If all of the Yeshiva’s conform to the same standards then there is no reason to exist independently. Let the Yeshivas consolidate and eliminate staff, this will reduce expenses and perhaps start to lower tuition costs. Why pay for double staff it two yeshivos has similar hashkofos, share a similar derech halimus etc..

We have to abide by the laws of the land. The goyim think that we can get away with anything because we can run off to Israel and be protected there.

If you don’t mind my asking, what does your husband do? I assume that since you are able to budget for a gym and a cleaning lady that your husband has a good job.

Wake Up! How much of the frum community is surviving because of government programs and handouts? Without WIC, medicaid, foodstamps and section 8 where would many people be? We are leaching off of the government and then we flaunt it. Are you surprised by all the anti-semitic vandalism in Brooklyn?

Don’t go. Look for other alternatives. Seminaries can charge whatever they want because people will pay. Stop sending the girls and you’ll see how quickly tuition drops.

“I hope all the seminaries stay open and that all parents have enough money to send each daughter to seminary in Israel. To deny them this opportunity is to deny them a major part of our heritage.”

What major part of our heritage would they be denied exactly? When did Seminary for girls become part and parcel of frumkeit, in the last 30 years? Look up the definition of heritage.

The “Frum” economic situation is somewhat similar to the problems with the United States Social Security Program. When FDR enacted social security there was an almost equal ratio of workers contributing to the system as there were retirees receiving benefits. Over time, due to population increases, economic shifts etc that ratio has changed to where there are almost 8 retirees receiving benefits for every one worker contributing to the system. With not nearly enough money coming in to the system, it will go Bankrupt without major reform.

Baruch Hashem our families are very large (much larger than the first post-war generation?) and our first priority is to educate our children in Yeshivos which is probably our largest expense). The answer is that unless we have more people contributing financially by to the system IT WILL FAIL (any yes, all the naysayers will say that everyone has been saying that for years, but it will).

Plug in whatever numbers you want, but if there is a considerably higher percentage of non-economic contributors to the system it is doomed.

What difference does it make what the percentage of false accusations are? Even if 99% are false this is such a terrible crime that it must be reported and dealt with. Put yourself in the shoes of the parent whose child was allegedly abused, imagine if this poor child has to through life because his accusation was swept under the rug….

I recently wrote a graduate paper on shifting paradigms in corporate American culture. One issue is the changing “rules” for how to dress in the workplace. Interestingly, there are conflicting views on how one’s clothing affects their work and production.

I would like to see the electoral college modified that the electoral college votes are awarded based on the candidates margin of victory. A candidate can win California by 1% yet he/she receives all of the state’s 55 electoral votes which is 20% of the 270 needed to win.

1)I saw it first hand in his apartment.

    2) With a name like “Real Brisker” you probably are not a Yekki and have little or no knowledge of the minhagim.

Additionally, Rav Breuer’s family came from Hungary, therefore many of his personal minhagim differ than those of Germans.

MP: In the Yeshivish community such “compliments” would constitute hitting and would not go down well.

    Posted 5 hours ago #

Please tell me that you forgot to include the word “on” after “hitting” which is another way of saying “flirting” and that you don’t actually mean the physical act of hitting.

While I don’t honestly know if a girl from a yeshivish background would feel comfortable being “hit on”, I’m sure most would agree that it is not on the same level as say a slap across the face.

I had the surgery on a Wednesday morning, was home thursday night and back to work on Monday. When I had it done the post-op food guidelines were different than they are now. I could not have solids foods for six weeks, but I believe that restriction has changed. Having the band adjusted is important and making sure not to drink calories like soda is crucial.

Yes, I had it over 10 years ago and have lost (and kept off) 100+ lbs.

It takes time to getting used to. If you throw up it’s because you either ate too much, ate too quickly, or ate the wrong food. There are some foods that are difficult to eat with the band. I for one can not eat bread.

Like everything there are trade offs. I was more than happy to accept living with eating less for a healthier life.

I think they had a lower standard of living than that which we have become used to. Look around at the vast amounts of “products” available for pesach. I doubt in previous generations they had kosher l’pesach frozen pizza, or cereal. They made do with what they had. I had heard from someone that people had certain pots that they kept chometz free all year and that they would save the chicken fat etc all year round to prepare for pesach.

D- Make the electoral count similar to the way most state primary delagates are awarded. For example, if NY has 34 electoral votes they should be awarded proportion to the state’s popular vote. Let’s say the democrat beats the republican 55% -45% the electoral votes should be divided 18 – 16. As a New York Republican, my vote does not really count…..

    Just my two cents

    Dear Esteemed Teachers,

Yes, teaching is a difficult profession. True, many institutions are behind on salary payments. Was someone holding a gun to your head when you accepted the position? If you didn’t want to deal with children you should have chosen a different career.

Being a teacher is your JOB. I and many of my friends work for frum people. They understand the difficulty in making yom tov, but they do not close the office a few days before yom tov so we can cook and clean.
