BSD: a hobbit is from hobbiton 🙂
chocandpatienceMemberseems to me there are more than a few people posting. There are a handful of regular posters, so it may give that impression.
Also there are past posters, seldom posters, non-posters and double-account posters.
chocandpatienceMemberadorable: you’re being had
I’d assume there are more than 5872 accounts here.
chocandpatienceMemberHere in Israel they do append ‘fish’ to tuna, salmon and most other fish. After living here a while, one’s English does get affected.
chocandpatienceMemberbest way to get Squeak to show up is to call him she
chocandpatienceMembermod-80: There may be mods in EY, but they apparently sleep all morning
chocandpatienceMemberNo boats.
There is an albatross flying overhead.
chocandpatienceMember>And of course the classic: “ani lo tachas omed”
That took me a LONG time to work out
chocandpatienceMemberI would continue.
If you enjoy the CR (which obviously you do, or you wouldn’t consider continuing) then I wouldn’t let an unpleasant experience affect that.
You always have something helpful or pleasant to add here, it would be shame if you left.
chocandpatienceMember“Can some of the introverts here please describe how you are introverted (and if it bothers you)? “
I like peace and quiet, and have no problem being alone.
I listen more than I talk, (which is a *big* advantage – you learn a lot just by listening).
I don’t gush warmth, though I am a warm person. That is sometimes a problem as my naturally restrained “that’s nice” may be taken for indifference.
chocandpatienceMemberThe sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky:
No birds were flying overhead–
There were no birds to fly.
chocandpatienceMemberI’m content with being an introvert, but sometimes I wish I could have the ‘chattiness’ of an extrovert when meeting new people.
chocandpatienceMembermy Israeli cousins writing to their grandparents in England, using a dictionary:
To Grandmother and Grandfather the expensive
chocandpatienceMemberdon’t get his goat or he might give you the boot
chocandpatienceMembercan you make out its name?
EDITED:
just saw you don’t have binoculars
chocandpatienceMemberI don’t think my comments are affected by my name.
I do think that my view of others may be affected by their name.
chocandpatienceMemberbinah: it really has nothing to do with it. Just that one of the radio series closed with that song
chocandpatienceMemberI’m not sure a full discussion of this is wise in a public forum.
chocandpatienceMembersaw this one once, probably in the Hamodia:
a tourist was leaving Israel after a few weeks holiday.
She wanted to show off her newly learned Hebrew and thanked the taxi driver for taking her to the ‘tut soh-de’.
chocandpatienceMemberDY: <Groan>
Humanity is divided into the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.
Those who have read the Guide and those who have not.
chocandpatienceMemberHe’s been a member for a few years but this is his first post.
Strange.
chocandpatienceMemberthey probably have quota of closed threads per day to reach 🙂
chocandpatienceMembersac:
so what does a non-sweet carb do to my teeth? Nothing?
(assuming it doesn’t get stuck between the teeth, the mouth self cleans after a while)
chocandpatienceMembers2021: Wholly?
chocandpatienceMemberSacrilege: In school they told us that saliva starts the digestion process and starches begin to be turned into sugar in the mouth. Bacteria turns that sugar into acid if left on teeth long enough.
chocandpatienceMemberICOT – thanks for your points.
Aries – you are right about improper teeth cleaning. The dentist said that until the age of 8, children lack the coordination for proper teeth cleaning and need supervision. That was probably the reason for the original set of holes. Now, I make sure they thoroughly brush their teeth and I supervise. As for soda – i don’t give sweet drinks during the week.
Tomim – Thanks. That’s what I wanted to know. I’m going to look into calcium/D.
chocandpatienceMemberI’ve noticed an interesting thing:
Newborn babys’ nostrils are rigid for the first 6 weeks or so, and then they soften up. I assume this is to ensure the airway remains open, even if they press their face against something.
A few weeks later, once they can move their heads, they no longer need this.
Ma Rabu Masecha Hashem!
chocandpatienceMemberI got it!
Of course!
(2) is a seesaw!
dunno what a visionary name is, though.
chocandpatienceMemberIs (1) wine?
chocandpatienceMemberAnother thing to consider is the base. Some are elegantly rounded, but tip easily. Others are straight and more sturdy.
If you have young children who might swing on it, then that is an important consideration. We have one with a rounded base and it wasn’t a good idea – we have to stop it falling over when the children play with it.
chocandpatienceMemberthanks to all for suggestions.
BSD – I have heard teeth chattering stories about those type of dentists. This isn’t the case, though. The holes are where my son told me beforehand his tooth was hurting him.
tomim – I was considering extra Vitamin D and/or Calcium.
Anyone seen that makes a difference?
I heard that eating a piece of hard fruit/veg cleans out teeth.
I was thinking of sending with a piece of carrot for him to eat each day after his meal.
chocandpatienceMemberWolf is right, as usual. Royalty does not ask to be excused or pardoned, nor beg anything.
chocandpatienceMemberUrsula. thanks.
(I posted my prev post before I saw your second one)
chocandpatienceMemberI’ve just said 11-15 ursula.
Can you take 16 – 20?
thanks
chocandpatienceMemberI’ll take 11 – 15
chocandpatienceMemberZachKessin. Read my entire post.
chocandpatienceMembercharliehall. I was assuming wanderingchana wasn’t the President. I would give him other advice.
chocandpatienceMemberthanks mom23 for your tips.
chocandpatienceMemberZK. There’s running water and electricity in England 🙂
We even have riots.
chocandpatienceMemberShould we worry about what will be 20, 30 years down the line?
Firstly, we don’t know what we should be worrying about. There are so many possible external variables that can affect the economic outcome. We cannot plan it, nor can we predict it. Even if we all worked 18 hours a day and stashed away money, is that a guarantee that there will be wealth for the next generation?
Secondly, we don’t need to worry – we’re being looked after. Remember, Hashem’s in charge and He’s running things according to His plan, not ours.
So we should be concentrating on behaving in a way that He wants us to behave. Yes, we should behave in a responsible manner, make responsible decisions and take into account our family’s future, but don’t worry about the next generation as a whole.
chocandpatienceMembergetzel1 and Imanonov have the best jokes
chocandpatienceMemberwanderingchana: doctors would probably give Lamisil. With its risks, it doesn’t seem worth it for what is really a cosmetic problem. It isn’t guaranteed either and the fungus may return when the drugs are stopped.
You’re right that many alternative treatment for nail fungus are expensive and ineffective. That’s why I suggest vinegar, which is cheap. At the worst, you’ve wasted a little time and a few pennies.
chocandpatienceMemberchocandpatienceMemberspiral: synthetic vinegar – acetic acid rather than wine vinegar, etc.
I do vaguely remember reading about the vaporub suggestion when I was researching it. Then, I decided to go for the vinegar treatment.
chocandpatienceMemberhatzlacha, mewho.
chocandpatienceMemberMewho – you aren’t in an easy situation. You seem like very considerate children.
About confronting her – care must be taken. Particularly as she is an elderly widow. Laying down rules may be appropriate as a young couple, but circumstances change with an elderly MIL.
I’d say ‘always runs’ method is the gentlest.
chocandpatienceMembermbachur: before you wire away your savings to Nigeria, check out snopes
chocandpatienceMemberThere is at least one mod here, since I saw a few posts on the first day Chol HaMoed, when it’s Yom Tov elsewhere. I haven’t seen their hand since.
chocandpatienceMemberAYC. Yes, i do that.
chocandpatienceMemberthe neighbours upstairs put out bread for the birds. Birds take to sitting permanently on their sill. We get the mess.
