    I am not yelling at all, I ignored the topic for 3 days and she seemed hurt by the response or lack thereof, so I told her as a newbie not to expect much.

    @ Amil, yep this thread is about frum people who were elected to a local governmental position open to all people to chose, to be elected to a charity, political party post or a union is not like being elected by all people.

    @Coffee
    , Mr. Lobl was a Democratic political operative for many years, in fact worked directly for Andy Cuomo, to pretend otherwise is disingenuous. As to the silly argument about the majority, Missy Miller who held the seat till now was GOP and the 5 towns did not suffer, Monsey is represented by Mike Lawler who is GOP and Monsey did not suffer.

    @coffee addict, He was asked point blank this question during a interview and he would not answer the question, wow that really shows backbone.
    @Amil, being elected in a union post is meaningless because unless you a member of that union you can’t vote, its like saying one was elected to the NRA or AARP.

    Right before Peasch there was a special election in the 5 towns for a vacant State Assembly position, a frum Republican named Ari Brown won the election becoming the first frum republican to win election to the state legislature in NYS [ there are already 3 frum democrats]

    @Jackk, No one is forced to go on a airplane, train etc. if they don’t feel comfortable with the idea, they can also fly wearing a mask, double masked, a N95 or a bunny suit, read the ruling this has ZERO with a “nevua that covid is no longer infect people” and EVERYTHING to do with governmental overreach.
    PS Judge Sonia Sotomayor was about the same age when she got appointed to the federal bench.

    PS Judge Brown Jackson was a mere 5 years older then this judge when she was appointed to the bench, and given that you get senior status at age 65 so she has at least 30 more years on the bench to aggravate you.

    @Reb Shlomo, the Gatlinburg retreat was organized by Al Thomas of Memphis, [ the hotel owner] and this had nothing to do with the OU, the hotel was sold and the retreat ended in the early 2000s. Having been there I can tell you for a fact that there is no sefer torah there, you either need to bring your own or borrow from Chabad in Knoxville or Chattanoga or one of the shuls in Atlanta.

    @Huju
    “I sense that Gadolha and Common Saychel have doubts about Chabad’s readiness to raise a minyan. And yet Common S tells us Chabad did help him/her raise a minyan.”
    Avram in MD is correct and making a daily minyan is not biggest priority for them [given all the other things they deal with], in my case I called a few weeks before and rov minyan was my family, most of the shluchim are very upfront that there is no minyan, if you have a yartzite and are in some far flung place and need to say kaddish they will try the best to find 8 other jews somewhere but don’t count on it.

    Post on Godaven, I always had luck there, in fact when I was in Gatlinburg, we posted on Godaven and had 20 plus people at the minyan for the entire week we were there.
    When I was at Lake Powell in 2020 the parking lot of Horseshoe Bend looked like Shomer Shabbos with 4 pop up minyanim for mincha -mariv.

    @huju
    , unless you are in a major tourist or business center Chabad does not have minyanim except for shabbos and even that is iffy in sometimes, I once prearranged a minyan for shabbos with shalich, we were 6, shalich and his family were 3 and one local.

    Your post 12/21.
    “would it be irrealistic for a 23 year old, sephardi, out of towner, law student from a divorced family with a modest income and modox background expect to find a good shidduch in in-town places? not looking for controversy, just the simple truth to not waste time.”
    Your post today:
    “would a full time learning bachur ever go out with a medical student?”

    That pretty much sizes things up.
