just remember that grades are not the most important thing!! no one really cares what if you get 100s or 90s or 80s…. try your best, have fun, and learn the important lessons in life…. the ones that will make you a better person in the real world…

i used to dx3, it helped sooo much when i had to manually insert bec i wasnt doing it quick enough bec i felt it, so it hurt MORE… but when i numbed it with the emla it really made it easier! now the omnipod does it itself sooo fast that i dont feel a thing so i dont need it….

sweet- funny how ur doc said that bec mine said that if i got low during the fast i SHOULD suspend…thats the reason i did it… weird no? i guess it jst shows that there are many ways to treat D. and i know i shldve broken it….. i wouldve if it kept dropping… im sure you know how hard it is!!!

Reb- no you should NOT NOT fast!!! if YOUR rov said you shouldnt you shouldnt and you should NOT FEEL BAD!!! you do whats best for you!!!!!!! honestly… if i wldve known how difficult it wld be for me this time i wouldnt have done it. hopefully we should not have another Tisha Baav so we wont have this issue anymore!!!!

i had a very hard time fasting for some reason. started out in high 100s all was fine, but then woke up at 3 am in 70s. suspended insulin for half hour, still didnt go up, so did for another half hour. woke up at 11 am with BS in 200s!!!! (NIGHTMARE!!!! i was sooo thirsty!!) took half correction, but then by 230 i was in 80s again and dropping, by 5 pm i was in low 70s (even with suspending….) spent the rest of teh day in low 80s…. at one point i was 67 but i refused to break it so i said ill wait a while to see if it goes up, and it did so BH i didnt have to break! all this was after reducing my basal by 30%!!! it was a roller coater of ups and downs!! it was so hard!!! i dont know what happened!!!

going to my doc in septemeber so ill be able to discuss with her abt yom kippur! this cant happen then!!!!

my sister READ it sorry!!! lol

it bothers me soooo much that people thik they KNOW everything because they read abt it in textbooks or medical articals so then they have tha bility to write abt it. could be the author of the article is diabetic or is a doc idk and she/he could be right abt everything and the article could be spot on but i dont want to read it. when tralala wrote that was diff becasue A) i know that she knows what shes talking about bec she has D B)ive heard her opinions before and i agree with them. its just not worth the heartache of thinking im being JUDGED from the author. but again i didint read it so i dont know whether or not i would like it… lol

my sister it. i personally dont like to read any articles written by a non diabetic abt diabetes because they speak as if they know when they have no idea. most of them end up irritating me so i dont start

woooooow dx3 thats a BIG difference for one hour!!! did you go low later in the day? when i go swimming i am always low after but thats after 30 min on eliiptical then 30 min swimming. i test before i leave my house then i have a coffee without bolusing for it and i dont correct if its high (i usuakly wake up with good numbers though…) then afer the first 30 min i eat a pack of winkies then go swim and thet i test when i get home. but im always low after anyways… and then i am STARVING!!! i eat anything i could get my hands on (which is prob why i cant lose any weight…. its a VICIOUS cycle!!!!!!)

reb- theres no reason to feel bad!! i only very recently started to fast on tisha baav. i figured id try and if i cant i wont and i was able to (thats with staying in bed most of the day..) but u said it right on the dot..”it just is not our mitzva to fast… ” its our mitzva to take care of ourselves! it says in the Torah “Vnishmartem es Nafshosechem” we need to take care of ourselves!!!!

tralala- AMAZING!!! congradulations!!! im sure it was so hard and you should be soooo proud 😉 😉 😉 😉

tralala- in the beginning i didnt fast on yom kippur at all either but as i grew older and got in better control i was able to do it…. i stay in bed a lot on tisha baav and test every hour…. its scary!!

princess- 45 is WAAAAY too low!!! its low for regular especially for a fast day!!!

dx3- how did you manage to fast? thats impressive!!!!

sunburn is actually BH BLI AYIN HARA improving!!!

i am not fasting (i only do tsha bav and yom kippur.. have hard enough time with that…) i always feel bad eating though… i just think that at this point eating is MY mitzva because obviously if Hashem gave me D then this is what He wants of me and its a mitzva for me to take care of myself i guess…idk. people used to say to me “youre so lucky you dont have to fats” and im like “youre JOKING right?!?!” i wish i wouldnt have to not fast… but BH people realized what they were saying and they stopped!!!

