November 19, 2020 2:30 pm at 2:30 pm in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921379charliehallParticipant
“he really wanted “red meat” conservatives, but someone was talked into “originalists” instead”
Gorsuch isn’t an originalist, he is a textualist. As a result, it is now illegal for you to fire a gay person from your business because you don’t like the fact that he is gay. There is no question that the authors of the Civil Right Act did not have that in mind but that the text of the law clearly supports Gorsuch’s interpretation. Trump i gave gays their biggest legal victory ever — this is a much bigger deal than the marriage issue because it directly affects non-gay business owners.
charliehallParticipantGetting an ID requires spending money which is an unconstitutional poll tax.
Several states have been doing all mail elections for years with no problems. The problem this year was that Trump decided to prevent the US Postal Service from delivering mail in ballots from heavily Democratic areas. That succeeded but Trump lost anyway.
charliehallParticipantI had not planned to get involved in this Georgia Senate race but after seeing the vile motzi shem ra being spouted against Rev. Warnock, I sent him a campaign contribution. He has made some statements I find problematic but he isn’t an anti-Semite, he has taken strong stands against BDS, against the use of “Apartheid” to describe Israel, and opposing those who oppose Israel’s right to exist. He also opposes conditions on US aid to Israel
Besides there is no way the senior pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church is going to be anti-Israel or anti-Semitic. Martin Luther King, Sr. and Jr. were pastors there! The congregation would not tolerate it.
Furthermore his opponent is a filthy rich insider trading crook who wanted to force the Georgia Secretary of State to resign because the Secretary of State was insisting on an honest election count. She is as unfit for public office as is Trump.
Interesting fact: Rev. Warnock went to one of the few remaining all male colleges in the US, Morehouse College in Atlanta.
charliehallParticipantNot only does Atlas know nothing about the virus, but he recently called for people to “rise up” against the restrictions that are saving lives. Biden won’t have any advisors who believe in junk science or armed rebellion and that alone will be a huge improvement.
charliehallParticipantTrump didn’t “flip” the Rio Grande Valley. He just did better than Republicans usually do there.
Those two congressional districts in South Florida had been held by Republicans for decades prior to 2018.
charliehallParticipantThere isn’t even an orthodox Jewish vote bloc. Charedi areas in Brooklyn voted overwhelmingly for Trump. Modern Orthodox areas in Bronx and Manhattan voted overwhelmingly for Biden. I would add anecdotally that some of the most strident Trump bashing I have ever heard in person is inside Modern Orthodox synagogues, and not just those associated with the Orthodox Left.
charliehallParticipant“hysteria from the left wing towards anything that even comes close to actual scrutiny of how the votes were tabulated”
Liar. There was no hysteria. Observers from both parties were present at all times during counting. Philadelphia even livestreamed it! The Republican City Commissioner in Philadelphia attested for the Count. So did the Republican Secretary of State in Georgia and the Republican Secretary of State in Nevada. And the Department of Homeland Security also vouched for the integrity of the election.
The frum on the outside not so frum on the inside folks who are upset that a moral degenerate lost are upset. They should instead be excited that America voted for morality and decency rather than degeneracy.
charliehallParticipant“The story is that a Election employee told others if any Votes come in late – to backdate it.”
The story turned out to be false. No votes were backdated.
“Biden who got 10 Mil from Commy China”
No he didn’t.
“Trump knew this would happen”
He assumed that he would win in a landslide because he had bigger rallies than Biden. He should have asked President Walter Mondale how the size and enthusiasm of rallies corresponds with votes.
Your guy lost. And not by a little. Return to reality.
charliehallParticipant“In Pennsylvania, the ballots themselves are in two envelopes. So to change the date on the ballot the postal worker would have to open the envelopes (a federal crime punishable by 15-20 years in prison), change the date, and reseal them in two new envelopes while copying the voter’s signature. ”
Correct. There was a much easier way for postal workers to skew the election — by not delivering the ballots. And this happened. 1/3 in Philadelphia and 1/5 in Detroit. Biden’s margin in each state would increase by over 100,000 votes had all the legally cast votes been counted. But apparently Trump’s cult members don’t care about fair elections; they just want their guy to continue in office illegally.
charliehallParticipant“If trump only wants the best for everyone then why would he want to run again in 4 years?”
