November 4, 2011 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm in reply to: vehicles with Hatzala permits not moving during alternate parking #824995chanieMember
While the Hatzalah placards doesn’t really bother me, even if is the wife’s car, after all she gives up a lot by not having her husband around, what bothers me is the following. You have plenty of cars that have the D.O.T. placards stating that they can park at meters for free, tying up a spot for days at time, no need to move during alternate side parking, causing the spot not being cleaned. The problem is that most these placards are giving to people in our community with pull with politicians. There is no reason why XYZ worth 100 million dollars should have one simply because he’s Buddy Buddy with _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _!!!
EDITED
My husband has a chaver of his from his mesivta days, who is high up in the NYC Dept of Finance, he is the equivalent of a NYPD Lieutenant. He told my husband about the corruption of issuance of all these phoney placards being issued. He explained that some vehicles are registered under a handicapped relative, who has no connection with the vehicle, but is issued a handicapped placard. It goes on and on…..
chanieMemberSam2: Thanks for explaining it. Noach did not have children until he was 500 years old, and assuming that Na’amah was his wife, she was well over 500 years old as she was born well before Noach.
As for who is the longest living person? The answer is Chirum Melech Tzur, who was rewarded by Hashem for having assisted Shlomo in building the Bais Hamikdash. He lived for a 1000 years and became so conceited that he believed himself to be a deity. For that, Hashem killed him.
chanieMember1. Which person lived the longest amount of years on Earth? Even surpassing ??????’s 969 years lifespan.
2. Which women was the oldest person to give birth from the beginning of time to the present? Hint: It is not ??? or ?????.
chanieMemberWhat was Noach’s name originally supposed to be, and why wasn’t he given it?
chanieMemberSam2: I was unaware that it is a Machlokes. My source’s are Rashi in ?????? ??? ?? ???? ? where he brings down a ?????? ???. The actual source is ?????? ??? ?? ?. There is also a Zohar that brings down that ???? ??? ??. The mekor is ??? ?? ??. Could you please tell me who disagrees, and I didn’t understand what you meant by “and the Minhagim by Leining Parshas Bereishis”. Thanks.
chanieMemberI can think of 3 off the top of my head…
1. ?? and ????
2. ????? ???? and ??????
3. ?????? and ????
I would imagine that of the 1000 wives of ???? ????, one must of had a name that began with a ?.

When it was hot, humid and 94% in July.?
chanieMemberIt means get out of my path before I run you down.
November 3, 2011 8:33 pm at 8:33 pm in reply to: If you've read "NASI Project Responds", have you changed your mind? #847732chanieMemberBSD
To all who don’t like Nasi’s approach:
WHAT’S YOUR APPROACH?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT?
(other then complain)
That’s your response! Because people are not doing anything other then complain, which in of itself is untrue, as myriads of people are redting shidduchim on their own, we should give money for a possible money scam. Your reasoning in nothing less then absurd.
chanieMembershmoel: You will have to ask your spouse! ?
chanieMemberThe Goq; We have no interest in them whats so ever. It is hard not to notice someone who sits 2 seats away from you. As for my husband, who serves as Gabbai Rishon and treasurer in our Bais Medrash, it hard not to notice especially when the son constantly approaches my husband with all his “complaints”.
chanieMemberThe Goq; She is not conversing with Hashem. My husband tells me her husband who is 13 years older then her, and one of their sons who is divorced does the same thing. The divorced son starts talking to himself when something in shul annoys him. For example, if the Ba’al Tefilla is taking a little to long, etc.
Psychology 101: If you are talking to someone and during that time he/she is mouthing something, it is a supposed response to what you are saying without listing to what you are really saying.
chanieMemberThey say talking to yourself is not a problem. It’s when you answer yourself you better start worrying.
Did you ever hear the one with the guy with multiple personalities goes to his shrink, and when asked to pay the bill responds; “He (one of my other personalities) will pay the bill”.
