Can’t believe there’s this discussion going on – do you realise this is a public place – how do you think Mr Sassoon (the father of the Sasoon family) would feel if he came on here and read these posts???? Such arguing about their tragedy – such a discussion should be in private – this is the Sasoon’s personal tragedy and everyone’s working on themselves is personal too – for you it may be vital to recognise the value of your health and practise venishmartem meod…well guess what, for me who suffers from anxiety to go and focus on this mitzva would just be working up my anxiety!!!and not working on changing real things in my nature. So yeah everyone’s growth is very personal – STOP SMASHING EVERYONE ELSE! Everyone knows deep down what they really need to work on… Quit the bickering – it’s so horrible.. 🙁

She has a 22yr old son boy who is very intelligent, – all their family are very very smart!! He is a real go getter and very very bright – I really wanted him for my sister (who is now married b”H) but guess what, he works behind a cash register now and he is so happy – doesn’t show anything about intelligence at all – in this case he happens to be a very brilliant people person and however bright he is he couldn’t sit in yeshiva any longer – he does way better now – as goq wrote – being a cashier and offering great customer service – that’s a very skilled job! keeping customers happy can be almost impossible in today’s age when ‘the customer is always right’ (I know this from my online-sales work I do – pure nightmare some buyers). Additionally running/leading your own firm/business is really not as fun as it sounds prestigious – you end up having to be married to your job if you want it to all run smoothly and be successful (I say this from my experience in opening up my own business over the last year – nightmare number 2) so if he’ll have a 9-5 job you’ll be one lucky woman – not having to share your husband’s emotional kochos with his job. As my sister always says – ‘everything’s a package deal’ so look for the good in the package you have and no he is not unintelligent because of his behind-the-counter-job. Meet him if everything else sounds fine and you’ll see if he seems right or not. And always ASK DAAS TORAH – these random opinions from random people are just that – RANDOM. Hatzlacha.
chavi123Participantlook like it has so far
chavi123Participantblock your news sites – my filter has an option to block all new/media sites. if you must read some news, you could block it for most of the day and just have access to it 15-30 mins a day or whatever you decide.. We actually set our filter (k9) to disallow web access from 10pm everynite – its’ great as I can’t waste too much time becsasue I know I have work to complete before the net ‘closes’ so I csn not waste time reading etc… good luck
chavi123Participantaccording to my Rabbanim and Daas Torah, of course you can ask your questions – it IS a VERY SHOCKING STORY and does momentarily startle our regular faith in Hashem – and in yiddishkeit we are never scared of questions. But best would be to go ask your rav or a talmid chochom for the best answer – you could discuss it with him properly, have back and forth questions and answers and understand this topic as well as we can.
Such a shocking tragedy – we (my husband and I) used to live around the corner on Rechov HaKablan – if you’re familiar with Shchunat Har Nof, it is an upper-class, suburban, peaceful neighborhood on the outskirts of Yerushalayim. That a massacre/pogrom of this sort should happen here is a tremendous shock.
But there was one thing that comforted me – when I heard the nissim of the few who were not in shul that day for various reasons.
My son’s principle told the boys that his elderly father-in-law always davens in that shul and his seat is at the back where all the kedoshim were but on Tuesday morning his taxi didn’t come and he couldn’t walk all the way so he davened at home.
When I heard this I thanked Hashem for letting me hear this story as this comforted me because ‘in the same way that some people were not there that morning and we don’t understand why, so too some people were yes there – even if we can’t know WHY.
There is a plan even though we can’t understand it right now. We’re looking at the back of the tapestry so we just see the knots and the random threads crossing over each other. We’re like the fly that lands on a very valuable painting but just sees the one dark patch he landed on and so he can’t understand why all the people are marvelling at the exquisite work of art. Us too – one day when we see the whole picture we’ll understand – and it’ll all be so clear we’ll understand just like that – no explanations.
This should be the last bad news we ever hear. The next news we hear should be the sound of the shofar and Mashiach’s arrival. Omein.
Thank you everyone for all the hashkafa you wrote in these posts.
chavi123ParticipantOk Ivory, that sounds right! then I guess I’m not going to be reading all these random people and their random opinions.. But it is so painful – such a huge tragedy and such a massive story and little people giving their opinions? are they not embarrassed? Do they really think they are so important that they can understand how to view these huge issues????? so sad 🙁
chavi123ParticipantAren’t we all forgetting something most important here – ANYONE who wants to do good work for the klal/protest or defend the Torah, the only way to go about doing is to ASK DAAS TORAH. I love the way everyone has opinions here about NK – they have to ask Daas Torah and do as the Torah says! all this bloggin andf opinions by ppl who prob have no semicha and have just gone through sem and yeshiva – you think you’re qualified to decide weighty Torah/Hashkafa matters??? really, now…
