Very often, the experiments will yield results other than those intended. For example, no one set out to invent the X-Ray machine but it was the result of another experiment. So while 8 Billion to crash atoms together seems like a lot, you never know what else can come from it.

I graduated 15 years ago.. (additionally, I took classes at other non jewish-affiliated (gasp! co-ed) schools, so I can speak from both ends of the spectrum) Here’s my take:

You can get as much out of Touro as you are willing to put in. If you want to just slide through you can, whereas if you take it seriously one can get a quality education.

I myself was going in to a family business so job placement was not an issue. I do know from others that the school itself will not be very helpful in job placement. Touro has an excellent reputation for accounting and graduates often find jobs at top firms. Pre-law graduates also seem to place very well. I know that the programs for social work, PT, OT, etc. seem to be popular but I do not know much about them.

    Good luck.

Smartphones are only allowed to use the various banking apps that allow you to mkae payments for tuition or to the institutions that ban smartphone existance.

“They were ok with my using the smartphone for looking up information for them”

These must be the children of the hypocrites whose parents wouldn’t have a TV in the house but sent them over to my house to watch TV when they needed some alone time.

I’m confused about the generation skip. What difference should that make? What if money was left to three generations at one time (my parents, myself, my children?)

And if like the o/p asked, at least 10% was left to charity, do the heirs have to give on the remainder?

Anyone who says that they are using Alcohol as an outlet and can stop whenever they want is fooling themselves.

If someone needs an outlet they should try physical activity.

MorahRach- I’m sorry if you found this to be an attack. When posts are not written properly they are very often difficult to read or can be misunderstood. If you have something to post, write it when you are not rushed and can make sure that it makes sense.

    Please forgive me.

Interestingly enough this happened to me about a half an hour ago. I ran in to my soon to be former sister-in-law and her husband. He was very nice and cordial, she wouldn’t even look my way. Shame of it is, My ex and i were their shadchanim and now I feel bad for him because without doubt she will end up with the same family caused problems as her sister.

I can’t remember where I read this, but I’ll post it anyway (not verbatim).

The reason why we say kaddish (or daven for the omud or learn) for a niftar is to replace the kiddush hashem that has been lost since that persons passing. The best way to replace that kiddush hashem is to learn torah. As not every one was capable of learning (no artscroll back then) they would daven for the omud. The problem arose as to what to do for a koton who could not learn and was not able to daven for the omud until his bar mitzvah. It was for these children that the saying of kaddish was instituted.

Kaddish being said by a mourner etc.. is first mentioned by the Ohr Zarua in the 13th century.

Unfortunately people always look at the ex-husband as being the unwilling party and there is very little support for the husband who is willing to give the GET but an unreasonable wife.

2qwerty- You said it yourself in your post “why bother walking to a gas station when I can call Chaverim.” You CHOSE not to walk to a gas station.

Were you on a dark deserted road and in danger? It sounds to me like you were absent minded in letting your car run out of gas, and just plain lazy in calling chaverim.

I think that you are wrong. Almost every Amusement Park (or the like) will charge you admission whether you will be using the rides or not. Most also charge a separate fee for parking.

If he wants to stay in his Yeshiva, Touro is an option. Ohr Hachaim in Queens is also flexible about going to school at night.

By the way if anyone out there is suffering and needs a medical professional find out how to contact me off of this board and I’ll give you the name of the person who saved my life.

Of course this will come off as making all men appear shallow (and I am a male)……

Boys are most concerned with money/support and looks. The money and support he will already know about from the shadchan, and he’ll make up his mind pretty quickly about the looks.

Girls are probably looking for something more emotional and it will take time for that to develop.