Seriously, I know of a middle aged woman in shul who carries on silent conversations with herself. It’s creepy and weird.
chanieMemberI would advise you to ask your accountant, who knows your financial status. Good luck.
chanieMemberGumBall: How can you be certain? ?
chanieMemberMy Brothers and Sisters in Lakewood do not have internet. Or Blackberry’s. One doesn’t even have a radio in his home. If he wants to hear the news or weather, he goes into his car. Truth be told, you can see the Kedusha of those homes without internet as opposed to those with internet. Yes I know, I have internet!
chanieMemberRav Moshe held that if you Daven in a Bais Medrash who’s nusach differ’s then you own, you can daven with your own nusach. The only thing that you must say in tandem with the rest of the minyan is the Kedusha in Chazoras Ha’shatz.
chanieMemberSam2: While I do not want to go into specifics why, while he might be a Talmud Chochom, I don’t believe for one second he is a Posek, be it here or Eretz Yisroel. If I told you that your Rov and Posek, Rav Hershel Schachter, Shlita spends time in the CR, to either disseminate Torah, or pasken Shailos would you believe me? Of course not! At least I hope you wouldn’t believe it! I know my Rov and Posek, wouldn’t be caught dead here!!!
chanieMembershein
Rav Moshe, one of the biggest Ashkenazi posek, says that they should change to Ashkenaz.
If your going to quote Rav Moshe, do so correctly. Don’t be part of the 90% of people who say things in his name which is either untrue or skewed.
What Rav Moshe said was that if you daven Nusach Sefard you can permanently change to Nusach Ashkenaz. However if you daven Nusach Ashkenaz it is assur to permanently switch to Nusach Sefard.
chanieMemberHealth, I originally posted against talking about him after the Old Man’s post. This Old Man has claimed and most believe him that he is an old time Poisek in EY.
Your naive for believing him. If he was whom he claimed to be, he would not be here in the CR.
chanieMemberBTGuy, While I agree with most of your assessment of Mason, 50 years of being off the derech can hardly be termed “Temporarily”.
chanieMembersoliek; Having a phobia does not mean a person is lacking in Emunah and Bitachon. I can bring you case histories of current and previous Gedolim who suffer(ed) from phobias, while being on the highest madreiga of Emunah and Bitachon. I am not going to mention his name, but one of the greatest Gedolim of the previous generation suffered from Ailurophobia, the fear of cats. I can name you a list of Gedolim and Poskim who are of the opinion that your Rov is dead wrong. Let him speak with any frum psychologist or psychiatrist.
chanieMemberHashem implanted in every human being a liking to a particular profession, otherwise everyone would occupy themselves in the same field with no benefit to mankind. You realistically have to take stock in which field is best for you. While a personal shopper might sound glamorous to you at this stage of your life, it might be a dream and nothing more. in the meantime, be a teenager and enjoy life!
My husband since his mid teens knew what he wanted to do as an occupation. He self taught himself his profession while in Bais Medrash, was able to do it in the early morning and at night when he was in Kollel for 10 years and B”H he never looked back.
chanieMemberHow about older and more mature!
chanieMemberHere’s one:
Where in the Torah do you have 5 words in a row all starting with an Aleph?
chanieMemberSam2; The fear of flying is aviophobia, not acrophobia, which is the fear of heights.
Brain chemicals, genetics and traumatic experiences also appear to influence the development of phobias.
chanieMemberThere is no justification to drink in excess on Simchas Torah. I know of a Shul where the Rov hands out a drink every time you go around and pass him. I’m not talking once every ????, I mean that that if you circle the shul 9 times a ????, you receive 9 shots. The men are vomiting and/or sprawled out over the floor. It’s disgusting, repulsive and a real Chillul Hashem!
chanieMemberJothar; Thank you for the correction. In the times of the Bais Hamikdash they were taken all seven days. It was only everywhere else it was taken on the first day. See Sukkah 41a.
chanieMemberPray for ????, then you will be in ??????? and have only one day to do the ???? ????. That’s assuming you don’t purchase your Aravos a month before Yom Tov ?.
