if you’re truly innocent you could fight it. and even if you can’t – and what does it help to know that there’s a cop there? if you know there’s a cop and you’re within the law, he might give you a ticket anyway, right? what would you have done differently?

so myshadow (wow this one’s gonna sound like a sem question…)

what’s the difference if it’s free or not? if you’re meant to win, you will. You have more bitachon when you spend for it? But when it’s free you need more tickets to satisfy you?

lol did i say seminary or what?!

wow. i can’t believe this. yes, i push over the speed limit sometimes. (pretty often, actually!) and no, i’ve never gotten a speeding ticket. but i NEVER make illegal turns or u-turns (and in brooklyn it’s all one-way streets, plus traffic so it could be a whole 10-minute ordeal to go around the block…)

anyone doing anything illegal on the road and get a ticket deserves it. including myself speeding. sorry, guys.

(i usually say “sorry, charlie” but a guess it’s not so fair of me to do it on here…)

i dunno. i can’t type words and purposely misspell them. it would take forever for me to do what you did. i’d have to go back and switch all the “e”s to “i”s and vice versa…

no – a bigger chessed would be to let them get a ticket. maybe next time they’d drive more safely. i don’t like this thread. don’t look for ways out of tickets by cheating the system. be more careful!

squeak – you could argue whatever you want. i didn’t say that a guy without a ring is in trouble. but it as easier to work in an office. especially if there are formal/informal parties that a guy must attend. maybe you’re not familiar with today’s society. a lot of crazy things happen, even in the most formal offices. by bro’s a lawyer. there are sick stories.

(and no, he doesn’t wear a ring – he’s the biggest snob on the planet:} though he sometimes thinks he should, anyway.)

no. never got that close to marrying anyone. but yes, i would feel like a need to tell a guy everything before i got engaged. i was told that i don’t have to – i could put it all behind me because i changed so much since then. but i dunno. i feel like it’s not straight and honest.

i know from men who work in not jewish/not frum offices. the last thing they want is a flirting secretary. yes, eventually she’ll find out you’re a married men. but why bother dealing with that – even if it’s for a week. or a day. and they’re constantly meeting new people. it’s so much easier to have it clear by wearing a wedding band. it’s takne for granted that a married man always wears a ring to work. that’s just how it is.

so yeah, if a guy’s a rebbie he won’t need it.

by the way – that’s when you know what the shadchan’s real motives are. if they get mad when you say “no” – chances are they don’t really care. they just want to be able to cross another person off their list. and i noticed that there are a lot of shadchan-wannabes out there now. they really get upset and start guilt-tripping – even when you give them a million and one legitimate reasons why the guy’s not for you.

and once i see that side to a person – i assume they’re not for real and i stay FAR away!

    not sure about the history behind men wearing rings are, but i hear that it can be kinda necessary for a frum man (or any man, really) working in an office. if a guy’s not wearing a wedding band, very often women assume he’s single. not so smart :}

i’m a lot younger, but you’re so right. i can’t stand when people think they’re gonna fix the world by throwing 2 people who have no shaychus together and then pushing marriage. most people have no idea what they’re doing and they tend to make things worse.

even if one of these haphazard people have a good idea – i would never let them run the show – i’d take it to an experienced shadchan. the chances of a chadchan accidentally messing things up are less.

i think they sit around and say “who could we marry off? we need three shidduchim to get a free ticket to gan eden…”

    seriously. thanks, but no thanks.

    1. i’m perfectly happy with myself. tough on anyone who doesn’t like my history. no one is being forced to marry me.
    2. there’s no way he comes on here. he hates computers.
    3. i’m not marrying him anyway.
