April 11, 2022 3:22 pm at 3:22 pm in reply to: Minyan Chol hamoed in Great Smoky Mountain Park #2077540commonsaychelParticipant@Reb Shlomo, the Gatlinburg retreat was organized by Al Thomas of Memphis, [ the hotel owner] and this had nothing to do with the OU, the hotel was sold and the retreat ended in the early 2000s. Having been there I can tell you for a fact that there is no sefer torah there, you either need to bring your own or borrow from Chabad in Knoxville or Chattanoga or one of the shuls in Atlanta.
@Huju “I sense that Gadolha and Common Saychel have doubts about Chabad’s readiness to raise a minyan. And yet Common S tells us Chabad did help him/her raise a minyan.”
Avram in MD is correct and making a daily minyan is not biggest priority for them [given all the other things they deal with], in my case I called a few weeks before and rov minyan was my family, most of the shluchim are very upfront that there is no minyan, if you have a yartzite and are in some far flung place and need to say kaddish they will try the best to find 8 other jews somewhere but don’t count on it.April 11, 2022 8:54 am at 8:54 am in reply to: Minyan Chol hamoed in Great Smoky Mountain Park #2077338commonsaychelParticipantPost on Godaven, I always had luck there, in fact when I was in Gatlinburg, we posted on Godaven and had 20 plus people at the minyan for the entire week we were there.
When I was at Lake Powell in 2020 the parking lot of Horseshoe Bend looked like Shomer Shabbos with 4 pop up minyanim for mincha -mariv.
@huju, unless you are in a major tourist or business center Chabad does not have minyanim except for shabbos and even that is iffy in sometimes, I once prearranged a minyan for shabbos with shalich, we were 6, shalich and his family were 3 and one local.April 8, 2022 7:36 am at 7:36 am in reply to: I took the 2 shots & 1 booster should i take the next one ? #2076886commonsaychelParticipantAsk an opinion of a trained professional who you entrusted your health till now? neh not a chance, you are much better off asking bunch of random untrained people on a blog.
commonsaychelParticipantAri, sorry you have some major growing up to do, just like I would not lend 100K to some random stranger I would not marry one either.
Both require major vetting.commonsaychelParticipant@ari so why start this thread in the first place?
commonsaychelParticipant@Marxist the Nanny
@Ysirbus123, I know of a ft learning bucher who left kollel and became a MD and is very successful much to busha of his wife’s family who wanted someone who would be in kollel forever and evercommonsaychelParticipant@ huju, your first Jewish teach had you color in class? Interesting so did mine, we use to color every day in kindergarten.
commonsaychelParticipant@GH, sadly the Litvaks picked up the bad habits and they do that too, loads of pics of them in Florida, Alps etc.

Its Bein Hazamanim troll timecommonsaychelParticipantmost come to the US to collect money, a working vacation I guess
commonsaychelParticipant@amom, in spite of the trollish nature of the OP, let me ask you the reverse, would you be happy if your husband was a CFO and you being a babysitter or a teachers aide?
commonsaychelParticipant@mechachem, welcome to the bain hazmain troll club, now go help your mother clean for peasch.
commonsaychelParticipantYour post 12/21.
“would it be irrealistic for a 23 year old, sephardi, out of towner, law student from a divorced family with a modest income and modox background expect to find a good shidduch in in-town places? not looking for controversy, just the simple truth to not waste time.”
Your post today:
“would a full time learning bachur ever go out with a medical student?”That pretty much sizes things up.

April 3, 2022 8:48 am at 8:48 am in reply to: Hours before attack: venomous headline in Haaretz #2074996commonsaychelParticipant@ujm, Yup and that collaboration saved the Satmar Rebbe.
PS while we are on the subject I find the whole massive Kof Aleph party repugnant, how can one make a massive party about the saving of one person when six million people died.commonsaychelParticipantThat old news, there was a number of rebbe / rosh reshivas who dies in NY in 2000 and the we had 9/11
commonsaychelParticipant@ Avram, I guess if asking my shalos to my posek is wrong, I am proud to be wrong.
commonsaychelParticipant@shunky being that you are a newbie [I assume] please be more detailed when you start a thread, it looked like you were asking halacha limaysa.
@ubiquitn not every root canal is a shyla.commonsaychelParticipant@Marxist, we don’t pasken out own shalos by reading a halacha book or asking a bunch of random people online nor do we do our own root canal by reading a dental textbook.
commonsaychelParticipant@marxist, that is called draying ah kup not asking a shalah on a halacha lmasah, if he cant find a rov [btw if he is married he better find one ASAP] he should refrain from eating pizza until he finds a rov.
commonsaychelParticipantwhat happened to the Rabbi in Far Rockaway who shul was opened during Covid? certain people threaten to close him down
commonsaychelParticipant@marxist, “Not everyone has a Rav. (I am not saying the OP doesn’t necessarily, just that there are people that don’t)”
So what is the solution? ask a bunch of random people online who may or may not know what they are talking about, yup GREAT IDEA!commonsaychelParticipant@ubquitin, I would have the same reaction if he posted a medical question, people did training and are experts in both fields
commonsaychelParticipant@frolick2 Try peddling that to the kollel crowd who demand x years of support from the shver, but we are getting off subject.
commonsaychelParticipant@shunky, this whole thread is puzzling to me, do you go up to random strangers in the street and ask for medical advice? do you want around with cash and go up to some random person and ask him to invest it for you? then why ask a halacha lmishya question to a bunch of ramdom people online instead of asking your rav who paskens your shalos.
commonsaychelParticipant@ari there is a yiddish expression ver hut der mayer hut der dayah, in other words the one who holds the purse strings calls the shots, unless the single is ready to pay for the entire wedding he/she is best off keeping quiet.
commonsaychelParticipant@meir, technically they can elope and pay for the own wedding but that is never going to happen
commonsaychelParticipant@yaakov doe, 3 would be? a chazir
commonsaychelParticipantConsult your LOR
commonsaychelParticipant@Sam Klein, I am very impressed, there has not been a novi in over 2000 years and we have someone who speaks to hashem and get direct messages.
commonsaychelParticipant@inquestve, have you ever pursed professional help for all your pent up anger?
commonsaychelParticipantWhat happened to the guy from BP who said everyone should inform?
commonsaychelParticipantStop being a troll and the zechus will help you find one
commonsaychelParticipant“What should we be doing? ” you should trop acting like a troll
commonsaychelParticipantMost big cities [NYC MIA ORLANDO LA] have a Israeli minyan, ask around
commonsaychelParticipantA even better segula for parnassah is to work hard and focus on getting the job done
commonsaychelParticipantI watched him listen to people with klutz kashas who just wanted to say they asked him a question and thought nothing about wasting his time
commonsaychelParticipanttry woolite