It should be obvious even to the members of his cult that he doesn’t want the best for everyone, only for himself.
charliehallParticipant“Given that 95% of Covid19 infections are harmless ”
Well that would mean that 16 million Americans would have a non-harmless infection if we adopt your do-nothing strategy. Most of those 16 million would die.
“incompetence by hospitals”
That does NOT cause hospitals to be overloaded.
” why aren’t rents and real estate prices collapsing”
Actually they are. Rents are dramatically down in much of NYC. Manhattan apartment rents dropped below $3,000 for the first time in nine years. Landlords are facing catastrophe unless Congress acts, which it won’t.
“Why aren’t schools closing”
They are. But our society would rather keep bars open than schools open.
November 14, 2020 9:06 pm at 9:06 pm in reply to: Deep trouble ahead for the yeshivas under Biden #1919809charliehallParticipant” Congress would probably enact it as a statute”
Such a Supreme Court would even more quickly toss THAT statute out, because the Constitution does not give the federal government any regulatory power over education — unless the educational institution receives federal funds.
“Can’t he (or she) do this via executive order?”
No. See above.
Multiple Supreme Court cases give parents the right to give their children religious education. States (not the federal government) CAN set standards and enforce them, though, although not for the religious part of education. New York has been regulating private educational institutions since the 1780s.

If I wanted to read vile anti-Zionist garbage I’d go read Rashida Tlaib’s Tweets or Linda Sarsour’s Facebook Page.
November 13, 2020 7:58 am at 7:58 am in reply to: Do American Jews care about Eretz Yisroel? #1919534charliehallParticipant“Abigail Spanberger of West Virginia”
Spanberger is from the 7th Congressional District of Virginia. It was gerrymandered to elect a Republican. She has decided to take on the left wing nutjobs in a big way. I contributed to her campaign and I hope she survives redistricting.
November 13, 2020 7:56 am at 7:56 am in reply to: Do American Jews care about Eretz Yisroel? #1919529charliehallParticipant“Bowman and Jones were elected in a liberal stronghold of NYC. ”
Jones’ district does not include any part of NYC. And he is fine on Israel; he gave an interview to Mishpacha Magazine in which he went out of his way to distance himself from the anti-Israel nutjobs. The scary thing is that the frum areas of Rockland County, with a vile anti-Semitic local Republican Party, still voted Republican this year.
Ritchie Torres also won in the South Bronx and he is a true believing Zionist!
charliehallParticipant“Just as he did as part of the Obama/Biden Administration, letting the United Nations Security Council condemn Israel.”
So did Ford, Reagan — something like a dozen times — and Bush 41.
“And signing back up for the disastrous Iran Deal”
It is going to take mushroom clouds over Tel Aviv to bring you back to your senses. It was the Iran Deal that ended Iran’s nuclear weapons program, and now thanks to Trump it is back to enriching uranium to weapons grade again.
charliehallParticipant“They insisted Trump was delusional and a pathological liar.”
He is indeed both delusional and a pathological liar.
” A week after the election Pfizer announced the vaccine. Has one person admitted they were wrong or lied about Trump’s great work to fast track a vaccine?”
The lie was by Mike Pence, trying to take credit for the fast track of the vaccine. Pfizer did a rare thing for a corporation and turned down the government money. It developed the vaccine on its own without government help in partnership with its German partner company Biontech. Pfizer did not participate in Warp Speed.
If it really works, the vaccine is a huge success for Capitalism, Globalism, and Immigration. (Pfizer was founded by immigrants to the US and Biontech by children of Turkish immigrants to Germany.)
