“He is a career liar”
No, that is Trump.
” and the radical left enemies are breathing at the gates.”
Actually most of the radical left is actually trying to sabotage Biden’s campaign. Briahna Joy Gray, David Sirota, Nina Turner, Rashida Tlaib — none have endorsed Biden and the first two have been attacking Biden almost nonstop for months. Cornel West and Michael Moore are claiming to support Biden but you would never know it from the way they talk — they blast him (accurately) for not being interested in their radical agenda.
Meanwhile, David Duke endorsed Trump. Again. So has Gavin McInnes, the holocaust denying anti-Semite who founded Proud Boys.
charliehallParticipant“And I worry about the left wing of the Democratic Party more than I have had to in the past. ”
I am too. But I worry far more about Trump, for all the reasons you mention.
And I am worried about the future of Rabbinic Judaism. Like evangelical Christians, we are supporting massive, unprecedented immorality in the person of Trump. The rest of the world thinks we are hypocrites. And we are. 🙁
charliehallParticipant“If you know anything about the democrats, it’s them who you should be worried about.”
I invite you to view the “A Storm is Brewing in Rockland” video that the Rockland County Republican Party produced a year ago. Leni Riefenstahl would havre been proud. No local Democratic Party organization has ever produced anything remotely as anti-Semitic.
Or do you think that Jews in Rockland County deserve to be defamed with anti-Semitic slanders?
charliehallParticipant“the antisemites are overwhelmingly for Biden”
David Duke endorsed Trump in 2016 and again in 2020.
charliehallParticipant“In your Sick Utopia, you deny Facts!”
I have been posting facts. The TrumpJews are the deniers.
charliehallParticipant“charlie hall= stop babbling like an idiot!!!”
I see that the people who don’t like what I wrote are unable to offer any response other than namecalling and *ad hominem* attacks. Just like Trump.
So I am going to point out something else that will make the TrumpJews squirm even more. In 2016, Trump supported an actual neo-Nazi, Paul Nehlen, in his congressional primary against Paul Ryan. That’s right, an neo-Nazi was Trump’s preference against the most far right wing Speaker of the US House of Representatives in over a century.
The TrumpJews are supporting a supporter and enabler of anti-Semites and white supremacists.
charliehallParticipant“Trump may spout nonsense about many topics, but not about Jews”
So you think that Trump’s memes about dual loyalty and obsession with money aren’t nonsense?
Maybe YOU are the anti-Semite.
charliehallParticipant“Gavin McInnes is NOT an antisemite, and NOT a Holocaust denier. ”
As Quayboardwarrior points out, he is on video denying the Holocaust. He also blamed Jews for Stalin’s crimes against humanity. I would post a link except that the moderators would not allow it.
I am not the liar here.
charliehallParticipantI had never heard of Porat until just now. I found their web site and incredibly I know seven people who are on their masthead.
charliehallParticipant“Hong Kong was losing their independence before corona.”
Hong Kong was never independent. Before it was returned to China, it was ruled undemocratically by the UK for over 150 years.
China has never seen real democracy. Chiang Kai-Shek was basically a fascist who allied with the Nazis until the Nazis threw him under the bus. Prior to that, warlords ruled different parts of China undemocratically, and there was no democracy under the Emperors or under Japanese occupation.
And the Communists have been worse than all of these.
charliehallParticipantRemember that Trump’s father was a KKK member. Not all children of KKK members become racists and anti-Semites, but Trump did. Not sure where he got his licentiousness and willingness to be totally dishonest in every business activity. Also not sure when those kinds of prohibitions were removed from the Torah, as Trump’s allegedly frum supporters claim.
charliehallParticipant“literally lower the spiritual state of America”
There has never been a President whose actions are more the opposite of what the Torah teaches: Harding and Kennedy may compete with him for licentiousness, but there has never been a more financially corrupt man in the White House. He cheats in business in every way imaginable, lies about it, and uses his office to enrich himself. “gashmiast”? Trump is the ultimate! Everything is about enriching himself. And his policies have been all about that — a massive tax cut to enrich himself and his cronies, benefits to foreign governments that give his businesses favors and hostility towards those that don’t, and the use of government agencies to further his own interests above everything else.
