    Boy, CB.. you are GOOD!

Actually, Ms. Blink made a cameo appearance a few days ago, so she has been accounted for.

But you are right, Ms. Sac appears to have dropped off the page. And so has Dr. Pepper.

What triggered the though was my recent walk across the Bklyn bridge, and when I saw the waavy aluminum bldg, the conversation we had in GS last year came to mind

Lets give it a day or two and see what develops.

They need to add a few stops on the “other” side of the bridge, so the hipsters don’t need to traipse thru “our” side of the nabe, dressed the way they do.

” unless its decided by the members and the board “

If they put their minds (and $100k) to it, the chassidim can install a new board by having “new” members join. Most likely, membership is open to anyone orthodox, and once a member in good standing, have the right to vote.

It happened in shuls before, and could happen here too.

The only way to possibly stop it, would be to apply for landmark status, but that might open up the shul to photo snapping sighseers (dressed less than frum).

Sad state of affairs, but one that the membership of the 1960s 70s set the stage for, all by themselves

I’m old enough to remember BE in its heyday. Yom Tov, it was THE place to be seen if you were a frum modern single.

That scene is still quite alive and vibrant. But it has moved to places like Ohav Tzedek on the UWS.

Its just a matter of time before the BE building gets taken over by one of the chassidim.

Ok, lets try a different tact.

Would you agree that today’s society is more permissive (in certain areas) than it was 10 years ago?

    Presumably, you would say, yes.

Would you agree that society is even more permissive (in those same areas) in the past 5 years, than it was in the 5 years prior to that?

Again, you would most likely agree.

    <Now for the clincher>

Would you agree that each time the bar gets lowered, and a perpertrator of such wanton behavoir gets idolized, it makes it that much easier to kasher abbhorent behavior?

If you are on Team Yiddishkeit like the rest of us, you would again need to agree.

So, now do you see why letting DSK and Ms. Amamnda off scott free sends such a bad message?

The legality of “guilt” or “innocence” is besides the point. Its a matter of who do we cheer for, and who do we condenm?

What we (at least, me) are talking about here is the cheapening of the most sublime human interaction, one that has been defaced by today’s society.

We of Team Yiddishkeit need to take a stand. This sublime human interaction (can’t get more specific, but ha’maven yo’vin) is not a sport, and not a powerplay.

Its much more than that, and we need to treat it as such. And by giving people like DSK and Amanda the green light, we take this sublime gift and drag it thru the mud.

Ouch, AYC. For what its worth, I had a small dose of what you’re talking about this yom tov, so I know a small sample of the pain of being alone.

Hashem does not need to “forgive” in this case, as you were never in the wrong. Since you do not have the vehicle the rest of us have, your method of joy is different that it is for the rest of us.

Its a small consolation, but perhaps you can find someone in a similar situation, and bring some simchas you tov to them. And be’ezras Hashem, next year, may your situation will be more to your likeing, and enable you to be the baal simcha you want to be!

Funny you should mention the kugel row issue. We make the Erev Shabbos kugel in a Pyrex loaf pan.

I feel it should be cut side-to-side in a rectangle.

My wife say it needs to be cut in a square, just like its done in shul.

I say, its only cut into a square in shul, because the pan is 11 x 17, so you cannot make a reasonable square in a commercial setting.

She says, no, kugel must be square, regardless of the pan size.

I tried to argue that a square leaves more exposed to dry up, but from a surface perspective, the cut area is the same in a square as it is in a rectangle (on a loaf pan). So that argument went nowhere.

    So…Who is right?

Yes, I know of the work he does for teh IMF. But very little is said in criticism about his personal antics. And THAT needs to be condemned.

Its sort of like saying that Hitler, Y’M was a great politician and strategist. Regardless, if he was or was not, OUR messages needs to be focused on his evil side, so that all the world knows where we stand on a issue like wanton murder.

“Mr. Khan was a world famous person”

Which means several things. A person can be measured by:

    * Who he praises (who he admires)

You are right, I did miss your point. OK, let me see if I have it now:

You say the Knox case was tossed because of weak evidence. Perhaps.

What I’m saying is, had this been a “standard” murder (one that did not involve the steam and drama this one did), it would not have even warranted a 2nd look.

Society “wanted” to find these 2 innocent, so they found the facts to support a way off the hook.

Where I think we disagree is, you believe that a person’s motive will not taint the truth.

I believe that a motive (or a bias) will allow you too see the facts the way you want to see them.

And if you read the story from a non-media angle, you’ll agree, the facts could lead you to any conclusion you want to reach.

So, now do I get and adress your point?
