candy613Memberthis thread is so cute why is it not listed anymore?
candy613MemberIn our city we had many scary things happen in a weird pattern that made it obvious that there was something very wrong. When someone went to different rabbeim in E”Y for brachos and explanations, a rav said this might have happened because there is too much talking during davening in so many places.
candy613MemberHmmm… I have some ideas of what cooljude’s should be… 😉
candy613MemberMy little brother goes to a school that teaches Yiddish. He came home with his first newsletter from the rebbi. I read it aloud to him and it is written as if the kids are writing what they covered to the parents. So it said Im really catching on quickly to the Yiddish and learning so much…. So with big eyes he looks at me and says, “Ya i really did learn words! I learned that Brrrrrieeefcase (roll the tongue for the ‘r’) means back pack in Yiddish!” It was just so innocent which made it even more funny!!!!!!
June 26, 2011 11:13 pm at 11:13 pm in reply to: Any ideas for a good dinner on a George Forman? #781853candy613MemberMake hamburgers, but before you stick them on, smother them in bbq sauce and put garlic powder and whatever spices you want on and stick on a piece of pastrami! It is so good you cannot even imagine!

candy613Memberoh wow sounds like fun! well I think you just gotta stay there ;-( well you wanna hear an amusing story about jury duty??? so my principal got married, and 2 weeks after the wedding she got called for jury duty! She says she was still one of those oblivious kids, and had no clue what jury duty entailed. She went, AND GOT CHOSEN! and it wasn’t just jury duty for the day, it was a two week murder case! Can you believe it???? She had to go in every day for two weeks, and was just a newly wed!!!! so be happy you’re probably not in that position!!!
Good luck!

candy613MemberShlishi- are you serious? For heaven’s sake! It was purim, and it’s not like they dressed up as something that was really out of line or inappropriate. They were just having fun, and they did win grand prize. I don’t think it’s necessary to analyze it like that. It was just something fun they did for purim to raise money. There has been much worse done out there.

candy613MemberSomeone I know fell asleep with her contacts in, and when she woke up the next morning she looked like a vampire! Her eyes were completely red! it was so scary! And besides for that they were stuck to her eyes and she couldn’t get them off! She ended up needing to get them pulled out by her doctor, and i’m still traumatized!
>O<613
candy613MemberOh wow it’s great!!!! I think everyone should watch it! It’s so good!!!!
>O<613
candy613Memberi also dont read secular books so much anymore. I was getting extremely frustrated, because I feel all these jewish novels are good, but all the same stuff. I did find some books I really liked though. Devorah Weiner has some really good ones. Changing Tides, Hearts of Gold, Hearts of Gold 2, and 2 others that are good 2! There is also another book I just got that I really like called Blueprints not exactly sure who the author is.
If you like short stories, Rabbi Dovid Kaplan’s Impact books are really good, and also Nachman Seltzer has a bunch all really good! I know how ur feeling wish ya luck!!!
>O<613
candy613Memberi say sing lots of songs, especially with tunes they know! And go through it with them before. Even though sounds funny, really helps! Also let them say all the divrei torah they want even though it starts to get a bit much, and let them keep showing you the hagaddah they made even if you saw it 20 times before! 😉
Good Luck!

candy613MemberNO have no worries real-brisker! No one forgot about you! Especially cuz you have the best subtitle in the entire cr!!!! I was wondering where you were….!!!! 😉
>O<613
candy613Memberi’m not sure how that was supposed to make us smile, but ok… and please no one cares about anyone elses threads. They look at the topic and just say something if they have what to say on it, and dont if they dont care about the topic. Even while posting, i dont always feel that people are actually listening to what others have to say, they are just writing what they want thrown out there. No offense to anyone, just a reality most of the time…
>O<613
candy613MemberYeah but i hear DKTY is really hard to get into…
>O<613
candy613Memberyeah same here didn’t really start yet… It’s so hard to motivate yourself to start, but once i do, i get really into it…
>O<613
candy613MemberI know a bunch of people who go, and looking at their pictures, it looks like such an amazing place! They have a blast! I don’t know how old your daughter is, but i personally know one of the TC sups who are going this year, and she is the best, as all the counselors are amazing!!!!
>O<613
candy613MemberChicago is such a great city! There are so many different types of people that live in Chicago. And there are sooo many NYers and Lakewooders who have decided to move to Chicago because of the kollels Chicago has. Chicago has a special midwest warmth, but also the excitement of NY as well. And as someone correctly said before, Chicago is the next intown city after NY. Whenever any NYers come to Chicago, they are surprised how with it and un-nerdy Chicago really is. Its an awesome city!!!!!
>O<613
candy613MemberThere is also Ateres Bnos Yerushalayim, a girl’s seminary, run by rabbi hillel belsky, but i assume this is not what you are talking about…
>O<613
candy613Memberim so confused eclipse- are you part of the cr or not? i was so proud that someone actually stopped and got rid of it, but now you’re back on.
>O<613

>O<613
candy613Memberanonymrs- agreed!!!! there are a bunch of people who figured out who i am (I have absolutely no clue how!) and now i don’t feel as comfortable posting so much… Know the feeling.
>O<613
candy613Memberthere are some people who dont mind listening to these type of songs. I have a teacher who talks about this music in a way that would give anyone goosebumps! It kind of makes you wonder and think about what is really the line that we dont allow ourselves to cross. If we are ok with non jewish tunes, what’s gonna become ok next???
>O<613
candy613Memberi think it all depends on which school one goes to. There are those schools that dont answer every question, and it may feel to students that they are just brushing them off. Other schools i know of answer every single question! and if it is something that is too long to talk about in class or that is a topic better to be talked about 1 on 1, its done that way. But i believe that people who go to these schools have a better understanding. I would hope that someone who went to a school that couldn’t give them what they needed, would attend a yeshiva or seminary that was more suitable for them in that area.
>O<613
candy613Memberi believe that it is not worth making a big deal about it. You just sit and dont get into a long and chatty type of conversation. You acknowledge he’s there, and answer the approprite questions if he asks, and then that’s it! Just do your own thing, and let him do his own thing. I would have thought that it may not be ok to do this, but there are teachers i know, and other people i respect, who would just sit and not make a scene out of it.
>O<613
candy613Memberok bnos chava does not start after sukkos! Are you actually going?
If you are there is a lot you should know about it! Maybe talk to another girl going, or someone who is there, or has went recently. The girls there are especially helpful in getting info!
>O<613
candy613Memberwell if the kid is really responsible put it in his pocket or something. Otherwise, tape it on the shirt! There’s no way it wont get to the tzedaka box from there!!!
>O<613
candy613Memberand for some reason whenever someone has nothing to say, we all gotta hear about it! does that make any sense???
>O<613
candy613MemberWhere i live there is actually a gemach for that. There is a lady who is in charge of taking the flowers from the vorts, and arranges for others to use them! She does it in the best way and arranges it so smoothly!
>O<613
candy613Memberi think emotions are such a big part of life! There is nothing like the joy of a new baby, graduating, getting a job, the list goes on forever! Although pain is painful, it is part of the growing process. We need it in order to become better people! We just need to make sure we take the appropriate action when we ARE suffering. If we wouldn’t have emotions, we would pretty much walk around like robots! I don’t think anyone would want this! Emotions are part of the essence of a person! They help us in so many ways, but i do see why you are saying that. Just think of them as a tool for growth!
