I think people should be free to choose where they will live regardless of how they are being supported.

No, the Ba’al Shem & Chassidim (at least the way the Gaon saw it) advocated the abrogation of your personal responsibility to learn Torah, claimed they were capable of independently making Nissim, and placed the Rebbe on the level of a god (lower case).

Not that any of this is currently true (with minor exceptions), but the claims are way worse then you would think.

The reason that this isn’t currenly the case is because of the efforts of the Vilna Gaon.

We definitely should help people live longer, even if the cause of their illness is their own vices. But, why should the rest of us pay for this? Hence, the gov. wants to keep raising taxes on cigarettes. Let them at least pay partly for their future medical care!

But this money isn’t being set aside for tobacco related illnesses, it is just being collected because as a society we have been conditioned to believe that smokers are evil and we can punish them in order to convince them to stop smoking.

The difference is that Sarah was already a gedolah before the 10 year count started. If she gave birth to Yitzchok at 90 and Yishmael was 13 years older than him Sarah was about 77 when hagar conceived which would have been at the end of the 10th year when Sarah gave Hagar to Avraham. If this is true then Sarah started counting at 67.

No, Sarai started counting at 65 when she entered Cannan. She gave Hagar to Avrum when she was 75 and Yishmael was born when she was 76 and had his Bris when she was 89.

She’s probably better off without the bum.

The government isn’t interested in eliminating smoking. They only want a slight decrease to prove to the public that they are doing something about it. If they were interested in eliminating smoking they could make it illegal to add nicotine and only make nicotine available with a prescription.

they say the ones without a hechsher are no good

The packages with and without the labels are under the same hechsher.

Is it really? Do you have a cite for that? I was under the impression that they make the (same) syrup for everyone in the world.

Mexico heavily taxes corn syrup sweetened drinks.

That being the case, should we all not emulate many of their upstanding and original practices? I submit that wearing peyos as they do (and the Chasidim have emulated) is how Moshe Rabbeinu had. And what a zchus it would be for us all to emulate.

Whay do you assume that there ever was only one set of “original practices”? Just because the Parsha coloring sheets depict Moshe with long peyos doesn’t mean that’s what he had.

I had a classmate whose second name was more “jewish” than his first name. Any teacher who called him by his second name only was simply ignored. It didn’t take long for the teachers to start calling him by his full name.

Go to your borough hall and get a copy of the issued permits for the lot in question. It’s not cheap.

If someone were to call 311 (I don’t know if it is allowed) than the city will check if it is legal but they won’t tell the caller the result of their investigation.

“Texting is a bit harder to eradicate. Its like a phone today, just more addictive.”

Texting is easy to stop if you are the account holder, just call your service provider and tell them to put a block on text messages. I did this on my own phone so that people would have call me if they wanted someting.

No. You can only have a car towed if it is on your property. For cars parked on the street, only the police can have it towed.

Here’s my theory to explain why many have the preceptipn that CS lasts longer than CY. The people who buy CS usually buy it from supermarkets and those who buy CY get it at grocery stores. The drivers who deliver to grocery stores have many smaller deliveries and being that they have less time per delivery (sometimes delivery is before the store is even opened) the milk may not be under constant refrigeration. Supermarkets generally require the driver to actually deliver the milk to their refrigerator and sometimes the shelves are stocked by manufacturer’s employees and not store employees.

Grocery stores and supermarkets have completely different business models and my experiance with kosher supermarkets is that they are often run like supergroceries

A minor child does not have to pay for their damages. A married woman is obligated to pay for damages but if she doesn’t have any assets, it is not collectable. The father or husband has no obligaion to pay for damages.

It depends if this happens at the state level or the federal level. In the state elections you don’t vote or individual candidates, you vote for the ticket so Y and B win the state vote. If this happen at the federal level it gets complicated. Since non of the candidates for president got a majority a second round of voting takes place in the House of Representitives and A becomes the Vice President