Conservatives used to love free market capitalism. Then came Trump.
charliehallParticipantI hope Max Rose runs for Mayor.
charliehallParticipant“And don’t forget how well the Democrats and the left accepted their loss in 2016.”
Hillary Clinton conceded the election the morning after election day.
Trump is trying to overturn the election. And people like you are supporting him. You don’t believe in democracy and you support someone who is a moral degenerate in both his personal and his public life.
charliehallParticipant“He is a reprehensible person and was rejected by the electorate.”
And that says it all. The man who cared more about his personal fortune and political future than a deadly pandemic lost by over five million votes. We should all be rejoicing. That so many frum Jews are continuing to support such a moral degenerate does not make orthodox Judaism look like a moral religion.
charliehallParticipant“If Trump pulls through and wins (whether through recounts, litigation, state legislatures or in Congress)”
It won’t be recounts. The only recounts will be in Georgia and Wisconsin and no recount has ever reversed a margin even one tenth that large in any statewide election in the past 50 years (maybe longer). And even if they do it won’t flip enough electoral votes.
It won’t be through litigation because the Trump people don’t have any evidence of actual fraud, and after the electoral votes are cast the courts no longer have a role to play.
It won’t be by replacing electors because it is the Governors who certify the results. So this can happen only in a state with a Republican legislature AND governor. So the Rs could do this in GA and AZ, along with the 2nd Congressional District in Nebraska. But the Governors of NE and AZ are not the type to commit political suicide, and while Brian Kemp in GA is entirely capable of doing this, that would guarantee a Democratic sweep of the double US Senate runoff. And flipping those still leaves Biden with 278 electoral votes.
Trump’s supporters need to get that the moral degenerate lost. And it wasn’t all that close.
charliehallParticipant” I don’t see any of the six Republican SCOTUS appointees reversing Citizens United which opened the floodgates to unlimited political spending.”
Yup. Judicial activism at its worse, and supported by the frum community.
charliehallParticipantNo fraud, other than Trump cutting into Biden’s margin by having the US Postal Service “lose” mail-in ballots in heavily Democratic areas like Philadelphia and Detroit.
I think that both the Senate and House of Representatives will flip in 2022. Rs will gain from House reapportionment (although not as much as they think — in TX the new districts will have to be Democratic districts). But the Senate map is difficult for Republicans in 2022, with likely D pickups in NC, PA, and WI (retirements), and competitive races in IA (Grassley will be 89) and OH.
charliehallParticipant“And the WP made up a Story that he Recanted.”
Not a made up story. He signed an affadavit recanting. Then he recanted the recanting. So he, too, is a confirmed liar. No judge or jury would believe him now.
The Republicans have no evidence, and their “witnesses” are liars and criminals.
charliehallParticipantThat the Trumpies are relying on Project Veritas shows how little evidence they have. Project Veritas has a long history of doctoring videos. Its founder James O’Keefe has even been convicted of criminal activity and paid big fines in such cases.
The alleged whistleblower Giuliani trucked out on Satuday turns out to be a convicted sex offender.
No surprise that the Trumpies rely on criminals.
charliehallParticipant“Hitler Ym”s and the time before that was Haman”
Hitler didn’t really have Jewish support. But Mussolini did. And Trump is a lot like Mussolini, not Hitler.
charliehallParticipant“Do you use a plumber who is an upstanding wonderful person but a lousy plumber, or a guy who is of lousy character, but knows how to fix the plumbing very well?”
I actually had to fire a plumber who was a great plumber but a sleazebag in his personal life and decided he only wanted to be paid in cash. My Rav had quoted Rav Soloveitchik z’tz’l as saying that it is asur to do business with unethical people.
November 10, 2020 4:27 pm at 4:27 pm in reply to: Do American Jews care about Eretz Yisroel? #1918613charliehallParticipant“Bowman beat Engle, Jones replace Lowy”
Jones is fine. He gave an interview to Mishpacha after the primary. He called out the vile anti-Semitic leaders of the Rockland County Republican Party. And he distanced himself from AOC, Tlaib, and Omar.
