Neville — the posthumous assault allegations fit into the same category of public misdeeds done and known during his lifetime, just on a larger scale.

Benignuman — If celebrating the man disturbs you, presumably you accept the veracity of the allegations.

Would those defending him here by saying we should separate the end-result product from its producer similarly defend enjoying a molester’s work that is unrelated to his crimes?

Putting aside the question as to whether this is even L”H, there’s no prohibition against L”H on someone who is deceased.

MR: Firstly, her sports entails dressing pritzudik. It is a chillul Hashem that she dressed like that and was in public like that. And secondly the Olympics itself is the antithesis of Torah Judaism.

Itch: We don’t proselytize goyim to become Jewish. And a goy cannot keep halacha. (If you keep Shabbos you are chayiv misa.)

Sam: I disagree with your characterizing it as “taking loshon hora too far.” What you are describing isn’t loshon hora altogether.

Eilu V’eilu is very far from “live and let live”. Live and let live would include if someone else is sinning. It would mean live and let him sin. Live for yourself and don’t worry about other’s sins.

That is very very far from Eilu V’eilu.

Yes, Kozov is correct. There is a chiyuv to eat meat those days, and vegetarians are oiver an aveira by refraining. (If they aren’t an onus due to ill health from it.)

I suppose Sam would have no problem with someone working on Shabbos if “all” his job is having corporate meetings that day.

Ally Raisman made a chillul Hashem just being part of the Olympics. Look how many otherwise good Jews mistakenly thought she did something right. And I don’t even need to see a picture to know that the type of sport she participates in requires her to publicly display pritzus.

Sam said “So too, taking any concept too far can have terrible, terrible consequences.” I take Sam to mean that taking rechilus and lashon hara too far is no good either. Sam will explain why in a follwup comment.

Or is it you are only angry at yeshiva bochorim who try to get out of a ticket but if a cop pulled you over, you’d be okay trying to weasel out of getting a ticket?

Even putting aside the tarfus… what good is accomplished by making a memorial for terror victims at the Olympics? If it is so good, why don’t you give a drasha on Shabbos about it? And why, davka, those terror victims? And what good is doing it at the Olympics?

Having said that, the event was the most thrilling experience for me; as if everyone there was your best friend and sharing a mutual simcha. We need to have stadium achdus generating events at least every other year

I agree. B”H this year we had two stadium events 3 months apart. The next asifa should be about the tznius crisis, just as the last was about the internet crisis. And Yankee Stadium is 50% larger than Citi Field, so they won’t have to rent out Arthus Ashe as a second venue.

“What other people do isnt anyone elses buisness.”

Wrong. It is everyone elses business. Kol Yisroel Areivem…

“But guess what this is ok for me!!”

It isn’t okay for you, even if you think so. Everyone is obligated to correct your halachic errors that is leading you to sin.

And none of your so-called “counterarguments” could be viewed as justifying refraining from eating meat entirely. At most it is to limit the amount or time when meat is consumed. But all agree meat should be consumed on various times or occasions.

If you would say you eat meat – but not meat originating from animals on a factory farm – and only eat meat not originating from a factory farm, I could certainly understand.

But when one says they refuse to eat meat altogether, and latches unto “factory farming” as his excuse for that behavior, he is being disingenuous and is in fact simply taking an apikorsus position. Whether consciously or subconsciously.

Besides, whether they do or don’t publish on a specific Godol, doesn’t indicate the greatness of that Godol.

No, it most certainly is not a Torah concept. It comes from western liberalism.

According to the Torah, Kol Yisroel Areivim Zeh L’Zeh. We have to mind each others spiritual (and material) business. And we are required to give Tochacha when someone does something wrong. That is the Halacha in the Torah.