October 17, 2011 7:04 pm at 7:04 pm in reply to: What to do to the chazzan who takes too long for hallel #818590chanieMemberStand next to him and daven louder then he does!
chanieMemberI wonder based on his deteriorating health if they ever will tell him.

Moshe called one of the two Yisraelim fighting a Rasha
That is incorrect. Moshe never called him a Rasha. The Torah called him a Rasha. “????? ???? “??? ??? ???
chanieMemberWhen my husband was in his late teens he was once approached by one of these missionary types in the street. The guy was going on how yoshke died for everyone’s sin’s, and how he saves everybody. My husband look him straight in the face and told him, “He couldn’t save himself, he going to save other people”?
chanieMemberShlocks very rarely serve its purpose. That why it’s called a “Shlock”. Fold the chairs against the wall and cover them with a plastic tablecloth.
chanieMemberFeif Un; The only Carvel in all America that was Cholov Yisroel, was the one on 18th Avenue years ago, when the Tress brother’s bought it. It is now a Sprinkles.
chanieMemberpopa_bar_abba: LOL!!! You’re hysterical. I’m laughing just picturing it in my mind.?
chanieMemberMy daughter’s went to Bnos and Segulah. While they had a blast in Bnos, they loved Segula more.
chanieMemberMy husband told me that in all of Shas there is only one instance of a person spending Rosh Hashana in the cemetery, and the reason is that he got into an argument with his wife. It is in the fourth Perek of ???? ?????. There is a ??”?, (The Noda Byehuda), that holds that he dreamt the whole episode, as he was a ???, and wasn’t allowed to enter the cemetery.
chanieMemberThen you have the crazy “Na Nachs” which is an avoda zorah in of itself.
chanieMemberWho was Lapidos?
The original owner of a bungalow colony in White Lake??
chanieMemberamc; My intention was not to Chas V’sholom belittle ??? ?????. It was meant to be releative as compared to full ?????.
chanieMemberSam2; I calculated from Yetziyas Mitzrayim to Chet Haeigel, which was much earlier, where Hashem tells Moshe, ?? ??.
chanieMembersqueak; Could you please rephrase that question?
chanieMemberSam; A Gut Yuhr!
I come in at a little under 2 years.
chanieMemberSam2; Chanie: On what do you base your assumption that all the Avos were supposed to live for 180 years?
The source is ?????? ??? ?? ??
chanieMemberNew Question:
For how many years did ??? ????? enjoy total ????? on the highest madreiga? This does not include his younger years when he only had ??? ?????.
For the record there are no Seforim that discuss it. It is purely a mathematical calculation.
chanieMemberYWN Editor;
Thank you for doing such a wonderful job from A to Z.
To everyone out there, A Gmar Chasimah Tovah, and may all our Tefillos be pleasing and accepted by the ????? ?? ????!!!
chanieMemberflyer; Very close but it goes a little further. The amount of words that he spoke to ???? was 25 words. The additional 9 words is the Posuk right before. ????? ???? ?? ???? ??? ??? ??? ????. Hashem said to ????; “After all the kindness that I did for you, you have no right to look so old”. Therefore being that ???? asked him his age, being that he never saw such an old looking man, he was punished for those 9 words as well.
chanieMemberSam2: I read it years ago in Sefer Beraishis “The Medrash Says”. Next week, IY”H, I will look it up and give you the source. BTW, the answer to my question is not found in that sefer.
ItcheSrulik; The question was, why 33 years?
chanieMemberNext question: All the ???? were supposed to live 180 years. Only ???? achieved that distinction. ????? we know lost 5 years so that he should not witness ??? showing his true colors. Why did ???? live for only 147 years? Why did Hashem deduct 33 years of his life?
