by the way the criteria for not guilty by reason of insanity is basically that he genuinely did not know that what he did was wrong at the time of the crime. its remarkably hard to prove. the only reason people get so hung up on it is because of the media. news…movies…TV…etc…overhype the idea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

No, Kapusta, that’s where you’re wrong. At least when you would equate a murderer with someone who has a “mainstream” mental illness. They are not the same, and one is not necessarily mentally ill in the clinical sense when they commit murder. There may be other factors involved such as past experiences, events in his life which have made him callous toward human life, etc…but just because a person does something unspeakable which you cannot explain does NOT mean that they must be mentally ill in the clinical sense.
As I said, to the best of my knowledge, Levi had no history of mental illness. I understand that it is easy to blame what he did on a mental illness, but you’re just wrong about that. Thought you should know. As Aries said, he wasn’t mentally ill, just evil. There is a difference. Now he may not be wired the same, much in the same way that I am far less emotional than your average person, does that make me mentally ill? No. It makes me different.

see thats something i never got. about mesira…concerning monetary issues there are alternatives to mesira and using a secular court. however in criminal cases such as rape murder abuse etc…there IS no alternative…so why should mesira be assur? theres no malicious intent, because there is no alternative…

not at all. not even slightly. there is no way the store intends for people to buy clothing once and just keep rolling it over. no company intends to facilitate its own insolvency. now you can say that when a company sets forth such a liberal return policy they know that people will exploit it so you can go ahead and exploit it because the company knows it will be exploited…does that mean that the company WANTS to be exploited? NO! nu…so why did they implement such a liberal return policy? because for the things they wanted to allow…it would have taken a book the size of the tax code to distinguish between what they want and what they allow. so they didnt bother. does that make returning clothing for the next size is right? no. not even close.
i dont understand what everyone is going on about…we dont have a court system of our own, least of all a Sanhedrin. we live in the US of A and we abide by their laws. if the laws are “kill levi” then yes. kill levi. the goyim dont have to abide by the laws of the torah, only the sheva mitzvos. and as far as i know (correct me if i am wrong) there is nothing in there that precludes a death penalty.
