Bais Yaakov maydelParticipant
probably lol.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti dont think thats the general perception
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantyashrus20, do you want more dessert-oriented cookbooks?
cuz theres a great one called Last Licks, An Assortment of Desserts Presented By —-High School for Girls. by Morris Press Cookbooks.
its really excellent.
and i think someone mentioned it but theres also “The Haimishe Kitchen” there are 3 of them. just found them lying around lol hashgachas Hashem
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantjust a side thing: thats what theyre calling not bailing out the auto industry–its playing russian roulette with the economy.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipant“he said it is a myth about sun being dangerous.” tell that to all the skin cancer victims r’l and their families. or john mccain.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantTorahis1: im saddened that you think that rabbonim/rebbeim actually get “smashed” up on Purim. ive seen enough rebbeim/rabbonim drinking on Purim to tell you that when they drink, they absolutely DO NOT get “smashed”–they are just VERY happy, to the point where “ad bli dai”–but they know their limits. you can say the talmidim TAKE the fact that their rebbeim are drinking and use it as an excuse to go on a drinking binge, without limits–but the REBBEIM limit themeselves. they fail to see this, or they ignore it.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantbklyn19: who says theres one moderator for all topics?? they probably split it up—hey i get that topic–no i do i called it first–that one seems interesting let me grab it before anyone else does…..lol.
and for those pertaining to only men or only women, they give accordingly.
i see no reason why girls/women shudnt be able to moderate.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantc’v im highly insulted, yashrus20. but youre absolutely right about the first two lines of your post. i think mdlevine is in the process of creating a “tehillim project” for ppl in the coffeeroom. its one of the topics, you can check it out.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantyou can always reflect on the classic “ayzehu ashir–hasameach b’chelko”
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwhy is this gender-biased??
has anyone ever thought that maybe, just maybe, a girl can be a moderator??
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti dont know what goes on in mesivtas, but from what i hear from my 3 brothers, its better to let them just have “kosher” cellphones i.e. no texting, no camera, no internet, no music… i know that many batei midrashim roshei yeshiva look at boys phones, what does the CR think about THAT?
December 7, 2008 4:52 am at 4:52 am in reply to: The Yetzer Hara of Bitul Zman – Online – Internet Addiction? #1076956Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantmake time limits. ex: i only go on at night. so it seems like i have no life because every morning my name is by almost every post as “last poster” but really, i just post on them at night all at once 🙂
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantgalina in boro park……..i think 48th and 17th, something like that…718 438 0231.
shes great
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantlike feivel said, take a look at this book, “praying with fire.” im on my second round of reading it–maybe 5 minutes a night, and it really puts things into perspective.
im constantly having a hard time with davening, but this book really clarifies things and makes it so much easier to daven without a “how fast can i finish” or “i shudve slept late today”….now its, “take your time, this is your chance to build your relationship with Hashem!!” and “i cant believe i overslept”….it starts to become an integral part of you–we take it for granted that we dont have to daven minyan 🙂
hatzlacha raba and GL
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantasdfghjkl: i noticed 🙂
jewess: i was being sarcastic, i was trying to convey the childish message of how i thought rollerblading was “uncool” in the 8th grade. lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantim confused, is there something meaningful that will be added to our lives by knowing who the moderators are??
i highly doubt it.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantgreat idea, this is what using the internet l’tova means 🙂
let us know
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti think something for girls/women to do (who either dont have time or dont know how to bake challos) is to learn hilchos shmiras halashon!!
i started learning the chofetz chaim, a daily companion evry night 2 years ago….its 2 minutes per night, i think its something we all could use as a segulah.
we would never even listen to something bad that someone says about a brother or sister of ours…we wud say you have the wrong person…nope, not my sibling…i think you got the info wrong….WE HAVTA TREAT EVRY JEW LIKE A BROTHER OR SISTER and refuse to speak/listen to/accept Loshon hora about them!
i feel this is so important…sinas chinam, which is caused THROUGH loshon hora, destroyed the Bais HaMikdash!! that mean the only way to bring Moshiach and Bais Shlishi is to have the opposite, which is ahavas chinam, brought about by Jews like you and me who strive to keep hilchos shmiras halashon.
in this zechus may we be zoche to bring Moshiach bimheira biyameinu.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanthalevai
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanttzippi: i was just thinking about how i havta take a look at that closed thread titled, “how YWCR is being taken over by BY girls”….i guess this is what youre referring to! lol im definitely with you on this one
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantyoure right, were getting way sidetracked here….
