I think the fathers listening to Reb Yaakov’s hadrocha are sending to seminaries like Hadar where they keep track of the girls 24/7. The father has a shliach.
chgoachdusMemberI have no problem with your wanting a stricter hashgacha, but I think characterizing Gush Etzion winery as just rabbanut is misleading. They have a rabbanut mehadrin hashgocha and the OU. I just wanted to clarify that for others who might read the thread. Hatztlocha rabba!
chgoachdusMemberThere’s a really nice small winery in the Gush. Look up Gush Etzion winery. Their tour is delightful and products are fabulous.
chgoachdusMemberdress barn, orvis (check for sales), sometimes lands end. All can be done online and returned if necessary.
chgoachdusMemberThe truth is that many people work because they don’t want to be home with the kids. If you do the math, many (not all) jobs don’t even pay enough to cover the various things that are purchased because both parents are working. To be honest add up ALL the expenses … childcare, cleaning help, yard work, nicer wardrobe, 2nd car, snow removal, convenience foods/meals … that can be done or avoided by a stay-at-home parent. It takes a nice paycheck to justify working economically AND that’s even without considering the effect on kids, which should be the first consideration.
chgoachdusMemberInviting people for a shabbos meal who will (likely) drive to your house.
Giving food to someone who won’t make a brocha on it.
How to handle situation of non-Jews who think they are Jewish.
chgoachdusMemberThe advertising posters and publicity ahead of time should have been in yiddish if the event was going to be in yiddish. Then we all would have known who it was for and what internet experience was expected of the attendees both before and after the event. All the talk of unity and a broad spectrum of American frum was misleading.
chgoachdusMemberIn the Midbar there were no clothes to mend (or make) and meals were pretty easy with the mun … of course children needed tending, but wasn’t the rest of women’s time spent learning?

They had exhausted all infertility routes. Many people were davening for them of course, and they were kvater at several brissim also.
As with everything, we need to do enough so that Hashem’s hand can be somewhat hidden … what was effective … could be any of several things.
chgoachdusMemberI”m on a low dose statin for high cholesterol which I controlled for a few years with diet and exercise. I still do the diet and exercise , but time and genes caught up with me. The med is no big deal … I’m not on any others. I just can’t eat grapefruit with it. Otherwise I don’t even notice and I get a cholesterol score lower than I ever saw before. While I think we all should take medicine as a last resort, this is an easy one if one needs it.