It is hard to imagine how to get into a lower spiritual state than Donald Trump. He has actually said that he had never asked God for forgiveness for anything.
charliehallParticipant“Stand by” is a directive to be ready when he calls on you to commit violence for him. They have already done so without being so prompted. One was arrested TODAY in Portland on 12 charges including multiple felonies; they had gone to Portland to create violence that the Trump cult could blame on Antifa (which isn’t even an organization). In 2018, two had been convicted of rioting right here in NYC. Basically, Trump has now made Proud Boys his version of Mussolini’s Blackshirts. Do not think that they won’t eventually get around to attacking synagogues.
The founder of Proud Boys, Gavin McInnes, is an open holocaust denier. Yet a commenter here has the chutzpah to claim that he isn’t anti-Semitic? Trump himself repeatedly spouts nonsense about Jewish money and dual loyalty; Ilhan Omar spouts the same nonsense so Trump is in the same category as Omar yet Trump’s cult rages against Omar while defending their cult leader.
Jewish Trump supporters need to wake up. This is Italy in the 1920s. Except that Trump is far more supportive of anti-Semites than Mussolini was in the early fascist era. And the anti-Semites are for Trump. (Yeah, David Duke endorsed him again.)
charliehallParticipantFew voters attend BLM rallies. I never have and have no plans to.
Trump himself hosts rallies without masks or social distancing, but votes by mail. Trump is a hypocrite, as is the OP. Different rules for Trump as for the rest of us.
September 30, 2020 10:31 am at 10:31 am in reply to: Joe Biden seemed to be using some sort of earpiece during the debate #1905712charliehallParticipantNo, it is that the accusations of dementia against Biden are just slanderous lies. Nevertheless it would have made sense for Biden to have had an earpiece. (And it is not illegal.) No one person can keep up with Trump’s lying. Trump’s strategy is the same is that of Goebbels: Lie so often, and so outrageously, that it is impossible to keep up with them.
The real shame is that someone posting under the name “torahlife” falls for this.
September 30, 2020 10:31 am at 10:31 am in reply to: Jews should be voting for Ohev Yisrael #1905710charliehallParticipantLast night Trump issued directives to his violent Proud Boy supporters.
Here is what the founder of Proud Boys said about the Holocaust:
“I felt myself defending the super far-right Nazis just because I was sick of so much brainwashing and I felt like going, ‘Well, they never said it didn’t happen. What they’re saying is it was much less than six million and that they starved to death and weren’t gassed, that they didn’t have supplies”
And he blamed Jews for Stalin’s crimes against humanity:
“I think it was 10 million Ukrainians who were killed. That was by Jews. That was by Marxist, Stalinist, left-wing, commie, socialist Jews.”
Source is The Canadian Jewish News, March 17, 2017.
Oh, and a Proud Boy was the main organizer of the infamous Charlottesville rally whose neo-Nazi marchers shouted “Jews will not replace us”. Trump famously called them “very fine people”. The Proud Boys had to kick him out because he became too much of an embarrassment. Holocaust deniers have to maintain a facade of respectability. 🙁
No sane Jew could call someone who supports this an “Ohev Yisrael”. This is hate like we have not seen in generations. That any Jew supports Trump is a Chilul HaShem.
September 30, 2020 12:19 am at 12:19 am in reply to: NON CORONA TOPIC: Why would anyone voted Biden #1905626charliehallParticipant“Trump is comparable to Hitler ymsh.”
Just tonight, Trump refused to condemn white supremacists and told one such group to “stand by”. Previously he had endorsed a neo-Nazi in a congressional primary.
“the values with which I was raised dictate that I hold other beliefs”
The values that any Jew holds dictate that Trump is wrong and must be stopped. Unless the Jew has turned his back on Jewish values.
