Dear Just Smile
Yes, there is something VERY wrong with “double dating.” Unless the first girl he went out with was totally not for him, and he realized right away that it was a waste of time to pursue it any further, it should not be done.
Can you explain how in the world the boy will not compare the two girls to each other??
When a boy goes out on a date, he should be concentrating on “ideals” and how he wants to lead his married life. If the girl is of the same mindset as him, than you “go for it” (or go further depeding on where the dating process is holding).
berlinerParticipantI know of a case where the parents were adamantly opposed to the shidduch that their child wanted. The parents tried to persuade the child not to go ahead with the shidduch. When the parents saw that the child was totally committed and would not back down, the father went with the child to Rav Chaim Kanievsky and asked Rav Chaim for his eitzah. Rav Chaim gave his eitzah (to let the child do what he felt was right – even though to the average JOE it would have seemed perfectly reasonable to agree with the parents) and the parents went along with the child’s wish……….
and they happily ever after!
berlinerParticipantLet this be another cause that brings achdus amongst all walks of Judaism and let us all pray for their safety. It is safe to think they did not ever know that they were transporting drugs….and believe me…. if they knew, they already did teshuva and will never get caught up in this kind of situation again!
