einstein has a website?
i thought he was niftar.
does elvis have a website?
It’s not fair to ask a question that the mods won’t let me answer.
September 14, 2011 3:12 am at 3:12 am in reply to: How to search for assets/bank accounts of a deceased childless relative? #809743bezalelParticipantAFAIK banks are required to contact their depositors at least once a year. If no corespondance came from the banks, the funds should have already been turned over to the state as unclaimed funds.
bezalelParticipantI think the quality of kitchen aid has gone down and they don’t make them like they use to.
They still make some of them like they used to but in addition they make more models that look exactly like the old ones with weaker motors. I think the decline started when Whirlpool aquired the KitchenAid brand from Hobart.
August 26, 2011 4:28 am at 4:28 am in reply to: Does anyone know the answer to this question? #802184bezalelParticipantyeshivaguy I know its a kzayis. WHat I meant is HOW MUCH DOES a KAZAIS weigh?
A Kezayis is a measurement of volume, not weight.
bezalelParticipantI’d like to add that in general lactose is generally not good to consume before or during excersize but cocoa is good. As a result many energy bar manufacturer’s look for parve chocolate for their bars. Kashering dairy chocolate equipment back to parve is complicated, particularly because putting water in the machines can damage them. As a result there are many products made with dark chocolate that are labeled dairy whose manufacturer’s claim are lactose free. Any questions regarding a specific product’s dairy status should be directed to the kashruth agency certifying that product.
bezalelParticipantCliff bars are certified as dairy but they claim that the reason is because the chocolate chips that they use are made in dairy factory. I’d suggest that you contact the Chof-K to verify this for yourself.
CLIF BARs are Kosher Dairy. There are no dairy products in our bars; however, the vendor we purchase our non-dairy chocolate chips from makes chips containing dairy in the same building.
bezalelParticipantIs it a state that touches one of the Great Lakes?
8 states touch the great lakes.
MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, PA, NY.
So not telling
But only 5 of them touch one of the Great Lakes, the rest of them touch multiple lakes.
August 14, 2011 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm in reply to: Where can one find out who finances a specific organization? #798081bezalelParticipantJust to follow up, there is no public record as to where an organization gets it’s funding from. If you suspect that they get it from a specific source, you can investigate that source to see whether thay gave funds to that organization.
Your best bet is to get their 990 and do a web search on the names you find, it won’t nessasarily tell you who funds them but You’ll get an idea who they’re associated with.
August 14, 2011 6:57 am at 6:57 am in reply to: Where can one find out who finances a specific organization? #798076bezalelParticipantSorry, it’s not public record.
bezalelParticipantMonday August 8, 2011: DJIA closed down 634.76 – adding up all the digits equals 26.
Tuesday August 9, 2011: DJIA closed up 429.92 – adding up all the digits equals 26.
Wednesday August 10, 2011: DJIA closed down 519.83 – adding up all the digits equals 26.
The odds are far better than one in trillions (it’s even better than one in a million). What is even rarer is for the DJIA to close 3 consecutive days at 634.76, 429.92, and 519.83.
In Hebrew, the word for G-d, or Y- followed by -H followed by -V and followed by -H, also has a numerical value of 26….
Coincidence…..?
I got 1116. Y=700,H=8,V=400,H=8
Coincidentally, (or perhaps not), in the English language, the word G-d, when assigning values of 1 to A, 2 to B, 3 to C and so forth…., also has a numerical of 26!!!!!
I got 11 (or 71 when I replaced the hypen with an O).
bezalelParticipantand neither is the half and half milk- only the skim and regular are cholov yisroel!
As far as I know there are no producers of CY half and half serving the east coast.
spoke to KOA (R’ Issacson) he said that they are working on making it kosher, should be ready within a week. he said that everything but the donuts will be chalav yisrael.
That would require either that DD is allowing Lakewood to drop half and half from their offerings or that they are managing to get CY half and half.
bezalelParticipantHere, he store was giving you 11 ounces free. They will only get reimbursed for 48 oz. from the gov’t.
The government pays more for 48 ounces than I pay for 64 ounces.
I was once in a store and saw that the most expensive eggs were the medium size. When I asked the manager about the pricing he told me that almost all medium eggs are sold under thw WIC program so he charges the maximum allowed price, for the other sizes he had competitive prices.
bezalelParticipantYou can make Kiddush on bread on Shabbos and not worry about the sugar in grape juice
But the OP was asking about the seder when you cannot make kiddush on bread. (I don’t think you can use matzah either but I haven’t asked my LOR.)
bezalelParticipantand was wearing a baseball cap. from YWN.
How do I get a YWN baseball cap?
bezalelParticipantMods,
You allow a link to urbandictionary but wouldn’t let my links to chabad through? (See the thread starting with post 222758)
bezalelParticipantit just seems so deceitful, so dishonest, so wrong.
Yes, yes, and yes. You can also add the words “illegal” and “fraud”.
bezalelParticipantNot every sockpuppet is Joseph.
August 11, 2011 7:42 pm at 7:42 pm in reply to: The Great Debate: Ultra-Orthodoxy vs. Modern Orthodoxy #798556bezalelParticipantLet’s just remember the rule to keep this thread ONLY for the selected participants of the debate (and the mods if very minimally necessary)
Since when do you make the CR rules? To the best of my knowledge I can respond to any non-closed thread (including this one).
bezalelParticipantWalked in today and they told me it’s going kosher tomorrow. I asked them if they know the name of the rabbi who is certifying it, and they told me “Issacson.” Guess they mean the KOA? I assume there’ll be a sign up tomorrow so we’ll know for sure.
