beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Some people beleive brown eyes are more beautiful than blue. (I think it’s the Italians who always say a dirty blond haired + brown eyes are the perfect set.) Anyhow, MOST people think blue is the nicest. Personally, I like only a certain shade of blue. But I know many people with blue eyes that aren’t so nice looking, and I know many brown/green eyed people who are BEAUTIFUL. So, unless someone is OB with blue eyes, i really don’t see this becoming a very popular procedure that people would be spending their hard-earned money on.
BaalHaboozeParticipantIMHO you have nothing to be embarrassed about. It was a beautiful act and it deserves praise no doubt. However, it shows a lot about YOU as well! That this incident got you thinking, you posted, and started to make a personal account (cheshbon Hanefesh) about your behaviour and actions. If you took something good out of this, ashrechah, and kudos for getting US to think about what our reaction would have been!
BaalHaboozeParticipantPARSHAS VAYEIRA
Rav Tzodok HaKohen explains that it might appear to us that the tefillos of Avroham Avinu on behalf of the cities of Sedom and Amora were not answered. However Chaza”l say that no tefilla goes unanswered. Avrohom’s tefillos created the sparks from which Moshiach would one day come to the world and bring a true geula for all mankind. And, in fact, Lot, who was the forebear of Rus and eventually Moshiach ben Dovid, was rescued from the destruction of Sedom! But there is no such thing as a wasted tefilla. Every time we daven it affects and changes things. We might not see the result immediately, but we have to know that our tefillos are effective.
I once read (can’t remember where) about a man who gave a speech about the power of tefilla. It was about a month after R’ Shlomo Zalman Auerbach passed away and Klal Yisroel still felt its loss. “There are those of you who davened for R’ Auerbach’s recovery for many weeks. And some may think that perhaps it was a waste of time and nothing ever came of those tefillos. Afterall, he died. But for those of you who know me, know that I have been sick for many months and not until recently was I released from my regular hospital visits, and daily medications. Now I have a clean bill of health. How? Because my name is Shlomo Zalman ben Tzivia. The exact same name as R’Auerbach zt”l’s name. Now, it’s only a theory, and I cannot be conclusive, but PERHAPS many of your tefillos took an alternate route and ended up landing in MY lap, and saved Me.”
All tefillos are heard. All tefillos have results.
BaalHaboozeParticipantWho am I to advise? But you posted here in the CR and I will offer my humble opinion based on the info you provided. You can choose to comment or snicker or maybe even accept. Regardless, whatever you choose to do, may it be with help from Hashem.
In many cases of divorce, there is lack of communication. This leads to lack of understanding, and perception. When a husband and wife talk calmly and respectfully to each other it is the stepping stone for a happy marriage. But talk to each other. Talk calmly and discuss things. Never scream! even if one is angry, express your hurt calmly with control on your anger. If it is a parnassa issue, maybe discuss with a third party. Express what you are feeling and don’t ASSUME what the other partner was thinking. Don’t be shy or embarrassed to say I’m sorry if you hurt your spouses feelings or ego. there are so many misunderstandings in marriage because of lack of communication. And that means to listen to what the other is saying as well. Maybe, MAYBE DO something nice for her out of the ordinary. Buy her a small gift out of love. Go out for a bite. But then express yourself and talk how you want to try to fix the situation. Think and dwell on the love you had for each other by your wedding day, and hold onto those feelings. yes the kids need you both, but so do you two need each other. lastly, and perhaps most importantly, daven and don’t stop to daven.
I wish you both the very best and BE”H you should both be matzliach.
BaalHaboozeParticipant????? ?????? ???? ????? ????? ????????
BaalHaboozeParticipantYou can dance in BOTH circles, one at a time. First be mesameach the chosson, then go dance with them fellow members of your shul. One thing you don’t want – Don’t create any unnecessary controversy and enjoy the simcha with your shul friends. You can also try to pull in the father of the chosson (or kalla) into your shul circle once in a while!
Hatzlochah, and we should only hear of simchas in these hard times.
BaalHaboozeParticipantYears ago I learned in the Mir. So I remember when Rosh Hashana was around the corner, the gabboim were always busy and oisek in the tremendous project of making charts with set seats for all the 100’s and 100’s of Bnei Hayeshiva, for the the Yomim Nora’im davening. And it was a project that took sometimes weeks, filled with many suggestions, requests, and somtimes even many complaints. Sometimes it was a very heated topic that easily led to loud discussions and debates. When the R”Y addressed the bochurim once by a va’ad, he brought up this subject and remarked one simple remark. Yet, it aptly discribed who he was all about.
He said, “the only advantage I have sitting up front by the ‘Mizrach Vant’ is that I have the pleasure of looking out and seeing all your beautiful faces.”
We will miss you, R”Y. You were our Tatte away from home, our perfect rolemodel, and our source of everlasting chizzuk.
BaalHaboozeParticipantI began a similar thread a while ago, and the material girls learn in school STILL puzzles me. You can view the thread here:
Hatzlochah!
BaalHaboozeParticipantLike probably every talmid of the Rosh HaYeshiva, I cannot beleive what I have seen on the front page of YWN this morning. It took a few moments for me to exhale after reading those blazing words in the headlines. My eyes watered up and I am sad. Very, very sad. I remember his as one who lived every second in agony and pain from his parkinsons disease ever since I knew him. Yet, he pushed and pushed and pushed himself ??? ??? ???? to become this ULTIMATE tzaddik, this BEAUTIFUL and HAILIGE MALACH OF A MAN!
OY, WHO SUFFERED AS MUCH AS THAT MAN?! In his incomprehensibly weakened state he would constantly battle back with all his ??????, continuing to shteig in his learning, all the while showering us with love, words of wisdom, and a world of chizuk. It was a ???? to learn with him, or even to just watch him from the distance. He was a living mussar sefer walking among us. When you watched him, you took more than any other mussar sefer on the shelf has to offer! He was someone I will ALWAYS remember, someone I am proud to have known, and someone I will tell my children about with love and reverence.
BaalHaboozeParticipantHey Goq, my friend, you might be alone in a room right now, reading this on your computer and feeling kinda down, but you are SOOO not alone. We at the CR are ALWAYS here for you, and we all encourage you to get down and exercise!!I just spoke to my wife before and apologized for feeling down the past week, and told her it is because of lack of excercise. Moving and jumping makes me feel alive and happy, and strong. Yes, happy! Anyway I started an excercise routine last night and hope to continue. My advice is: 1) to make a chart/calander with a goal, and tic off EVERY DAY, till the goal is reached. Feels SOOO good!!! Don’t be discouraged. Don’t look at the long strech ahead. Forget about that for now. Look and focus what u need to do TODAY, and slowly slowly you’ll make it there.
2)Make a list of all healthy fruits/vegetables you enjoy eating. (Beleive it or not I enjoy only 3 vegetables, but my list for fruits is thankfully longer.)
3)Also get into the habit of drinking lotsa water!! It is the most refreshing, healthiest and safest. Best of luck to you!

