some childish idealism and unrealistic expectations…its too long to actually explain
i now run a forum which absorbed his user base.

oh…and discredited him to many of his former fans
bombmaniacParticipant“I would not buy gold in this economy right now, I would sell though.”
which would be a nice reason to buy now if i was willing to wait 😛
gold IS hyperinflated but i see nothing that tells me that the reason behind the fear is going to go away over the next year
bombmaniacParticipantits not that…i work 2 jobs and have no expenses and ive been spending on garbage….so i figure i may as well use it for something productive
bombmaniacParticipantwell the problem with diamond is that its inherently worth very little. the price is regulated by one specific interest which holds a monopoly over the diamond market as a whole. thats not ideal. i dont mind leaving the money in there for a while and the money is essentially disposable. its this or atlantic city…except that atlantic city is way more risky and this takes a lot longer 😛
essentially what this is going to be is (one way of putting it is exchanging currency for gold) a way of backing my savings. im not looking to strike it rich. gold looks like a nice way of A) maintaining the value of what i put in over a long term and B) probably give me a nice return on the investment. not the biggest…but more than i can get in a CD or a money market et al. mutual funds are off the table for me because they depend on too many variables.
as far as diversity goes…i dont have enough money to diversify yet 😛 i may eventually branch out but right now i think this is a good place to start.
i also dont have enough for physical gold or bullion, but i do have enough for shares in gold or bullion (ETF essentially.) perhaps if i have enough $$$ down the line i may change that…but for now ETF it is. (GLD specifically. its what ive been looking at for a while already.)
soliekyea…i made an ameritrade account. im not starting yet because i still wanna do some more research but i think this is the way im going.
and shmoel: heres the thing. gold can indeed tumble in price but it always self regulates. its not finite. if a corporation tanks then its gone. people who invested lets say in worldcom got screwed because once it went down it stayed down. gold and precious metals in general (although some are WAY more volatile than others) dont have that issue.
bombmaniacParticipant“Bomb: 5 years is a joke. In the next 5 the trend could easiliy reverse.”
i didnt say that thats all i looked at. ive been following it personally over 5 years…i wasnt old enough to follow it past that but i have looked at the data and i think its worth it.
and i know that theres a distinct difference between commodities and businesses which is why commodities interest me so much. its not a “get rich quick” market and it requires long term investments. or long-ish term investments with only medium returns. investing in a company like google is nice, but especially in teh technology market anything can happen. someone can make a new produt and the company stock tanks in one day. thats far less likely in commodities especially precious metals.
also gold is an interesting commodity becuase it is so versatile and has so many uses. as the tech industry grows the demand for gold increases because printed circuits use gold as conductors because of its minimal resistance and lack of oxidation over time. and thats just one use aside from jewelry and being an overall safe commodity. its also pretty recession proof because it retains its value even if demand goes down (obviously prices will fall a bit bu they wont tank) also gold is in universal demand equally and not controlled by any one entity which is nice (as opposed to corporations or oil for example)
anyway…yeah,. it may be expensive but from what i can tell its a very safe investment.
back to my question…what do i do
bombmaniacParticipanthow would i go about putting money down on this…i know the principles behind it all but i dont know how to actually do any of this
bombmaniacParticipantrofl
shmoel: thats the trend its been following for the past 5 years (which is how long ive been following it)
bombmaniacParticipant“I became ‘frum’ about 42 years ago when it was not in fashion.”

bombmaniacParticipanttaos akum…go for it
bombmaniacParticipantAbellah why chould they not have been wrong?
bombmaniacParticipantdid you just save 15% on your car insurance?
bombmaniacParticipantnegiah! nu!
bombmaniacParticipantwas i…? i mean i suppose you women need to eat a lot…what with flapping your jaws all day and that…
bombmaniacParticipantbecause women eat like pigs. sure they claim theyre all on diets…but what do you think they do all day? cook? look after their kids? HAHAHAHAHAH thats funny! NO! theyre clogging all the restaurants and fressing. so yeah…they need it more than men do. sure men come home and have a huge dinner…but thats because we dont eat the entire day because were busy…wait for it…WORKING!!!
bombmaniacParticipantTL;DR
bombmaniacParticipant“bombmaniac-Hey i really like those glasses!!”
so do i 😛
bombmaniacParticipant“but not at someone else’s expense.”