He also gives the hechsher to the DD in Airmont (Monsey).
bezalelParticipantIt only works thay way by mormons.
bezalelParticipantThe question is who are the articulate, mature rightys?
Bar Shattya and Joseph.
bezalelParticipantShikchah also can’t be done lishmah.
bezalelParticipantme thinks you need english lessons…..
Don’t you mean Latin?
bezalelParticipantI was talking from a kashrus point of view. Meaning that there aren’t many sheilos once you determine that they are only sending the kosher products to that specific DD. I don’t know their internal corporate politics and I am sure you are correct.
That is correct. Once a location is given permission to become kosher, they follow the kosher protocals already setup at the corporate level.
bezalelParticipantso if I give you five dollars and then ask for it back you would give it to me (even though you don’t want to)?
I’d suggest that you try it and see what happens.
bezalelParticipantbut then he’ll have my name and I wouldn’t want that
You already know his name so him knowing yours would be fair.
bezalelParticipantIn general DD is very easy to be machshir because they don’t make anything in the store, they get everything from the distributor (even the egg patties come ready made and refrigerated, they just microwave them). All you have to do is make sure that only the kosher items are in a particular DD’s inventory, keep the list updated, and you have a kosher DD.
Actually is quite difficult to get DD to allow a franchise to become kosher. DD wants consistancy among their locations and becoming kosher messes with their menu.
bezalelParticipantTradition is a sufficient answer to your question.
If you would have bothered to read the OP you would have seen that tradition is not a sufficient answer. Tradition by itself is never sufficiant, it needs to based on something else.
bezalelParticipantI don’t remember where – and I have no idea if it did or didn’t get built
Brigham Young University Jerusalem Center is on Mount Scopus.
bezalelParticipantHave you tried contacting Ms. Wang?
bezalelParticipantSo what’s wrong with the person making kiddush?
Accoring to some poskim kiddush must be b’mokom seudah.
bezalelParticipant?no? ?o? ?x?? ??? ????o? ll?? ???? pu? /?o??u?op?p?sdn?d??????//:d??? o? o? ?sn?
bezalelParticipantThere is a known bug that each of your posts that haven’t been approved yet appear as 2 posts for you but don’t appear for anyone else.
It seems to be more complicated. Every post that I responded to seems to be off by one regardless of whether there are posts awaiting approval.
bezalelParticipantHuh? Check your siddur, Ani Maamin, # 12.
Awaiting and expecting are not the same thing.
bezalelParticipant1. There is a time limit (I think 30 minutes but am not sure) and once edited it goes back to moderation for approval.
2. Once posts are approved they get bumped to the top.
3. There is a known bug that each of your posts that haven’t been approved yet appear as 2 posts for you but don’t appear for anyone else.
bezalelParticipantPay in lieu of notice is not the same as severance pay.
July 19, 2011 7:42 pm at 7:42 pm in reply to: How can I view the profile of another YWN user? #787428bezalelParticipantThere’s no place for an email address in the profile. I think they do this to address possible tznius concerns.
Tznius is like the Commerce Clause.
bezalelParticipantIs it your contention then that someone who “properly” says Ashrei (however that’s defined) is immune from mental illness resulting in suicide?
I thought we were excluding cases of mental illness.
bezalelParticipantIf your car is what gives you happiness, you are materialistic.
So if someting useful gives you happiness you are materialistic?
bezalelParticipantDr. P: You should’ve refused to pay the gratuity. Especially if there was no previous indication it was mandatory.
I did that once. Luckily I had the correct change at the time. (I usually don’t carry nickels and pennies due to their value/weight ratio.)
bezalelParticipantThe information I’ve seen only lists Italy.
bezalelParticipantWhy should they be insulted if they know that they use Kulos that you don’t use.
bezalelParticipantVideo cards usually go into an X16 slot. Other cards that don’t use as bandwidth will go in an X8, X4, X2, or X1 slot. X8, X4, and X2 card and slots are not common on consumer PCs. If you had a card X2 or wider, you can always but it in any larger slot (in your case the X16 slot).
bezalelParticipantThere are stores-companies that have amazing return policies, like – “any reason, anytime” (Lands End for example). Now would it be considered taking advantage of the policy if one is to return an item to get a new size, or just to get a new one… Or, is the policy truly any reason anytime?
It is impotant to read the actual policy when deciding to make a return. I had a Lands End shirt that after 6 years was getting worn through on the sleeves so I decided that I would exchange it. When I read the actual policy:
If you’re not satisfied with any item, simply return it to us at any time for an exchange or refund of its purchase price.
I realizied that the shirt had exceeded my expectations and I was actually satisfied with it. I did not go through with the exchange.
bezalelParticipantCyberspace.
bezalelParticipantLook for post # 104716.
You can’t take credit for that post, it was written by Moderator-80 (see post 104753 for more info).
bezalelParticipantDoes anybody know where that line is from?
I was going to link to HTSTI but someone there frogot to pay the bills.
bezalelParticipant1000 things??? Things like “do the laundry” don’t belong on bucket lists.
bezalelParticipantIt is cheaper to buy than to make based upon Cholov Yisroel or Cholov Akum brand prices?
Both. But it is a great summertime project for kids.
If you make frozen yogurt you can save money (especially if you also have a yogurt maker*).
*Making yogurt is not a great kids project.
bezalelParticipantWhy can’t you ask us?
You’re already taking calculus?