BaalHaboozeParticipanthmmmm…..this is serious!!
I don’t know, maybe you should put money in for Rabbi Meir, Baal Haness or something. This is a problem of colossal proportions.
I don’t know what to say.
(sigh)kids.
BaalHaboozeParticipantBTGuy, well said! I especially can appreciate your line:” I dont know if shidduchim can be made into science as everyone is trying to do. It obviously creates a lot of anxiety and stress.”Boy can I relate.
After my 2 years in E”Y, I opted for a smaller yeshiva here in America, instead of BMG Lakewood. When my aunt heard this she immediately called my mother and told her (in a polite way) that THIS was not the way to go! She was so “upset” that I wasn’t learning in a more “run of the mill” yeshiva which “everyone” goes to, What’s gonna be with shidduchim…blalala.
B’kitzur, I was VERY matzliach, extremely happy, and got married shortly after.

BaalHaboozeParticipant….of which many of them were actually quite eerily similar to those odd characters in the stories….
BaalHaboozeParticipantthat’s what happens when you share the world with 7 billion other people! But more specifically, on ‘innzerer folk’, since the 80’s or 90’s there is a significantly larger jewish population nowadays. So there ARE so many singers, and some of them are VERY good. But I hear you. In the 90’s when Fried came out with albums such as Chazak or Hop Kazzak, or even Dedi (remember him?) I would RUN to buy their album. Not so anymore for any newbie. Now I’ll listen to them BEFORE I buy them.
BaalHaboozeParticipantYou BET, my friend,…let the beverages flooooooow!!!
Hey kap, can we get some kapusta for the oilom?
say, who’s in charge of the chulent?
BaalHaboozeParticipantthank you SINCERELY, Am yisroel chai!

