proud tatty: Sorry No comparison, Chillul Shabbos is Chillul Shabbos.

    End of discussion!

However a comfortable atmosphere etc.. is up to the type

of background one comes from. Perhaps you dont mind eat in a pizza shop

with women sitting at the next table, there may be someone who is only

comfortable with a mechitza! or maybe your ok dining in a restaurant while

only CNN is played on large tv screens above, while someone is not.

therefore “dd” makes a good point!

If there is questionable attire/behavior, let the Hechsher make it known

so those Yirei Shomayim, know to stay away!

In my humble opinion, I think it’s two seperate things.

It’s definitely up the the rav hamachshir if he doesn’t want to

give his Hechsher to a place that has waitresses dressed inappropriately.

    Especially a more respected hechsher.

However, I think that it has nothing to do with the kashrus of the food.

    (rather the place)

The hechsher should let it be known publicly that

it is only on the food & not the atmosphere.

Just like the caterers write that the booze & alcohol

at certain simchas is not included in their hechsher.

I think there should be two seperate ratings systems.

    1)kashrus of the food.

    2)Kashrus of the atmosphere.

Like this Ehrliche people would be forewarned

not to go eat out (alone or with family)

    where they dont feel comfortable.

The young wild ones of our generation who are still eating

kosher, but not on the level, should not be deprived of a hechsher.

I just reminded myself of a funny story that happened to a

friend of mine, so he was on this date and they were discussing

many topics (like in the CR)and one was the shidduch crises,

they were talking bout how there’s many girla perfectly normal

who mamish dont get offers for months at a time, & how there’s

many more girls then boys etc.. so the after some more of this

he sighed saying, nu, what’re you gonna do? (rhetorically)

and she answered.. “Nothing!” (in a monotonous voice.)

(I still remember the way he said it)

He thought she didn’t chap but later on in a different

conversation he also made the same remark

nu, what’re you gonna do? & she replied again.. “Nothing!”

He thought it was hilarious & told me later.

Till today we joke around & whenever one of us says

    well..what’re you gonna do?

The other replies a monotonous “Nothing!”

There’s a small booklet circulating with a few kapitlach Tehilim &

a special tefillah for the three Bochurim that were H”Y imprisoned.

I pick one up from a local satmar shul.

it’s free. you can put it in your siddur (fits in any siddur)like by olienu,

So one can remember everyday to have them in mind.

or you can just jot their names down on a post it

& insert into your siddur so you never forget to have them in mind.

I agree with your point that was reiterated by

however I have another theory that answers both questions,

perhaps he really was born in the U.S. but wanted to keep the muslim

    for political & other reasons.

So he paid whatever amount (the guy is loaded anyhow)

So he could play both sides.

I figured since the economy is shot we could use this one,

although famous enough that all of have heard it before.

“A penny saved is a penny earned.”

    – Benjamin Franklin

Here are some of my favorite quotes by Benjamin Franklin.

He that falls in love with himself will have no rivals.

Beware of the young doctor and the old barber.

God heals, and the doctor takes the fees.

A slip of the foot you may soon recover, but a slip of the tongue

    you may never get over.

All would live long, but none would be old.

Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

I am in the prime of senility.

Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place,

    but far more difficult still,

to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten,

either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing.

Now about the girl losing her shoe at the revolving lounge story,

I dated a girl who told me this story happened to her friend.

    this was way back!!

I’ve repeated it on dates & actually made an investigation with one girl during a date,

(I hope she doesn’t see this) we came to the conclusion that it’s highly unlikely if at all possible.

She would have to swing it off with force sending it whirling off the area

& have a waitresses kick it around like a soccer ball till it made its way off the
