I’m not sure how modern he is , he looks liek a regular litvach to me but who knows.
in the future pay more attention to music being played, it happens more than ppl realize, especially if they leave the radio on.
not always is it playing over a speaker system, but if it’s behind the counter, i don’t want to hear it when i pay. or even in a restaurant the workers will have it on, then make sure it’s not loud enough for others to hear it.
chesednameParticipantapushatayid
your ranting makes very little sense.
I’ll try to break it down for you, if you read from the beginning it should help.
In any case, i wrote i was in a store (so stop assuming it was a women’s clothing store) i heard goish music in the 3 weeks with a woman singer.
yitayningwut wrote they have poskim to rely on, i asked which ones? but i didn’t want someone to say rabbi cohen, who maybe says (I’ll check later) that one or two poskim say you could listen to music during the 3 weeks, because that would only address 1 out of 3 issues.
There are 3 separate issues so i broke it down.
I hope you see how asking if it was classical music, or a women’s store etc.. doesn’t make much sense
chesednameParticipantapushatayid
1) i wrote earlier (my first post) it was a woman singer, so i think that takes out Beethoven and Mozart
2) why should kol isha be any different? it is different. besides like i said before what you do at home is one thing, doing something onto others is a different story.
3) if “most” poskim assur something, a public forum, such as a store shouldn’t be doing it based on one or 2 poskim that say you could.
4) as Kasha stated this isn’t a question of should i walk out or stay, it’s a question of why is it on?
lets see what yitayningwut has to say as far as which rabbonim give the heter he says is out there
chesednameParticipantKasha
THANK YOU!!
I’m not sure if ppl are not reading the posts, or twist things to show they were right, or what it is.
Many times their point doesn’t address the person their responding too.
chesednameParticipantCan you name one rav that says it’s mutar to listen to each of the following
1) goish music?
2) a woman singer?
3) music during the 3 weeks?
4) and even if it’s ok at home, that it’s also mutar to play it in a public place, like a store?
i look forward to your response.
chesednameParticipantif it has a browser it would require a monthly fee, and being it would have access to the Internet i don’t think you would be able to lend it to your kids.
the best is the apple ipod!
chesednameParticipantsomething you enjoy doing.
ps a mommy is not a profession, as they’re priceless!!!
chesednameParticipantyitayningwut
based on that logic, we shouldn’t have any standards for yeshivas, stores, shuls, etc..
if you don’t like that fact a yeshiva hires an atheist for a teacher don’t go there? never mind that’s it’s not so simple to pull a sixth, seventh or eighth grader out in the middle of the year.
or if a local store hires woman with no dress code, just don’t go there, drive 30 minutes extra to buy milk.
and if you rav decides to be mechalel shabbos, you wouldn’t say anything just go to a new shul, right??
chesednameParticipantyitayningwut
please re-read my post.
what you do at home is your problem, it’s NEVER OK for a heimish store to play this garbage, especially during the 3 weeks!!!
chesednameParticipantoomis1105
typical woman, doesn’t listen, lol (joking)
anyway the answer can’t be dividing it in to 6, 12, 18, 24 etc..
chesednameParticipantit’s playing because we as a nation are weak and have no back bone.
i went to a “frum” store yesterday, there was a female goy singing from a cd or the radio.
1) it’s the 3 weeks
2) it’s goyish music, which has no place in a frum store
3) it was a woman singer (even if she was a jewish singer, shouldn’t be played out loud in a jewish store)
why am i the only one bothered by this? why isn’t there ppl stopping to patronize this store? have we fallen so low that all is acceptable???
chesednameParticipantramateshkolian
that’s not exactly what i said.
if the agudah or some other organization, or gvir runs a camp at cost price, they’re not collecting or giving tzedaka, they’re just not charging more than it cost, and it’s not a business for them.
and I’m not saying they should do it so we can put mothers to work, but the reality is mothers are working, so if they can’t send to camp, whose supposed to watch them over the summer? if my employees want 2 months off to watch their kids, they’ll be spending a lot more than 2 months at home.
chesednameParticipantthey didn’t have apples.
applesauce is not correct
chesednameParticipantit’s not even a peer pressure thing anymore, if everyone is in camp, and levi decides not to send his kids to camp, what should they do? there aren’t any friends around to play with?
also with some many families where the mother works, whose watching these kids if they’re not in camp?
the only solution is a rich guy, or the agudah, etc. opens a camp at cost price
chesednameParticipanthow is it possible to divide 7 apples between 12 kids, in a way that each kid will receive an equal portion of apple, without dividing the apples into 6 or any number that is divisible by 6?

i was going to actually start a thread on the subject, but couldn’t be bothered to do so.
there is a thin, very thin line sometimes what should be approved and what shouldn’t be approved.
but there is no questions we need moderators, or before you know it all the post would be short, and contain repetitive 4 letter words 🙂
Please carry on the discussion here if you would like
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/mods-mods/page/12 not here
chesednameParticipantmods
i appreciate you doing your job, but when you’re WRONG own up to it, you should/could have re posted my post.
there is and was nothing wrong with it, no lashon hara and no foul languages, no mocking others etc…
Every poster thinks the moderator is wrong when their own post is deleted.
Now, which of your two posts do you think should be reposted. The one where you compared another poster to an apikoris and a liar, or the one where you criticized the moderation here. That is a rhetorical question. Neither will be undeleted.
The discussion ends here. If you wish any further of your posts to go through, I repeat, stick to the subject and not your opinion of the moderation here.
chesednameParticipantDeleted.
No one likes to be disrespected for doing their jobs, including moderators. If you would like your posts to go through, please stick to the subject