BaalHaboozeParticipantAs they approached Mitzrayim, Avraham asked Sarah to claim that she was his sister. This was to protect him from the Egyptians who might lust after Sarah, and kill him if they were to know that he was her husband.
Why is it necessary for us to know that this discussion transpired as Avraham and Sarah drew close to their destination? Why, in fact, was an issue of such gravity not discussed prior to their departure from Eretz Canaan? The Midrash explains that as they neared their destination, Avraham became aware of Sarah’s exceptional beauty. Why is this the juncture where Avraham becomes aware of his wife’s beauty?
Mitzrayim was a country notorious for the immoral and lascivious behavior of its inhabitants. Generally, an individual living in such a society would be affected, even if he himself would not indulge in any perverse behavior. Perhaps the Torah is teaching us that although a tzaddik of Avraham’s caliber would not be dragged down by the immorality of the society where he lives, the influence of the society does have a subtle effect on him. In Avraham’s case, this manifested itself in his becoming aware of his wife’s beauty.
From Rabbi Zweig on the Parsha.
BaalHaboozeParticipantItchSrulik, interesting. I don’t have time to look that up now, but will look into that over Shabbos. Might it’s another case of Maasei ovos siman l’bonim, but I’m sure it’s a lot deeper than that.

BaalHaboozeParticipantyuuuuuum, supergirl, you are not alone! I LOVE anything hot and spicy, especially hot chips! But you better not make it an obsession, and seriously cut down. I mean 2-3 times a week is fine, but like anything, you must eat a balanced diet. Too much of junk food will either harm u, get you overweight, or both. Your health is so important, and eating really is something you have to put your mind to, and not just fress whatever u love without thinking. You should make an effort to include fruits and vegetables in your daily intake…
….OMG!!!! I sound like my mother!!…(*breaks down crying*) they said these things will happen when I’m 60 or 70, not 30!!…(sob,sob) ….
BaalHaboozeParticipant….decided to keep those fascinating legends, fables, and tales alive by sharing them with people who would appreciate its ingenious plots and mysterious characters. So they all swiftly logged into the Coffee Room of the YW website….
BaalHaboozeParticipantGee, ZeesKite, i don’t know what it means either, but tonight everyone coming in my direction was beeping me. EVERYONE! An’ there must have been 100’s of ’em! I couldn’t understand it, I mean, didn’t they KNOW it was a 1-Way Highway?????

BaalHaboozeParticipantWhoooooa!! Sorry, I didn’t respond so quickly to this thread yet. Other things more important came up (yes, even more important than these CR threads!)so I couldn’t respond yesterday. I apologize.
…..(pause)….alright, ALRIGHT, I admit, I intoxicated myself into a booze-induced 14 hour slumber early yesterday evening and was in LALA-Land till the morn! But that was the (ninty) FIRST time this ever happened to me.(cough, cough) Honest.
O.k….ahem…I…uh… hate to rain on your parade YT, and definitely hate to kill any thread and I DON’T want to disappoint anybody so I’ll go straight to the point. I am NOT a MAYVIN in drinks, I just like TO drink. Period. There I said it. Hey, who ever said you need to KNOW your booze to BE a BaalHabooze? 🙂 Kinda like sushi. Love ’em sushi, but for the love of G-D can never remember the names of them (Besides BaalHabooze is a cooler name then BaalHasushi, y’think?) Again, I’m sorry to disappoint anyone with hopes of a long drasha of technicalities of the makings or political stances of scotch. So you can put away your pens and notepads and perhaps a good idea would be to call up OU or any other Hashgacha Organization for the status of your favorite scotch.
I can say that I do drink Macallan (can still taste it on my lip, hehe). I was told some time ago that all the Glens shouldn’t be used, but I’m not SO particular, so I haven’t had any of those in a while. Otherwise, I CAN say that I love WINES best from all alcoholic beverages. tata…

bpt, you ARE a special person! To think of another yid’s tzar and plight is a great middah and is very praiseworthy. I think about tragedies sometimes but try not to dwell on it too much as I physically can’t stop my tears in certain situations(Why am I the only man crying sometimes by a levaya??). Agav, is it just me, but everytime I see 9:11 on my clock I think of Sept 11, 2001.
