [ actually from a rebbish family] I read Curious George as a very young child, went on to Amilea Bedelia, to Mark Twain and Jack London etc. That being said I would seriously hesitate to expose children these days to the books out there, you can hardly find a book there that is not peddling absolute drivel about diversity, environmentalism etc.

    I echo whitecar thoughts about how you view Chasidish / Black Hat people, anytime you are ready to come from PWN to the NY metro region I will be glad to introduce you to some very successful Doctors, Lawyers, Business owners even some members of NYPD who have beards, payis and do not feel compelled to hid ones yiddishkiet,

    “You can easily get a chain from Satmar rebbe to r Schachter: thru Moshe and r Soloveitchik.”
    I too have a chain to Meir Kahane, I used the same cleaning lady as someone who learned in the mir flatbush who used the same facilities that Meir Kahane occasionally used,
    I also have a chain to Amrom Blau because I was in my friend’s car who gave a hitch to Moshe Ber Beck who was a disciple of Amrom Blau, in addition I have a chain to Yankel Feferkorn who pelted the aforementioned with eggs.

    @Kuvult, in the early 2000 I worked for one of the 3 Library systems NYC and the yeshivas were making a big deal about unfettered library use, when I went to reregister my kids for the new year and assistant principal was going thru the forms and he asked me what about library use I took out my work ID and said I go there daily and spend hours there, he laughed and said get out of my office.

    That being said I can tell firsthand the library system a bastion of the far far left but I think everyone knew that, but cutting back on Sunday hours = being antisemitic is a huge stretch.

    @Damoshe, No one besides the YU crowd looks to R Hershel Schecter for guidance, and even that is suspect because the YU crowd tends to do whatever they want regardless of what a rav says, I really doubt if more than 5 people would have had a change of heart if Schechter would have said not to go whereas 1000s did not go because of Rav Feldman said not to go.

    How did we morph from Chasidish OOT to MO dying to mixed seating?
    in the Lita or anywhere in Europe they did not have mix affairs by anyone who held themself to be frum and wanted to be buried in a Jewish cemetery. The norm of 50/60/70 years ago is not the norm of today, back then you had rebbish invitations asking people to dress tzenusdik and rampant chillul shabbos.
    While i have a huge respect of the YI movement and what they did to preserve yiddishkiet back then the fact the MO movement began to wither away from the 90s onwards, 3/4 of YIs can barely scape together a minyan and a number of the dying YI were hijacked by Chabad otherwise then would have long since folded.

    @Zeff, firstly welcome to the CR and congratulations on your first post, to place a geder for our children in 100% normal, its not knocking the other guy it’s our chumra, for example I hold by Cholev Yisroel, do I knock the other person who hold cholev akum? no I just won’t take a coffee in his house, likewise if he is makpid on yoshov and I’m not same holds true.
    To compare a rally with female singers [ that happens to be 100% lo khalacha] to a trade show is absurd, you obviously never attended a trade show.

    @Takeh, the Mo communities are slowly dying out, average age in a Young Israel is 75 and membership is plummeting, the kids are either going black hat or not frum and FYI we are in golus in EY Oct 7 just proved it.

    @Damoshe
    the MO shul in Linden was barely able to make a minyan, now you have a kosher grocery, bagel shop and mikva things that never existed there before

    @AAQ, you were very open in your contempt for people who follow their daas torah especially during covid, I have zero problem with someone who is consistent in his/her belief even if it opposite then mine. Where I have an issue is after the amount of ridicule that you heaped on people who followed daas torah to turn around and say they must do x [in this case go to a rally] because daas torah says so is the ultimate in hypocrisy and hubris.

    There have been many factors in antisemitism. Conspicuous consumption fans jealousy. When rulers and aristocrats became indebted to Jews they borrowed from, libels freed them from their obligations. When priests couldn’t explain to their followers why Jews were successful, trumped up accusations followed with pogroms, when goyim murdered people, they could blame the Jews to hide their guilt, when armies ran low on money and provisions, dispossess the Jews to fund wars and enrich soldiers. The list of excuses is really enormous. Underlying much of it is our successful orientation to life (from the Torah), our success in almost any and all socioeconomic environments, our communal orientation, value of knowledge, adherence to ancient traditions, and our innovative perspectives. Yet, the Japanese and Chinese, are also very successful, and don’t face our obstacles. Is it because they were never chosen to receive the Torah, and have a special relationship to the Creator? Or perhaps they were never in such close proximity to enormous competing religious offshoots, as we have?
