“More like a FDR or JFK type of democrat.”

I will accept that. Both had 90%+ top marginal tax rates. (So did Eisenhower.) Both were free traders. (So was Eisenhower.) And it should be noted that when those three were President, there were no restrictions on immigration from any Western Hemisphere country so they had enforced an “open borders” policy for this half of the world.

I can not be an Eisenhower Republican because of what he and John Foster Dulles tried to do to Israel. 🙁

He has been making an awful lot of great appointments to important positions for someone who isn’t supposed to know what is going on. Of course anti-Semites and misogynists aren’t happy with him.

“the GOP doesn’t like universal healthcare”

They used to. Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Bob Dole all supported it. And conservative icons Freidrich Hayek and Milton Friedman did, too. But now conservativism means leaving people to die if they have chronic medical conditions. It didn’t used to be like that.

“What would happen if your Rov paskened that an abortion is required (due to a mother’s life being in danger) and the government says no?”

That is happening NOW in El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Malta. Now in Malta a woman can simply take a ferry to Italy, but women are dying because ALL abortions are banned in those countries.

Not just today’s Da’as Torah but the Torah itself, the Naviim, Chazal, Gaonim, Rishonim, and Acharonim.

Judiasm is not about rights at all it is about obligations. And we are required to protect ourselves and not to endanger others. “Liberty” in Judaism means the freedom to fulfill these obligations, not the freedom to do whatever we please no matter what the consequences to others.

When religious people support a rasha like Trump they expose themselves as hypocrites. No Trump supporting religious person, Jew or Christian will ever be have any credibility when they complain about licentiousness or corruption in society.

Three Republican appointed appeals judges just shot down the lastest Trump appeal.

This has nothing to do with the media. This has to do with the fact that Trump has no case and he has incompetent lawyers.

“There is no way you can possibly know this. Do you know everything that was done to ensure the process was done “to the highest standards of safety and efficacy?””

You can go to clinicaltrials dot gov and read the study designs. I do that a lot. I also read and write detailed protocols for a living; I happen to have two COVID-19 protocols on my computer right now.

Every clinical trial has a Data Safety Monitoring Committee that monitors the study progress, and every clinical trial is approved by an Institutional Review Board that approves the protocol and any modifications. I am a member of two Institutional Review Boards at my institution and I have been on the Data Safety Monitoring Committees for numerous studies. I have at times forced the termination of studies when it was clear that it was not possible for the studies to show that the investigational treatment would be successful. This system basically works.

My wife is a family physician who treats a lot of immigrants. She has never had an immigrant family even question a vaccine much less refuse one. Many have received vaccines in their home countries that Americans don’t get such as the tuberculosis vaccine. Only Americans and Israelis seem to be so stupid as to question one of the two greatest public health successes of modern times. (The other is clean water.)

“smallpox has a mortality rate of 30%, and the rest were disfigured for life. Comparing smallpox to COVID with a 99.5% recovery rate is disingenuous.”

COVID does not have a 99.5% recovery rate. I just looked up the states, it is actually a 97.9% survival rate, with many who survive suffering disabilities that will trouble them for the rest of their lives. At that rate we are talking about seven million dead Americans if everyone listens to the anti-vaxxers.

Smallpox in Boston killed 0.0005% of the population of Boston during the epidemic that led to the Court decision. So COVID is over forty times as deadly. Kal v’chomer.

Trying to overturn a free and fair election is not conservative, or at least it didn’t used to be. And that is what Trump’s goons are trying to do. They are now attacking the very basis of American democracy and you seem to be okay with that. You might be more comfortable in an absolute monarchy like Bahrain or UAE.

“there is evidence of election fraud”

There is the following evidence of election fraud:

    1) Two Trump voters in Pennsylvania got caught trying to cast a second vote in the name of a dead person.

    2) A guy in California got caught committing absentee ballot fraud in California in an attempt to steal a local election. A few thousand fraudulent absentee ballot applications in a state Biden won by five million votes, and there were no illegal votes in this case, either, because the guy got caught. I have not been able to determine whether the perpetrator is a Republican or a Democrat as all local elections in California are nonpartisan.

    3) The US Postal service failed to deliver 1/3 of the mail in ballots in Philadelphia and 1/5 of the mail in ballots in Detroit. Then Trump’s goons went to court to prevent these legal ballots from being counted if they arrived late. This cost Biden a lot of votes but he won anyway. The source here is the “liberal” Trump propaganda rag called the New York Post.

Giuliani admitted in open court that there was no fraud. So there is nothing for YWN to report on.