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantnot pashut: i think Joseph was referring to the teenage/adolescent boys that smoke because they think its cool, cuz it looks real sharp to be hanging out on ave J with a cigarette dangling out of his mouth.
i highly doubt that Joseph was implying that the rabbanim you mentioned were c’v baalei gaava.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantasdfghjkl: i love your enthusiasm. i dont think ive read more than a few sentences of yours that dont have !!!!!!! at the end 🙂
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantMARK TWAIN classics:
–“Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of congress; but I repeat myself.”
–One of the most striking differences between a cat and a lie is that a cat has only nine lives.
–“In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.”
–To cease smoking is the easiest thing I ever did. I ought to know, I’ve done it a thousand times.
–“It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not deserve them.”
–“The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.” (reminds me of the story of the little boy who goes to shul but duznt know how to daven, so he just talks to Hashem…this is better than any tefilah some ppl sadly just say by rote!)
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanttzippi: im presently a BY girl, even though my schools not an “official” bais yaakov… but anyway, thats what i hope to remain!
asdfghjkl: (that was fun, going across the keyboard…) i dont know if youve noticed, but pretty much the only times i post are at night NY time (but i remember you saying you were from ireland, what with the time difference and all, it probably in the middle of the day for you…)and when i decide to neglect my work…btw, if im as smart as you think i am, where would i have gotten it other than from BY? lol.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantsaid it perfectly, Joseph. another word for “cool”
December 4, 2008 3:56 am at 3:56 am in reply to: A mitzvah for an aveira? or at someone else’s expense? #626793Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantintellegent: i try, i try…e/t is true though im in a bais yaakov skwl (not officially, but we call oursleves a BY!) and i am a maydel 🙂
lol. but im still trying to see the funnyness in my posts…which one? in what way?
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantBYM, HOW DID YOU GUESS!
JAPP: it takes a jap to know one 🙂
im really kidding though, i take it as a compliment when ppl tell me im so “out-of-town” they never thought i was from flatbush lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantjewess: im a rollerblader too!
iit started in 5th grade…not too long ago…lol–i used to go evry single night no joke then in 8th grade i got too cool for rollerblading…now im back to “hot”–anyone who read my post about smoking will get this…i sound like im advertising my posts…maybe subconsciously i think im so brilliant, evryone should get a load of my wisdom….okay i should probably stop here….lol so is anyone else tired??
December 4, 2008 3:07 am at 3:07 am in reply to: You Know You’ve Been Spending Too Much Time in The YWN Coffee Room When…. #1119308Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantooh good one. that woud be me for now
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipant“esav soneh es yaakov”
tzippi: i would say call up your congressman or write a letter to your state senator.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanta few years ago (i must have been around 10 or something) my older brother, on purim, offered me a cigarette. of course i took one, it was so cool, all the older boys were doing it, and of course i half-killed myself cuz i choked on it…LOL (no joke, but im laughing now that i remember it)—but really, thats what it does, IT KILLS PEOPLE. but the temptation is very powerful. its like a modern-day avodah zora, along with all our other nisyonos that we cant seem to get enough of….
anyway the point of my little anecdote is to say, be sensitive to the fact that these boys have been watching their older brothers&friends hanging out on street corners and looking really, really cool. so i think what needs to be done is show these kids (some not kids, unfortunately) that “COOL” isnt always so good—amalek is known for their midah of kar/coldness, and mikreh/coincidence (Same loshon/shoresh). if we want to win amalek, we need to be HOT and go against their coldness….theres a medrash of amalek cooling bnei yisroel off…forgot how it goes…forgot how i ended up here….
hopefully it makes some sort of sense if you actually got to the end of this post…
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantdo i havta officially BAN you guys (shindy/will hill).
seriously though i wouldnt want any thread of mine becoming a hotbed of machlokes here take it somewhere else.
for the record, i checked will hills age on that thread, 28 i think. im not sure how pld you are shindy, im assuming older.