September 30, 2020 12:11 am at 12:11 am in reply to: Which 5 countries will make peace with Israel #1905615charliehallParticipantTunisia is actually a democracy today. The largest party is a moderate Islamist party, but without a parliamentary majority. They just got a new Head of Government earlier this month, and it has a weak coalition government that probably can’t make any big moves.
September 30, 2020 12:11 am at 12:11 am in reply to: Jews should be voting for Ohev Yisrael #1905616charliehallParticipantJust tonight, Trump refused to condemn white supremacists. In the past, Trump endorsed a neo-Nazi in a congressional primary and he still spouts anti-Semtic memes.
This is worse than Italian Jews supporting Mussolini. Mussolini did not support anti-Semtism in the early years of fascist rule. Trump has let us all know quite clearly that he supports those who hate us and will do us in if they have the chance.
charliehallParticipantAs others have posted, Tikun HaOlam comes from Chazal. If the Reform folks were to learn gemara they might realize that it is a far more radical thing than they make it out to be — making halachic changes for the good of the world. But they don’t believe in halachah so I guess there isn’t much point in them learning gemara. 🙁
charliehallParticipantHerman Wouk’s non-fiction books on Judaism are some of the best by anyone. And he wasn’t even a rabbi.
Many of his novels also should be a must read for any educated Jew.
charliehallParticipantI am not a De Blasio fan. But in fact no mayor ever has kowtowed as much to orthodox leadership. Now that we are ungratefully stabbing him in the back, we will never have another mayor who gives us as much heed:
He let metzitzah be peh continue.
He scuttled attempts to reform yeshiva education.
He allowed big funerals in the middle of the lockdown. This is anti-Semitic?
By our words and actions we send the message that it doesn’t matter what you do for us. Just wait until Jumaane Williams is mayor. You will be sadly wishing for a return to the days of De Blasio.
charliehallParticipant“they are guilty of most of these aveiros”
That is of course a lie.
However, if you listened to the haftarah at Shacharit you would have seen why Trump is not someone any religious person can support.
charliehallParticipant“the two trains of thought among most Frum voters.”
The train of thought among supposedly frum Trump supporters is that neither personal sexual morality, nor ethics in business, are part of the Torah any more. Trump has gone out of his way to flaunt these deviancies and his supporters don’t care.
The word for people who pick and choose which parts of the Torah matter used to be “Reform”.
September 27, 2020 4:24 am at 4:24 am in reply to: Which 5 countries will make peace with Israel #1904968charliehallParticipantNevertheless the normalization of relations is still a good thing. The more countries that recognize Israel and its right to exist, the better.
September 27, 2020 4:23 am at 4:23 am in reply to: Which 5 countries will make peace with Israel #1904967charliehallParticipantAkuperma is right, but he forgot Lebanon and Iraq, both of which are still at war with Israel. The only thing that all parts of the Lebanese political spectrum agree upon is their hatred of Israel. And in this one case the hatred is justified. 🙁
Saudi Arabia also sent soldiers to fight in the Egyptian Army in 1948. It is an absolute monarchy.
Oman is a absolute monarchy, although relatively benign compared to UAE and Bahrain. Brunei is also an absolute monarchy. Sudan is trying to become democratic after generations of dictatorship; its government has only been in power for weeks.
Pakistan is now a democracy that has had three successful peaceful transitions of power, but it is not a free country and it is not clear who is really in charge. Jeffrey Goldberg and Marc Ambinder wrote a great article in the Atlantic in 2011 called, “The Ally From Hell” that describes things well — little has changed despite two changes of government since then.
charliehallParticipant“I see many cases of people behaving right also.”
Me, too. In my neighborhood most people are wearing masks. Shuls are maintaining social distancing and lots of us aren’t going to shul at all. One positive from this is that I learned to blow shofar. 🙂
charliehallParticipant“If Rabban Gamliel (possibly) had a telescope (Eruvin)”
That is in Yerushalmi Eruvin as well as Bavli Eruvin.
charliehallParticipant“The Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) is a lobbying group that advocates pro-Israel policies within the Democratic Party’s membership”
If you got a problem with that you have an agenda other than supporting Israel.
