Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti was able to split up kuf yud tes among a few people because it’s very long but these people are no longer interested. any takers?
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantgood shabbos everyone and thanks to all for contributing
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantlol im practically fluent in arabic…no im just kidding but i catch phrases from one of my friends who legit speaks arabic…its interesting lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti actually just heard s/t interesting today…perek chaf tes in bereishis…yaakov was able to lift the huge stone off the well after 14 yrs of learning and no physical activities where three strong shepherds were unable to and had to wait for help. i think its the ramban that quotes the passuk in tehillim that says “kavei l’Hashem v’yachalifu lo koach.” or s/t similar to that. basically that even if someone is physically at his weakest point, if he just trusts in Hashem then he will be given a meta-physical strength to go on—so at someones weakest point, if they hold on for one more minute or day even though they think they cant handle it…then Hashem will bring a yeshua to them and they will receive the koach to continue to fight the yetzer hora
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantthe night is yet young, moishele. (that was so tempting i had to do that)
sorry syriansephardi i didnt yet read through every single dvar Torah that i missed over 3 weeks so i didnt see yours. but before you came along, i was the only girl lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti know what hazeet is lol got a lotta syrian friends.
and this one is even funnier it happened to my sister the guy took her to the wax museum and they decided to do the mini haunted house they have there. so my sisters like sure why not im not a lil kid anymore i wont be scared…
theyre walking and its nice and scary but in a kiddy kind of way until they get to a tiny room enough to hold maybe 5 ppl seriously and theres a wax figure standing there.
my sister goes right up to it, inches away, and says, wow it looks so real!!
well, it was real, and the guy jumoed out at her and without even thinking, she grabbed her date and just held on for a few seconds…he was shocked for a few seconds until my sister realized what she was doing and pushed him away…..they had a good laugh over that…
and they lived happily ever after 🙂
my brother-in-law now jokes that thats when he knew she was the one lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantmoish, the more the merrier. i wanna hear what you havta say
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantinteresting point moish about driving…though i personally know someone who considered it too un-yeshivish to drive, and he was “forced” to take drivers ed when he started dating. lol i think its kinda funny
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwell first it was an internet problem…then i was in a faraway place for 10 days with no computers let alone internet…then i got dragged back into school…it took awhile unfortunately, but BH here i am alive and well and posting and not realizing the time…
lol asdfghjkl, idk what i did before you were here, musta been really dull…
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantlol good one Joseph.
i heard s.t nice about E’Y recently…for all the ladies here…Hashem is being careful with all the rockets, they miss so many times (most times actually) by just inches; we should be careful with our inches too…
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantasdfghjkl, thanks!! good to be back
Joseph….no comment. lol. is that really true??
an open book: nice to meet you, welcome!
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti believe i just put in a nice little d’var Torah. i may be the only girl on this thread, but that doesn’t mean i cant fill in every now and then 🙂
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti know someone that was on a date, and when she got into the guys car, she realized he wasnt for her after a few minutes. She lives out of town, so she was telling him how to get wherever he wanted to take her in that area, so what she did was say, left her for a few blocks….another left for a few blocks…another left….they basically ended up in a circle and by her house–she tols him sorry i dont think itll work out and got out.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantsorry its from a few parshiyos back but then again i havent been here since a few parshios back! here goes.
“Behold–the people, the children of Israel are more numerous and stronger than we” (1:9). This passuk teaches us that when Jews act as one people, free of discord and strife, then the nations of the world see them as “more numerous and stronger” than themselves and realize that they cannot dominate the Yidden.
This can be compared to a father who invited all of his children to his home. When they arrived, he gathered them around him. The father had several thin identical twigs in his hand, and he gave one to each of his children and asked each child to break them, which they did easily.
The father then passed around a bundle of twigs tied together and asked them to break it, but none of them were able to. “You see,” the father said, “as long as you remain united in the same way that these branches are united, nobody will ever be able to harm you! But if you act divisively and there is disharmony among you, then be aware that a lone individual is as easily broken as a single thin twig.”
Bais Yaakov maydel – Thank you and welcome back! :o) YW Moderator-72
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantss: no i meant is there such a thing as someone being syrian but is ashkenaz as opposed to sephardi lol.
cuz i was noticing that your syriansephardi is the same thing repeated twice….
i can get very technical dont mind me
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantthis place is the best–i feel so good lol its taking a while catching up though with all the new conversations and new people!! to be honest, i missed e/o here!