bombmaniacParticipantits idiotic. its in order of the alphabet…not qwerty…not dvorak…its retarded. you may get used to it at home, but then what happens if you have to use a normal computer with a normal keyboard

easy there big fella she already has a chassan :D:D:D
bombmaniacParticipanttake 3 guesses. my not using the term charedi for people outside EY is no indication of my opinions on their yahadus.
bombmaniacParticipantTBH i probably would have same the same myself. sarcasm is a lot of fun 😀
bombmaniacParticipantwell…it is but i separate the terms when it comes to the US. i usually only use charedi when im referring to israelis.
bombmaniacParticipantits a shame that the mods deleted the first part of that post…i like being caustic and sarcastic 😀
bombmaniacParticipantNO! for goodness sake! you read WAY too much into my post. i am asking because of the news story about the charedi police officers in the israeli police force. sheesh…and in the US the lines arent quite the same as they are in israel so i dont identify as charedi. i identify as chofetz chaim.
bombmaniacParticipantRIGHT
bombmaniacParticipantwell thats the thing…maybe they can because theres always the possibility of sakanas nefashos…ive wondered about it
bombmaniacParticipantof course it is where do you think she gets it…lots of practice
bombmaniacParticipantwell its hard to truly identify with something you cant quantify. same reason why so many people have problems with emuna. its hard to imagine the anticipation and desire one should feel for moshiach and the bayis shlishi…heres how i do it. i find things in the world that act as a mashal to what i should feel and try to apply it to moshiach and bayis shlishi. for example (and im not kidding) presidential elections. especially obama’s and the upcoming elections in 2012. people are in the dumps now, when the recession struck in 2008 people looked to obama to be their salvation. now people are looking to the conservatives to produce a “messiah” (so to speak) take an example from that and apply it to how you should feel about moshiach. obviously that doesnt fill the need for the “i believe he is coming next minute” but its a start.
or…for bayis shlishi…the world trade center. 10 years ago the towers fell and the WTC was destroyed, and i can tell you that i felt anticipation and pride and a desire to see it rebuilt. when i realized how i felt about WTC i applied it to how i should feel about moshiach and bayis shlishi. it works. it gives me a perspective of what it means to have something great destroyed and then rebuilt. stuff like that happens all teh time. ive had some who disagreed with this method, but it works for me so hey…there you go.
bombmaniacParticipantfirst of all because learning torah is worthwhile in and of itself. doesnt matter what part of tha torah. second of all how will you know what to do when moshiach comes if you dont learn the “irrelevant” stuff
bombmaniacParticipantwhat they said

bombmaniacParticipantIM NOT DEFENDING IT
do i have to say it again?! IM NOT defending atheism. you wanna know how it works? thans how it works. youre frum becuase atheism makes no sense to you. skoyach. same here. im explaining their side. stop saying im defending it.

