observtn-I hope thats not the case here!!Well this girl is abt 19 and just came out of sem-I hope she wasnt forced into marrige.(her parent are not the type but you never know….)
ChayalaMemberNot inviting them is not an option!rebbi-thats exact. our prob!!how should we explain it to them..esp. since in the place were its being you can see it all up close
ChayalaMembergood luck!!!I remember those days….it was a long time ago:)
ChayalaMembersmartcookie I waited till the next morning but I read in the cr(on a diff. thread) that doing that is assur!I dont think thats true but I want to hear what the cr has to say.
ChayalaMemberEzratHashem-well said.
ChayalaMemberHaleivi-ofcourse a potch has what to do with hurting! If your 2yr old son runs into the road and you just tap him he will not get that he did anything wrong-a potch means a potch.
ChayalaMemberPotching when done at the correct time is part of chinuch. Many people today are against it-but at times its just got to be done(when you have no more options left).
ChayalaMemberPac-man:the car will not make a big commotion. Btw 600kil-you are correct so many people are yentas! I can tot. see a person moser on another for potching their kid!!-what a crazy world we live in:)
ChayalaMemberhelpful-The SA and many rabbanim allow potching-but not the law.
ChayalaMemberblinky-I couldnt agree more!
ChayalaMembermod 80-you’re correct, it does depend on that:-)
ChayalaMemberI think that when a rebbi potches(wich is done in front of a full class)makes the kid feel real bad! unless the kid has done somthing crazy I dont think the rebbi should potch.helpful- rebbeim dont love the kids these days like their parents do.(and the kids know it)
ChayalaMemberWhat do you say about grandparents potching their aineklach??
ChayalaMemberI think a parent can potch when needed but a rebbi doesnt do it out of 100% love. These days there are still MANY rebbeim that do potch.I think a kid wouldnt forgive his rebbe for a potch but will thank his parents.
ChayalaMemberThere is a well known story: there was a small boy who refused to go off one of those rides(that you pay .25 for) everyone came to get him off but nothing worked-an old man passed by and asked what was going on, they told him and he said I will get him off,the mother said I dont want you to touch my kid-so he said I o.k im not going to.-the old man said somthing into the boys ear and the boy jumped off! when they asked the old man what he told the boy, he said I told him that if you dont get off ill give you a good potch:-)
ChayalaMemberSJS-what do you say to the fact that shlomo hamelech said “chosaych shivto sonai binow”
ChayalaMemberI was walking on a street in lakewood when I saw two small boys run into the street-one father took his son and gave him a good potch while the other just ignored it-when it came to the next street the boy who got the potch waited for his father while the other ran into the gutter again.