Bowman is a problem.
Also new in Congress is Ritchie Torres, a far left gay Afro-Latino who didn’t even ask the Democratic Socialists of America for their endorsement (DSA didn’t endorse Biden either). Torres is a true believing Zionist!
Interesting that we have a lot of gay bashing on this site but it is the two new gay representatives, Jones and Torres, who are our friends, and the two straight representatives, Bowman and Ocasio-Cortez, who aren’t.

November 10, 2020 3:50 pm at 3:50 pm in reply to: State Legislatures Should Give Trump Reelection Win #1918603charliehallParticipant“they know it is fully in line with the constitution and the Republicans control the levers of power to effect this maneuver, with the Democrats being helpless to stop it.”
Wrong. I just looked up the law. It is the *Governor* who certifies the electors, not the legislature. It takes separate votes of BOTH houses of Congress to reject the Governor’s certification. WI, MI, PA, and NV have Democratic Governors. Even if the Governors of GA and AZ wish to end their political careers by overturning a free and fair election, Biden still becomes President with 279 electoral votes. The Supreme Court has no role here.
Trump’s people are powerless to prevent Biden from becoming President on January 20, 2021.
November 10, 2020 12:51 am at 12:51 am in reply to: Could someone explain it to a non American please…? #1918384charliehallParticipantThe races were called based on the number of votes still to be counted and from where they were being counted. For example, in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Nevada, they were mostly from very heavily Democratic areas. I saw the trend in the stats for Pennsylvania and called that state for Biden on Wednesday. This isn’t rocket science.

There isn’t one. They removed the horrible statement that had been in their platform. That is good news. Most of the rest of the platform is still pretty nutty, though.
” and Harris marches in lockstep with BLM.”
No she doesn’t. For one thing, she oppposes defunding police. For another, she doesn’t want to release all drug dealers from prison.
You now may retract and apologize for your motzi shem ra.
charliehallParticipant“She asserts that the computer program that some States used, automatically switched Trump’s votes for him to Biden.”
Folks made the same claim when Kerry lost to Bush.
Your guy lost. Get over it. Even though Trump’s USPS failed to deliver hundreds of thousands of Biden votes in Philadelphia alone. Americans rejected moral degeneracy in favor of a religious mentsch. We should all be rejoicing.
charliehallParticipant“What kind of proof does Dr. Risch has? ”
None. The randomized trials showed that it didn’t work.
charliehallParticipant“He is a n unquestioned expert in his field and anyone who holds that post at Yale is considered to be at the top of their field.”
He is definitely quesitioned. See for example Matthew P Fox, Lucy D’Agostino McGowan, Bryan D James, Justin Lessler, Shruti H Mehta, Eleanor J Murray, Concerns About the Special Article on Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin in High Risk Outpatients with COVID-19 by Dr. Harvey Risch, American Journal of Epidemiology, , kwaa189, https://doi.org/10.1093/aje/kwaa189. Dr. Risch’s claims have been debunked.

November 8, 2020 9:11 pm at 9:11 pm in reply to: Do American Jews care about Eretz Yisroel? #1917973charliehallParticipantTo answer your title question, I would have to say that for the most part the answer is either “no” or “not much”. Most Jews in America are very disconnected from both Eretz Yisrael and from Medinat Yisrael. And we Zionists aren’t very effective at countering this apathy.
November 8, 2020 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm in reply to: Do American Jews care about Eretz Yisroel? #1917970charliehallParticipantActually Netanyahu has endorsed a Palestinian State on several occasions and the Trump peace plan provides for one. The last Israeli Prime Minister NOT to have endorsed a Palestinian State was Yitzhak Rabin of blessed memory, that is of blessed memory unless you are Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. 🙁
November 8, 2020 9:32 am at 9:32 am in reply to: State Legislatures Should Give Trump Reelection Win #1917726charliehallParticipantIt is always amusing when Trump supporters complain about Obama or Biden issuing executive orders but not when Trump does. Trump issued more executive orders per year than any President in 40 years.