are you chabad?
bombmaniacParticipantpush it gently if you feel her pushing back then back off.
bombmaniacParticipantrikki: im not condoning atheism im explaining it as i understand it. if someone finds our explanation unsatisfactory for whatever reason they go to something else. does it necessarily explain everything? no. but it gives them hope that their questions will be answere. every atheist has a different reason why they find religion unsatisfactory…and yes i read permission to believe. notice he never says that any of those chapters prove the existence of god…its an indication which leads you to emuna.
“if you have questions and believe anyway without reason you are a fool not a ma’min”
they say the same of us. they think were deluded idiots who stick our fingers in our ears and disregard science to perpetuate our delusions. in order to combat atheism you need to really understand their standpoint. im not condoning it at all, im explaining it.
if religion was so ironclad then there wouldnt be atheists. if hashem’s existence were emperically proven there would be no bechira. were all given a choice…we chose frumkiet others choose atheism or other religions. you dont have to like it…thats how it is.
on teh subject of torah vs. science, the argument is almost moot. belief in god allows a variable which science does not. for example the age of teh universe is determined by determining the speed of universal expansion. assuming you want to use the bing bang theory then using that speed you can extrapolate the precise point and tine of origination. allow god as a variable and that inital propulsion is no longer necessary to generate the speed that we observe in cosmic shifts. it could all have been set in motion meaning that the universe could in fact be a lot younger than science believes. thats just one example.
as far as im concerned debates with atheists about the actual existence of god is pointless. heres teh debate ion a nutshell.
“god is a delusion”
“then how do you explain x y and z”
“with a b and c”
“but where did it all come from”
“science will find out”
“we know god did it”
“maybe it was the flying spaghetti monster”
and so on and so forth until both sides either agree to disagree or then end up insulting each other. of someone is takeh an atheist…then leave them alone unless they ask you for help. it isnt worth it and youre wasting your time and energy.
bombmaniacParticipantyup. i know im not perfect and its something i need to work on.
bombmaniacParticipanti dont think you really understand how much people are invested in their online personas. so many people have specific reasons why they are online and their online personas are built around that. when you offend that, you offend them and it could be even worse than in real life because like i said many times their online personas are the vulnerabilities which they would never expose IRL but feel comfortable exposing online.
for example. if you have someone who suffers from depression but doesnt tell anyone IRl then comes online and someone offends him, it could drive that person to suicide because they invested their deepest feelings and emotions and vulnerabilities in their online persona, stuff which they never expose IRL, so when that gets attacked its the last straw. when you offend someone online you are offending a “alter ego” of somebody REAL sitting by a real computer in a real house. that person put their real feelings into their online world. be careful what you do with them. its not so pashut.
September 9, 2011 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm in reply to: For Princesseagle and anone who thinks "the grass is greener" out there #808813bombmaniacParticipant“IY”H one day my goal is to open up a school that concentrates on the love of Hashem, the love and excitement of Judaism, simcha, and a place where there is acceptence and seeing each student as a neshama with a life of growth ahead.”
chassidus…in a nutshell.
bombmaniacParticipantwell look at it from an objective standpoint. we have questions that we cant answer so we place our faith in god. they have questions they cant answer so they place their faith in science and time. that time will reveal the science behind it all. to quote shmuley boteach (and im not a supporter i just really liked this line he used) “the only difference is that our “God” has 3 letters in his name and their’s has 4″ (time…for those of you who didnt get it)
so we look at the world and we look at the torah and we choose the torah for whatever reason each of us has emuna (in varies from person to person) an atheist looks at the world and looks at the torah…sees gaps…(which judaism explains as “its hashem’s cheshbon, we dont or cant understand it) and turns to science. insteead of acknowledging that humanity will never know everything they have faith that in time science will out. so yeah…thats how you get atheists…that and its usually predicated on tzadik v;ra lo rasha v;tov lo or some variant (the world is so unjust that there couldnt possibly be a god to which i usually respond “what if there is a god and he just hates you” always fun to see the reactions)
agnostics want to believe in something but they just cant reconcile their differences with religion so theyre left in limbo picking and choosing from whatever they like. then you have gnostic atheists who unlike regular atheists who belive in no god, believe that there IS no god. theres a subtle difference. agnostic atheists think that the subject of god is irrelevant…they dont believe in god even if he does exist. gnostic atheists believe that there IS NO god. or as christopher hitchins put it…”antitheist”
im rambling…
bombmaniacParticipantlol i dont get paid for everything i write nor do i submit everything i write. a lot of teh stuff i post here isnt ever submitted for publication…i just love you all so much so i insist on imposing my garbage upon all of you 😛 and idk if Ami can really be called “paying” they pay well…10 cents a word…but it took two months until i got the check…2 months, 14 phone calls and an angry email 🙂
earlier this week i sunk to a new low. i took every article that Ami ever rejected and sent it to Jewish Press. THAT i did because i want to ghet paid! i dont like the jewish press…
