ChoirmistressParticipant
To both MorahMom and Geordie613:
Do you (or does anyone else on here) have the full lyrics to the French part of Children of Silence? I have the CD but am hearing words completely different from or in addition to the hard-to-find French lyrics. I do know some French (I’m Canadian, d’uh), but the end of the French part of the song totally eludes me. I’ve got from “Un soir d’ete” until “Rejoindre en chanson”, but that’s it.
Any help out there? I’m trying to complete my MSWord file to post it on imamother.com.
Thanks in advance for any and all info.
Choirmistress.ChoirmistressParticipantHere it is. Enjoy and share.
RADIANT SHABBOS
The head spins with sorrows
From yesterday to tomorrow;
The children grow so fast —
When could they reach that shelf?!
Years are escaping us;
Life’s busy shaping us;
Never a moment to think of oneself.
But happy is he
Who keeps Shabbos with glee,
Given from Heaven to us Jews alone.
Established to spare
Us from all mundane care,
Bestowing a radiance
That only we have known.
The sun is now setting;
For Shabbos we’re heading;
The table is set with
The challahs and wine.
Delight fills each heart;
Souls feel a fresh start;
The candles are glowing;
On the whole world they shine.
But happy is he…
The Next World’s fine taste
Is felt in Shabbos’ grace,
Along with the angels
At their Heavenly feast.
We sing all as one;
The tastes are like Man;
The foods and the drinks
Are all fresh-smelling treats.
But happy is he….
(L’ilui nishmos horai hayekarim Yoel ben Yehudah Aryeh v’Sima bas Yitzchok Eizik a”h.)

ChoirmistressParticipantThankyouthankyouthankyou!! Yasher ko’ach to you for your efforts and the time you spent.
NOW I can go ahead and finish my translation!
The reason I didn’t check back sooner for a response was that my posting history had enough items in it that the YWN posts were hidden beyond the bottom of my screen’s worth of items.
But I did see it about ten minutes ago, when I deleted a few unnecessary/expired email items, so now I can say:
THANK YOU AGAIN!! And yes, I do intend to post my English version once I have it completed. Actually, both here and on another frum website.