WELL BOTH OF YOU START ACTING LIKE IT
i dont wanna cause offense to anyone here and maybe i shouldnt even be saying this stuff cuz im not even near any of your ages, but sadly, i feel i have to.
Thanks

thanks
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantmontana?? lol i didnt think thered be a starbux all the way out there…jk welcome to the big apple
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwill hill: from tanach, or in general??
cuz here i am, killing myself thru every parsha lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantintellegent: thanks for the clarification–no wonder i get so many “whats oberlander???” lol.
and i agree with mw13: we all have the same, true lineage, and a common goal.
were all jews and proud of it
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantanon for this: it doesnt have to do with chanuka presents, when i wrote “in addition…” i meant “and heres an interesting fact that has to do with chaf hey kislev, when chanuka falls out.” lol. nothing to do really. just s/t i recently learned. 🙂
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantnoitallmr: it really goes: “money talks, but all mine ever says is good-bye.”
heres one that frustrated computer users will appreciate:

December 1, 2008 1:51 am at 1:51 am in reply to: Talking With Members of The Opposite Gender #662936Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantif only…
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantqa: i know of a group in brooklyn, but its mostly sephardi women that ares struggling with pants and short sleeves….but i figured “regular” frum women also need chizuk and encouragement from ppl just like them…anyway, i dont know your personal tznius status, but if you would like, tell me and i can get a number for women who want to join a group like this. or we kud just start our own
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwill hill: how about some specific parshios? or at least chumashim.
or any part of tanach
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantby “man’ i mean mature.
but youre right, Joseph, boys officially/legally/wtvr you wanna call it become men at 13.
congrats to wolf and bear inc. for finally realizing your manly status after 5 (boyish, im assuming) years. im waiting for that bracha…..
what is the basis or origin, btw, for giving brachos to others on their hebrew birthdays? anyone know?
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantin addition to giving presents being chukas hagoyim,
the 25th day of the month of December (whichever way you want to call it)
represents the day that Yosef HaTzaddik went to eshes potifar “laasos tzurcho ima”–this day was chaf hey/ the 25th of the month, and it was the day that the entire mitzrayim annually went to serve avodah zara (this is why potifar wasnt around).
so the 25th day is steeped in tumah since the days of mitzrayim.
it also says, if im not mistaken (and please correct me if i am), “Kihayom hazeh” in the passuk when it describes Yosef going to eshes potifar–“KiHa”=chaf hey=25
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipant“If you are an old-dude embarrassed to state your old-age, feel free to pretend you missed this thread. We’ll even play along and wink at you, covering your tracks.”
didnt you say youd leave the oldies alone?
for once, us youngsters have something to be proud of
🙂 lol
however it would be nice to know how old some ppl REALLY are, not to make fun of but to make sure i know to whom my next comment is directed at, and to write accordingly
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwhat makes you think 18 is the man-turning age.
some ppl never reach that age.
but if you feel youve become a man at such a young age as 18, kol hakavod.
and mazal tov.
the gematria of 18=chai, may you live life to the best of your abilities.
p.s. is it your hebrew birthday? can i have a bracha??
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantand for those unfortunate enough to be graced by knowing you?
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipant“The cost of peace is war.”
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantadding to tzippi’s comment: the 4-inches-below-the-knee skirt might cover the knees when sitting normally, but if a girl crosses her legs, which most do very often, the skirt rides up and exposes the bottom knee (the one which is crossed over on by the other leg….hope that makes sense lol)
to WILL HILL and SHINDY,
none of you sound like Rebs/Rebetzins to me, based on both of your postings under this topic.
i asked once, but i dont mind asking again:
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS TOPIC AS A BATTLEGROUND, however trivial or (pathetically) even funny you may think it to be, I would really appreciate it. i do not want to be the cause of machlokes.
Thank you.