“all they have come up with are a few affidavits that when you examine them ”

Basically, we have two incidents in Pennsylvania where Trump supporters tried and failed to cast a second ballot illegally in someone else’s name, a nutjob in California who tried and failed to steal a local election with a few thousand illegal absentee ballots in a state Biden won by five million votes, and the US Postal Service costing Biden about a hundred thousand votes in both Detroit and Philadelphia by losing mail in ballots, ballots that have not been found or counted. The victim of the fraud is Biden but he is moving on.

Rather than speculate, look at the polls from Real Clear Politics vs. the actual vote counts.

Final RCP Average in PA: Biden +1.2. Actual election result: Biden +1.2.
MI: Polls Biden +4.2 Actual Biden +2.8.
GA: Polls Trump +1.0 Actual Biden +0.3.
NC: Polls Trump +0.2 Actual Trump +1.3.
AZ: Polls Biden +0.9 Actual Biden +0.3.
WI: Polls Biden +6.7 Actual Biden +0.7.
NV: Polls Biden +2.3 Actual Biden +2.7.

So the only state among the close ones that was really off was Wisconsin. Which had a similar discrepancy four years ago.

The pro-Israel people I talk to have been pleasantly surprised; Israel was not an issue in this race and they feared that he would be another AOC. Apparently gay progressives are on our side (Jones, Torres) while straight progressives are on the wrong side (Bowman, AOC).

It doesn’t matter. Even if the SC reverses everything, it is Congress that eventually decides which Presidential electors whose votes get counted. And Trump has now pissed off enough Republican Senators that there is now a solid majority that says that Biden won, a majority that will increase by at least one more in about a week when Mark Kelly replaces Martha McSally. The latest was Pat Toomey, who seems personally offended by the fact that his mentee Judge Brann has been attacked for his decision.

No it isn’t, if you the scanners aren’t connected to the Internet. Besides, the hand recount of Georgia found zero discrepancies between the hand count and the computer count with the exception of two Republican counties where the elections officials had neglected to upload data from flash drives. In addition, if the scanners are designed to switch votes from R to D, how is it that every R congressman got re-elected in Michigan and Pennsylvania (and in fact everywhere in the US except for one seat in Georgia). Furthermore, it is Giuliani who has real Venezuela connections.

    “I would move to Canada”

My wife and I have discussed this. Trump overturning the election results would mean that the US no longer has a rule of law and it would no longer be safe here. My wife has a Mexican passport and I qualify for a Mexican residency permit if I we go there together; I have even checked out housing prices in Polanco, the largest Jewish neighborhood in the country. But the idiot leftist President of Mexico is botching the coronavirus pandemic even worse than Trump and Mexico is stuck with him for another four years. I think we can qualify for emigration for Canada but it isn’t easy for most folks to emigrate to Canada. My wife also qualifies for a UK passport but the UK government under Johnson hates immigrants and Johnson is also botching the coronavirus pandemic.

So aliyah might be the answer! Netanyahu may be a crook but he has 40 more IQ points than Trump and Israel is doing a lot better than the US is with the pandemic.

The hand count proves that there was no ballot counting fraud. The errors were by Republican elections officials who simply goofed. There was just a huge Democratic turnout and Georgia was the only state where a Republican congressional seat flipped to the Democrats other than the two North Carolina seats that were flipped because of a court ordered de-gerrymandering.

Trump could ask for a recount, and the state would cover the costs, but nothing would change. It would be a waste of Georgia taxpayer money.

Kudos to the elections officials in Georgia who have been working hard long hours to meet the certification deadline — both Republicans and Democrats.

This isn’t going to happen because the Trump campaign can’t find any fraud, or any significant errors. The election wasn’t that close.

The relevant question is what will be your reaction should the Supreme Court ignore all the lack of evidence and try to overturn the election. (The Constitution doesn’t give it that power.) Or should Congress ignore all the lack of evidence and try to overturn the election. (The Constitution does give it that power, and Republicans used it to steal the 1876 election.)

That is a real case of attempted fraud, albeit targeting a local nonpartisan election, not the Presidential election. But no votes ended up being cast because they were caught. It involved absentee ballot applications from people who were mentally incompetent and therefore not qualified to vote. But even had they managed to vote, the few thousand votes are roundoff error compared to Biden’s five million vote margin in California.

“Some places Stopped Counting for awhile & then lo & behold, when they started again it was mainly, if not all, Biden.”

No stop of counting. The reason for the late votes being mostly Biden was that Stupid Trump ordered his supporters not to vote by mail, and Stupid Trump supporters listened. That is a characteristic of a cult. In person votes often get reported first. The Georgia Secretary of State, a Trump supporting Republican, has stated that Trump telling his people not to vote by mail depressed Republican turnout and lost Trump the state. It is also likely that that forced a second US Senate runoff and helped Dems flip a seat in the US House of Representatives — their only flip of a Republican seat not caused by redistricting.
