He says that metal detectors are not effective. As far as I know metal detectors beep when you walk through with weapons. It seems to me to be a good way of stopping people with weapons.

Leibik yankel where did you hear that computers at home are okay? In the article it says that the Rabbonim want to distance the Talmidim from technology so they banned technology from the Yeshiva where the Talmidim are. That does not imply that when the Talmidim go home once a month or so they should have computers.