Apologies to Wolf, this slipped past me
chesednameParticipantWolfishMusings
coping or not, is your prerogative.
but you shouldn’t say “maybe, maybe not” if you’re not sure what the poskim say on the matter. because then it looks like there is a debate too it, when there isn’t.
chesednameParticipantlaguy and blinky
do you really think there is a connection there, didn’t think of it 🙂
chesednameParticipantmods
why does it take more than 15 minutes at times to see our post?
chesednameParticipantWolfishMusings
“Maybe, maybe not.”
why maybe not? it sounded good while typing? everyone agrees if a sefer is out of print you can copy it. do you know someone that doesn’t agree to that? if not you’re maybe not’s could confuse ppl trying to know what they can and can’t do.
chesednameParticipantsome shnaps or wine left over from shabbos!
works all the time.
a better question is how do i get their grades up? they seem to be out of it in class? any suggestions?
chesednameParticipantcoping a sefer that’s out of print is fine, all poskim agree to that.
as far as a library, you can lend what you want to who you want.
the truth is making a copy of a cd, is not 100% asur, but in reality you’re hurting yourself, because if the singers keep losing money, they’ll stop making the cd’s.

chesednameParticipantdoes anyone else find it ironic, that there are 107 posts, to a thread called 5 (five) most important Shidduch Questions?
not what do you think is the most important Shidduch Questions? but here are the 5, i got a kick out of it.

maybe all my hours here, (b”h not that many) wasn’t a waste of time.
well written.
thanks
chesednameParticipanthere is the best advice you’ll get.
postpone the test, and take more lessons.
just from the few posts you have here, i gathered you have no idea how to switch lanes, and not sure about stopping and turning.
hmmm that’s almost everything there is to know about driving.
chesednameParticipantyes, it’s ganavei.
the fact that you weren’t going to buy it is not a heter.
best way is to buy what you want online, or take the Cd’s you have and use your computer.

if you’re as good as you think, do sales!!
chesednameParticipantGovernment spokesman Magdy Rady said the amount was “limited,” but he did not say how much. He said the spill was detected last week and has now been largely contained, according to comments carried by the official Middle East News Agency.
Oil company officials in the port city of Suez said the spill was caused by a leak from an offshore oil platform in Jebel al-Zayt north of Hurghada and has polluted about 100 miles (160 kilometers) of coastline including tourist beach resorts. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

we refrain from signing with 2 s’s.
does anyone know if the judge gave her ruling today?
chesednameParticipantWellInformedYid
i don’t know about the others, but no I’m not happy about it, I’m so depressed (mostly because i didn’t short BP)
but it doesn’t change the fact this should be a current discussion among all yiddin, how the gemaras words are here.
chesednameParticipantmod-80
rashi isn’t talking about the whole world, just a part of the world.
if the oil continues, which it will, there will be no marine life left.
PS rashi actually says the fishing lines will come back empty, you can still technically try 100 times and catch one fish, and still be called coming back empty if normally it takes 2-3 times to catch something.
chesednameParticipantone lesson that no one is talking about.
the sentencing guidelines in America make no sense!!
From what i read she’s a tough judge, which might mean no anti semitism, just a very broken system.
chesednameParticipantpopa_bar_abba
it’s not nonsense, rashi says the waters will be filled with oil, so far that’s happening
he also says it will kill marine life, also happening, they’re not all dead yet, but give it some time. as of now bp has no real plan to stop the leaking!
chesednameParticipantthe Chafetz Chaim who writes that many of our tzaros such as sicknesses and the premature death of young children chas vashalom are caused by the compromising of our strict standards in modesty
where does the chofetz chaim say that?
chesednameParticipantto wolf and esteemed mod (licking up so you let my posts go through 🙂 )
i have a sefer that lists every combination of letters and the appropriate pasuk, it said for those 2 letters no pasuk found (i added the sorry)
i also have a sefer with every pasuk in tanach listed in alphabetical order, so in essence i can go through the whole tanach very quickly. so it’s easy to look up, i didn’t use a computer program.
chesednameParticipantif first letter is nun and last is ayin
there is no posuk in tanach, sorry
chesednameParticipantif the kid does it in public, he needs attention, i would speak some extra time with him and give him some confidence and compliments. he sounds very insecure.
if he does it privately, he doesn’t like u, work on being a better counselor, no reason a child shouldn’t like his counselor.
chesednameParticipantdunno
I suggested you shop around, the moderator actually recommended a company, and bp totty said it’s only around 20.00 difference between once co and another. what are you looking for? a leasing company that steals car, and leases it far cheaper than every one else? or will give it to you for free?
chesednameParticipantsmartcookie
i heard about that song, i was never able to find it do you know where I or Dovv can get the cd/tape/download?
thanks
chesednameParticipantpopa_bar_abba
What’s not honest about it?
If you felt that every yid was really your brother and sister, you would see how honest it IS.
Something to do over the summer.