princess- fasting is so hard how u managing? my doc once said that even though she doesnt think its good for me to fast and said i shouldnt if i dont have to, she thinks fasting is a goos way to test your basals, bec if theyre really what they should be then one cld technically be able to be level all day… so by tshv baav i always pay close attention to the patterns, even thiough i do a temp basal….

for those of you who are fasting… how low to you let it go before breaking? i will IyH set a limit for myself like if it goes under 65 ill eat. (i jst picked 65 idk what number i should use…)

metoo- i swim almost every day… i happen to not suspend my pump jst bec i keep forgetting…. im always low when i get home… as far as you shooting right up, could it be that your body is going low so you have the “rebound affect” meaning the body senses the low and releases sugar from the liver to compensate for the low… i have that at nights a lot especially on days i swim. for me the lows come right after and then again like 6 to 7 hours later… really frustraing!! i would think to maybe do the temp basal for an hour or 2 after… but not much higher bec then your likely to shoot right down VERY low…. its tricky

sweet- im still trying to figure out the swimming…. my BSs have not been as they were lately idk whats going on… theyre not terrible but theres definately someting wrong…. im high aftr eating when i give plenty bolus, then i go low at the oddest times then SPRING back up to the high 100s even when i drink the same juice i always did when i was low…worst part is that i dont see a pattern so i dont know how to fix it!!!. idk what to do!!

ive been waking up with high numbers lately…. its so weird!! anyone think it has anything to do with me being on vaca and therefore waking up later so my body isnt used to missing the morning bolus…. thats my theory… does that make sense? any suggestions for how to fix it?

first- yes there is only one lifeguard on duty in 3 hour shifts. and i would assume shes getting paid. shes also not talking on the phone, she talks to people IN the pool face to face, as of yet i have not heard her talking on the phone, only texting and glancing up every few seconds (BH for that…)

my problem with talking to her first is that she is a marrried woman while i am a single girl. i just feel dumb! what would i say? i am so not the type to say something straight out! should i just try to avoid her shift and hope everything turns out ok for everyone else?! or do i tell the director without telling her which LG it is? like maybe she could make a meeting and “review the rules”?

gamzi- WELCOME!!! im so excited to have a new memeber of our club! (though i wish we didnt have to have a club if you know what i mean!)

i am on the omnipod!! ive had it for close to 2 years now! ive never really had what you say about the 3rd day but its an interesting thought. i wonder if insulin gets less ‘strong’. i am gonna keep an eye on it. i just changed my pod yesterday but tomorrow i’ll pay attention 😉

how long have you had D for? how are you ‘managing’? so excited for another diabetes friend! hope you find this helpful!!

my take- prediabetes is for type 2 which is not my “specialty” lol since i have type 1! but from what i understand is that it’s a warning to the person to get into better shape or diabetes will come. i would imagine that weight loss would resolve it. again i have no clue if this is true or not but this is what i would think. i know that type 2 can be resolved with significant weight loss sometimes. what i would suggest is that this person go on a low carb/sugar diet. as little as possible. and what would really help is exercise! walking, running, swimming, etc. would really do wonders! im sorry i cant be of substantial help as i am just a type 1 and thats different than a type 2 but i hope that this helped a little!! keep us posted!!!! good luck!!!

i started swimming again today! yay! feels really good to do such intense exercise as opposed to my regular 20 minutes of walking on the tredmill. my prob is that its SO confusing sometimes because what should my levels be BEFORE i go, what about AFTER? and im STARVING when i get home, so do i bolus normally for what i eat? a little less cuz i know its gonna drop….

last summer i wasnt as controled as i am now BH BH BLI AYIN HARA! so its confusing me a bit! any suggestions?!?

i hae the sensor allsgr8 i havent used it since february, i like it but i wouldnt reccomend it for use all the time especially if youre trying to keep it a secret. i find it annoying to have to keep the handheld thing with me all the time becasue most of my skirts dont have pockets and therefore i dont have anywhere to keep it through the day. when i do wear it i have one skirt that has pockets… plus it BURNS and ITCHES after 2 days. i usually wear it for one week per month but it didnt work out to use it for a while. i do like seeing how it goes up and down responding to the food etc but idk i just havent usd mine lately…..

dx3- doesnt the prebolusing work WONDERS?!?! it really helps me keep good control!!

its all from Hashem. HE is really giving me stregnth!