“Republican Jewish Coalition”
Republican Jewish Coalition supported Trump after Trump came and spouted anti-Semitic memes in front of them.
charliehallParticipant“And your understanding of the Catholic position is also wrong”
Which Catholic seminary did you attend?
In several countries the Catholic Church has gotten the government to ban ALL abortions under ALL circumstances, and to enforce such a ban: El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Malta. Now, in Malta, a woman who needs an abortion can get to Italy very quickly, but in the other two, women die. That is what much of the so-called pro-life movement wants for the United States.
charliehallParticipant“They believe that only a person who has been baptized can go to heaven.”
Wrong.
charliehallParticipant“Killing an unborn baby has exactly the same halachic status as killing a goy. In both cases a yid who does it is exempt from human justice”
Go ahead and murder a goy and see what happens to you. Don’t try to cite halachah before the judge; he won’t be pleased. Oh, and you won’t believe the anti-Semitism that results. It will be deserved.
“the nations are OBLIGATED to execute all goyishe abortionists”
And also all petty thieves.
September 27, 2020 4:09 am at 4:09 am in reply to: Why are massive protests okay, but davening in a minyan is not? #1904951charliehallParticipant“goyishe weddings”
An August wedding in Maine has resulted in the deaths of eight people. The minister who officiated discourages mask use.
September 27, 2020 4:08 am at 4:08 am in reply to: Why are massive protests okay, but davening in a minyan is not? #1904950charliehallParticipant“simple. they aren’t ok.”
Bingo. Like the Trump rallies. Not okay. He already has killed one of his prominent supporters, Herman Cain, and there will be more.
charliehallParticipantThanks for the shoutout! 🙂
Andy Kim, the incumbent in NJ CD 3, has been endorsed by DMFI PAC. All pro-Israel Jews in the district should vote for him.
charliehallParticipant“Do we have to vote to stop goyim from performing abortions or not?”
In fact, we probably have to NOT vote that way, because we need to have abortions available in the somewhat rare instances where they are halachically mandated for us.
It is a machloket whether we need to vote to force goyim to enact laws consistent with the Noachide commandments. The minhag seems to indicate that the answer is no.
charliehallParticipant“against the torah”
Of course it is. Another example is that Jews are among the most enthusiastic users of in vitro fertilization, and have fought to have it covered by insurance. But for Catholics, it is mass murder, because fertilized embryos are killed as part of the process. We need to fight laws that try to impose Christian doctrine on us.
charliehallParticipant“According to the gamara in sanhedrin, In a scenario that the unborn endangers the mothers life, a goy wouldn’t be allowed to kill the baby and yid would be allowed”
Wrong. That gemara says that there is nothing permitted to a Jew that is prohibited to a non-Jew. Only the Catholic Church says that the mother can’t abort the fetus; Judaism and Protestant Christians say it is okay.
You need to go back to the Beit Midrash.
charliehallParticipant“The gemara in Sanhedrin says they are chayiv misah for abortion.”
The same gemara says they are chayiv misah for petty theft. So by your logic, petty theft is murder.
charliehallParticipant“Killing Fetuses is included in Lo Tzrach.”
No it isn’t.
charliehallParticipant“have our President’s re-election in mind for a moment when davening”
Any Jew who prays for Trump’s re-election has rejected everything the Torah teaches.
“the usual tefillah after the haftorah for the leaders of our government”
Why? We were willing to bring Korbanot in the Beit HaMikdash for Caligula, who was even worse than Trump. (And Trump is really bad.) He needs our prayers.
charliehallParticipant“Zionism as in ideology, and as embodied by the State of Israel, is anti-Torah and (therefore) anti-Judaism.”
