    In my experience with the legal fireworks, they are small sparklers that are actually pretty safe as long as you stand 10 feet back. Keep in mind that anything that is legal is regulated, so they cant be too dangerous. The stories you hear of people blowing of limbs, are people who drive to the south to buy the big ones that shoot really high. I have used these and they have a longer fuse line so that you can stay a safe distance from them. A lot of the injuries come from people setting them off while they are impaired.

    With regards to seatbelt laws, its not about the attitude of “don’t tell me what to do” that people were against it. As a free country, laws should be put in place that protect society; I.E. speed limits etc. but someone not wearing a seatbelt doesn’t affect anyone but himself, many people believe the country doesn’t have a right to mandate what someone must do in their own personal life and they feel like its a breach of their freedoms.
