intellegent, i assumed from your post that i offended you in some way but my last post was not directed towards you. is there something you found offensive in it, or are you just lacking in verbal sensitivity?

bklyn19: a bipolar person is still one person. he may have two different ways of acting i.e. one minute depressed the next on cloud 9, but he or she is still one person.

im sure thats what you meant, just clarifying

i dont understand why its so hard for some people to come to terms with their own superiority as a Jew! don’t you feel elevated when/if you’re on the subway, and you cant help but compare yourself to the TRASH that very often occupies the train?????????

maybe its too much american patriotism. ive known thta feeling once upon a time, but i got over it eventually bH.

i think we have to ask ourselves: are we american Jews or Jewish americans?

which is the ikar and which is the tafel?

im assuming you missed my post, brooklyner.

illini: thats not for me to decide, i was just stating my opinion, and you stated yours, and probably if i was in your place id be feeling put down as you described, but it’s a different view when you’re looking at it objectively. we can just agree to disagree.

and i respect that you had respect, even though bklyn is probably younger than you, to me thats a sign of maturity and graciousness. “bashing” was probably not the right word to use.

of course. when Hashem sees that our tefillos are lax because we’re doing well, He sends us “reminders” that really everything is in His hands and not ours. nothing is kochi v’otzem adi, and when we think that way and become too comfy with our lives, Hashem needs to let us know Who’s in charge.

the tragedy in Mumbai brought Jews of every stripe together. and it created ahavas Yisroel. it inspired many women to light Shabbos candles for the first time. obviously the ideal thing is to be able to have all this WITHOUT a tragedy calling for it, bimheira biyameinu.

bkyln19, apparently it’s being used more and more often, so be careful of which words you call “stupid” because the user of that word might be of a sensitive nature and get offended, because you would be implying that the user of that word is also stupid.

in general, i dont like the word stupid, it’s just a polite (if you can call it that) way of saying worse things. like a euphemism i guess

different for everyone, maybe i just gain and you dont, i dont mean that in a mean way, but maybe some people go on just to have fun, and some other people go on for other reasons, like gaining. in what way, thats different for every person as well. its subjective.

joseph: yes, there was a fire 2 nights ago in my house. Baruch Hashem, everyone got out OK, as i mentioned before i was up that late because of YWN CR. it was pretty scary, theres a lot of damage, but as i said, Baruch Hashem. it could have been worse.

ive read countless books on the Holocaust, and have always felt emotional about it, but when i was in Washington last year and visited the Holocaust Museum…it was beyond emotion. many people there were crying.

ive never been to Yad Vashem, i wish.

if anyone plans on going, and R’ Teller is speaking, I highly recommend you go with him. He’s spoken at my school a few times…hes great.

now that tzippi mentioned it, a great way of actually FEELING like you have an actual, real, solid relationship with Hashem is literally talking to Him, and it can 100% be in your own language if Hebrew is too hard. i had a hard time davening altogether, until i really started cultivating a relationship! like i have conversations. its an amazing thing, because Hashem is so imminent, and not transcendent, like many pre-Chassidists liked to think.

during Shema Koleinu, right before “Ki Ata Shomeia” and in Elokai Netzor, right before “Yihiyu L’Ratzon Imrei Phi…” (or right after your personal passuk, if you say it.

just ask Hashem for whatever you need/want.

and remember, Hashem always answers, but sometimes the answer is NO. think that over a bit, it took me awhile to come to terms with it.

    gl!

first, i would like to thank yashrus20 for providing me with an answer to the question on many applications and in interviews…what makes you unique and different from everyone else? lol jk but i appreciate the analysis of me. i have to say that it doesnt come naturally for me to live in “reality.” i had to work for it, and hard, and inspire myself, because no one was doing it for me. BH though, i go to an excellent school which provided tha basics for long-lasting inspiration. key words here being “long-lasting.”

i love the “heebeejeebee” description 🙂

maybe i shoudnt apply…its causing enough stress as it is lol

yashrus20 you put it perfectly. but it is also a “kosher” form of entertainment for BY girls.

    intellegent: im LOL.

Baruch Hashem, I can multi-task. good practice for the future iyH. 🙂

of course, there are times when i neglect to do my “homework”–i feel like a 2yr old lol.

and of course, the repercussions are pretty bad cuz i pretty much only post at night…and im usually up late just posting…and i wake up at 6:20…so it gets to the point where some nights i have to exercise extraordinary restraint…hasnt happened yet though.

but i would like to announce with gratitude to Hashem (sounds like an invitation lol)

that BECAUSE i am on YWN at late hours, i was up 2 nights ago when a fire burned down a good portion of our home. i really believe that Hashem introduced me to YWN just 2-3 weeks ago for this purpose. Hashem is always mashgiach aleinu, sometimes we see it and sometimes we dont.

and now i can announce that i dont think this is bitul zman. i gain tremendously and get to post my opinions on matters where i otherwise would have not had the same chance, as yashrus20 mentioned, and hopefully others gain from it.

bklyn19: ive pretty much made it clear that i dont condone any of the behavior diplayed by boys/men on Purim. if youll go back to the post you commented on, youll realize that i was merely attempting to clarify what squeak said, because my INITIAL reaction to anon’s “isnt it illegal…” was the same as squeak’s.

i hope this clarifies things for you and restores your “expectations” of me.

also, you mentioned that women are afraid of desserts…i think you meant to say that theyre afraid of THEMSELVES when theyre near dessert. they dont want to be tempted.

and btw, try not to stereotype about women…because many if not most appreciate and love food they just wont admit it!

squeak pretty much echoed my thoughts when i read anon’s “isnt it illegal…”

i think he meant that of course, we go according to the law but the Torah is Supreme and just because theres a law out there that says drinking alcohol when under the age of 21 is illegal, does that mean its a terrible thing to do and that we shouldnt try to keep a mitzvah of being b’simcha on purim?

unless the mitzvah doesnt specifically say to drink…butim not familiar with it.

i like the sponsorship program, but that can prove to be very limited b/c not every single Jew is wealthy and those that are sometimes dont support the kollel lifestyle.

but whats wrong with the wife going out and earning a living?? were not in the medieval ages anymore, and yes, it IS possible for mothers to juggle their domestic responsibilities and a job. of course, im not gonna be narrow minded and say this is the way that all women should do it. im just saying that if theres a wife/mother out there that can handle it, then why not?? its a perfect option for many (not all!)