You just defamed thousands of Religious Zionist talmidei chachamim, including many who can legitimately be considered the gedolim of their generation, people such as Rav Reines z’tz’l, Rav Uziel z’tz’l, Rav Kook z’tz’l, Rav Herzog z’tz’l, Rav Soloveitchik z’tz’l, and Rav Waldenberg z’tz’l. Even Rav Ovadia Yosef z’tz’l identified as a Zionist. Rabbi Dr. Yosef Burg z’tz’l was the founder of the National Religious Party and was himself a tremendous talmid chacham, with semicha from Rabbi Dr. Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg at the Hildesheimer Rabbinical School.
You have until Sunday night to do tshuvah.
charliehallParticipant“She spouts Commy ideas”
Obviously your yeshiva education did not include a basic political science class. She is nothing like a communist.
I write that as someone who does not like her and contributed to her primary opponent. Her ideas are a lot like Trump’s — lacking reason and detail, but good at getting media attention from a cult.
charliehallParticipant“Why did Chuck Schumer give AOC the floor ”
Schumer is the Senate Minority Leader. He has no power to give AOC or any other non-Senator the floor of the Senate. That would be against Senate rules.
AOC as a member of the House of Representatives has the right to make one speech each day. Usually they are to an empty chamber.
So drop the conspiracy theories.
September 22, 2020 10:12 am at 10:12 am in reply to: Our Community Is Powerless: Here’s Why #1903472charliehallParticipant“New York saw a renaissance that was likely unparalleled in its entire history.”
There was an even bigger boom under Bloomberg and a still larger boom under De Blasio until the pandemic hit.
“The only exception might be in a New Hampshire-like scenario, where a GOP candidate for sheriff is a twisted lunatic. ”
Right now we have a twisted lunatic in the White House.
“Democrats are horrendous at governance”
Two hundred thousand dead Americans from a pandemic says that it is the Republicans who are horrendous.
September 22, 2020 10:11 am at 10:11 am in reply to: Our Community Is Powerless: Here’s Why #1903469charliehallParticipantEliot Engel’s district is now much more Westchester than Bronx. It includes the large Jewish populations in Riverdale (Bronx) and New Rochelle and Scarsdale (Westchester).
September 17, 2020 11:21 am at 11:21 am in reply to: Our Community Is Powerless: Here’s Why #1902622charliehallParticipant“Corzine being friendly with the community, and putting forth legislation to our benefit”
A similar thing happened in NYC. No non-Jewish politician had ever kowtowed as much to orthodox leadership as Bill De Blasio, but most frum neighborhoods voted for Lhota. As least Lhota was competent, albeit uninspiring, but the same thing happened four years later when most frum neighborhoods voted for spectacularly embarrassing Malliotakis. Malliotakis is now trying to take out Max Rose, a centrist Democrat and great friend to the Jewish community (and who is Jewish himself).
I tried to raise frum support for Eliot Engel and got nowhere because he is a liberal Democrat. As a result, Israel’s biggest supporter in Washington is being replaced by an anti-Israel zealot. (The Republicans aren’t even bothering to run a candidate.)
Why should any politician bother to pay attention to the frum community when it will stab him in the back? We need to support Democrats like Engel and Rose or we will get more like Bowman and AOC. And we will whine about Bowman and AOC when we effectively helped them get into office through our inaction.
charliehallParticipantWell it might make sense to use abacuses to teach math. Chisels and stone are hard to use for calculations.
charliehallParticipantVery bad idea. You will void the warranty and you will not be able to download software fixes, some of which are essential. Basically, all computers need to have internet connections if they are going to work properly.
The right way is to restrict access by users. That can be done in Windows 10. (I don’t know about other Operating Systems.)
charliehallParticipant“There is a lot of sentiment against Israel in the black community. ”
Harris, OTOH, has gone out of her way to associate politically with pro-Israel groups, in particular AIPAC. For that reason she is passionately hated by the nutty far left. They also hate her because she actually thinks that criminals should be prosecuted. (Trump thinks they should be pardoned.)