November 8, 2020 9:26 am at 9:26 am in reply to: State Legislatures Should Give Trump Reelection Win #1917725charliehallParticipantThe Supreme Court cannot give the Presidency to Trump. The Congress decides which electoral votes to count. The only time that it ever reversed a Presidential election was 1876. It isn’t going to happen now.
Your guy lost.
November 8, 2020 9:23 am at 9:23 am in reply to: State Legislatures Should Give Trump Reelection Win #1917724charliehallParticipantRepublican legislatures are not going to reverse the election, in part because they did pretty well. For example, in New Hampshire the Republicans actually re-elected their Governor, and flipped the Executive Council (which really runs the state government), the Senate, and the House of Representatives. This despite the fact that the Democratic US Senator was re-elected in a landslide and Democrats won both the state’s US House of Representatives races by smaller margins. In Pennsylvania the Republicans kept control of both houses of the General Assembly, elected the State Treasurer and State Auditor, and re-elected all their incumbent US Representatives. I could go on, but the fact is that the Republicans have no interest in questioning the validity of the election results. They will not support Trump’s frivolous lawsuits. They are abandoning Trump like rats on a sinking ship. Trump’s ship has sunk.
charliehallParticipantBiden carried every election district in Riverdale, mostly by landslide margins. This is a repeat of 2016 when Clinton won. My own election district was 82 to 17 Biden in the in person vote.
There was tremendous excitement right after our socially distant mask compliant outdoor service as most of the media outlets called the election for Biden just after the service ended. (Decision Desk had called it at 850am on Friday.) Biden’s margins will increase as the mail in ballots get added to the count. I have not obtained election results from other modern orthodox areas.
November 7, 2020 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm in reply to: State Legislatures Should Give Trump Reelection Win #1917554charliehallParticipantThere is no evidence of widespread fraud, other than the USPS not delivering huge numbers of mail in votes in Democratic areas. To make things worse, the USPS defied a court order to find the missing ballots. This failure cost Biden 200,000 votes in Philadelphia alone.
The election is over. Biden won. He will be the President for all Americans.
charliehallParticipant“The מלאך המות doesn’t read studies or check for masks. He answers to the Highest Power.”
Regardless, you should not jump off tall buildings, run out in front of a speeding bus, or go outside without a face mask.

They mostly were NOT law enforcement officers but private security goons. And for even the ones that were real law enforcement officers, it is illegal for them to do anything other than to enforce FEDERAL law and to protect federal property. They used excessive force against unarmed protesters and they teargassed the mayor.

“HCQ (or Quercitin) + Zinc works, No matter whether you have some paper to rely on!”
You have absolutely no evidence for that statement. And you post anonymously.

Only one of the 21 studies looked at COVID-19; the other 20 studies were for other respiratory viruses. In that one case control study, N95 masks reduced COVID-19 transmission by 97% in healthcare workers.

Absolutely false for most people. I have asthma and have measured my own oxygen saturation with an FDA approved pulse oximeter while wearing a mask. In fact I did it again just before writing this comment, My oxygen saturation is consistently 97% to 98% whether I wear a mask or not.
Stop promoting this dangerous disinformation.
October 17, 2020 9:29 pm at 9:29 pm in reply to: REALLY disappointing clinical trial results #1910845charliehallParticipant“They gave it late & w/o Zinc.”
I only found one observational study of HCQ plus zinc and it had serious, possibly fatal, methodological flaws. THAT is the study not worth the paper it is printed on. We have been plagued with bad COVID studies since the beginning of the pandemic, including the original French study that got Trump, Navarro, and Giuliani so excited about HCQ.
“It’s not worth the paper it’s written on!”
That you say that shows that you do not understand clinical research at all and have no business commenting here.