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantnow that i made it back, i think ill push for a chairwoman’s vote.
i dont think i need to list my wide, varied and highly valid qualifications
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantsyriansephardi, im just curious: is there such a thing as someone being a syrian ashkenazi??
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwow i leave for 3 weeks and were already up to 1400!!!
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantglad to see i was missed 🙂
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantgo to cnn also they have a poll, click on the israeli flag, i believe its so far 47-israel and 53 palestine……..we can close the gap!!
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantj-matt….short sweet and to the point 🙂
yashrus…not as short but still sweet and to the point.
thanks to both of you.
a little early, but here’s something on parshas shemos:
“And Moshe stood up and saved them” (2:17)
The Torah tells us here how Moshe saved Tziporah, who at that time was a complete stranger. later on we read how measure for measure, Tziporah saved Moshe’s life (4:24-25). We see from this, says the Chofetz Chaim, that all the kindness that a person does for someone else is eventually repaid to him.
Whenever you do a favor for someone else, you benefit yourself. Definitely, the highest level is to do kindness for others for the sake of a mitzvah without thinking of personal gain. But whenever you find it difficult to do an act of chessed for others, at least do it for the reason that good things will occur to you in the future because of your act. When you are kind to others, they will be kinder to you. If not right away, then in time you will be repaid.

January 11, 2009 4:18 am at 4:18 am in reply to: What can WE do to contribute to Operation Cast Lead??? #631078Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwow thats such an amzaing idea
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantglad i could make you happy lol
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantbelle harbor is great i can attest to that–but its not in bklyn! (15-20 minute drive)the boardwalk is usually quiet, not a soul around…
dont get too far into the lower numbers though, not too safe
prospect park is safe depending on when you go
the whole world is on ocean pkwy or in marine park
NORMAL: anything below you is too modern, anything above you too frum, but YOU are perfectly “normal”
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti dont recall ever using the word “problem” or even implying it. you sound like you like to dramatize things.
im not trying to be a teacher here–im only two years older than you are.
just letting you know that there are other ways to BREATHE–as in, eyn Torah ella mayim–we cant live without Torah, the same way we cant live without water.
im sure you can understand that, from what ive read in your posts, youre not stupid.
you probably just dont wanna deal with this stuff.
and whatever i say wont help that.
so i think ill stop chattering away now like im some experienced expert or something…lol.
im getting carried away here, arent i…i cant stop typing.
someone help me.
whats with me?
probably cuz i have more to say…but its not so nice so i wont say it.
moish, i hope we can chat on more neutral topics in the future.
refuah shelaima
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantthank you, asdfghjkl.
one more:
Parshas Vayechi talks about right before Yaakov Avinu’s petirah–so why is it called vayechi? because Yaakov till today still lives through two things:
a) his children
b) his legacy
we still have that legacy and we are his children!
also, “tzadik lo mes”–he lives on
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantmaybe! hes coming home Pesach time…
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantthe key word here is “were,” as in, past tense.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwow typical dont-wanna-listen-to-anything-kiruv-oriented.
the name duznt always accurately tell what kinda person someone is. i could very well have been the same as you a while back…
just keep your mind open.
dont be so negative about things, like my post.
dont “expect” things–be ready to take things as they are.
you didnt answer my question.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanthow do you think i recognized asdf in that big yellow daffy ducks hat? it wasnt by checking guys out!
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantwanna get specific asd?
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantused to? it just came out a month ago.
i heard that its annoying to use because sometimes the touch doesnt actually register…so you kinda havta hit it a buncha times…
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanthave some seichel…the one i heard is that 09/11/01 backwards is 01/11/09.
that would be tomorrow, sunday.
January 11, 2009 2:41 am at 2:41 am in reply to: Posuk in Tz’fanya (Trei Asar) About Zman Moshiach #630897Bais Yaakov maydelParticipanti understand 1925 was a year when there was a birchas hachama…but did it fall out erev pesach?
and why would that be apikorsis?
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantone sec…backtracking for a little….are we comparing moish with Joseph? not possible…totally different.
Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantyou entertained that idea for a minute, because for a minute, you were actually interested, and probably went, well why not???
my question to you: why not??
leave your friends out of it for now–if they cant accept any actions you take, what kind of friends are they?
January 11, 2009 2:15 am at 2:15 am in reply to: You Know You’ve Been Spending Too Much Time in The YWN Coffee Room When…. #1119429Bais Yaakov maydelParticipantback to the original thread….
