avreimiParticipant
And Rebbitzen Goldenpickanicerscreenname you are such an onov.
avreimiParticipantA black man can’t stop being black and a Yid cannot stop being a Yid. Do any of those who suggest we Yidden only have ourselves to blame also suggest that blacks only have themselves to blame for racial attacks?
April 17, 2019 1:13 pm at 1:13 pm in reply to: How much did you pay for your hand shmura matza? #1716788avreimiParticipantI was in Osher Ad in Givat Shaul [next to Har Nof] today and they were selling Malchus Eida matzos for NIS 60 a kilo, that is about $7.60 per pound.
April 15, 2019 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm in reply to: Did YWN cave to pressure and remove a news item? #1715165avreimiParticipantNo one caved in. YWN simply listened to the park of the Rabbonim Shlita who said this terrible event should be cancelled for the good of Klal Yisroel. Who can have any quarrel with that? Surely the Rabbonim Shlita would also have liked to relax a little after a long and taxing zman but they are always first to consider he benefit if Klal Yisroel, B”H. We are so lucky to have such leaders Shlita.
avreimiParticipantAmong the Courts of many Chassidic Rebbes today, arranged marriages usually involve children who are required to marry for political, economic and dynastic reasons and the children involved are expected to be compliant.
avreimiParticipantI met two Sadigura Chassidim from Eretz Yisroel on Purim who say the Chassidim there are very concerned about their Rebbe’s health. ישראל משה בן ציפורה פייגא
avreimiParticipantI flew from Tel Aviv to JFK on Delta [in Econonmy] a few weeks ago and the food was Hamasbia with a hechsher of the Eida Charedis. Throughout the night [this flight is a red eye] kosher snacks were available. The Tuna rolls were also Eida [Parev] whilst the packaged snacks had an OU-D hechsher. I do not know if that is what they usually have but I imagine so.
avreimiParticipantGadolhadorah: you are right but two wrongs don’t make a right.
June 1, 2018 6:54 am at 6:54 am in reply to: Why do people think they could “trust themselves” with smartphones? #1530934avreimiParticipantI do not see any reference to a smartphone in the Torah. The Rambam does not refer to smartphones. As with virtually everything not specifically referenced in the Torah, there are chekei deios between the Poskim. I personally know several Rebbes and Rabbonim who have -unfiltered- smartphones, forget filtered ones. There is no clearly no issur d’oraisa involved here. Anyone who suggests otherwise is deluding himself and others.
April 19, 2018 8:15 am at 8:15 am in reply to: Getting a ride with someone from the opposite gender #1508668avreimiParticipantLet’s talk turkey here. All this talk about the yetzer hora and innocent encounters turning into something more sinister, just show how scared we are as a society. If you are talking about giving a pretty young lady [single or married] a ride, I hear what is being said but when a bubby is helped to get home faster with her shopping, the discussion is just ridiculous. Even with a pretty young lady, it really is a shame we always have to assume the worst, in terms of motive and outcome.
April 18, 2018 2:22 pm at 2:22 pm in reply to: Getting a ride with someone from the opposite gender #1508172avreimiParticipantIt is somewhat sad that we are so obsessed and scared of innocent relationships with the opposite gender. What about the positive mitzvah involved in helping someone? Isn’t that worth something?
December 31, 2017 6:27 am at 6:27 am in reply to: Keeping Mental Illness A Secret In Shidduchim🤕 🤒🤐👰🤵 #1439617avreimiParticipantPart of the issue is how we define “mental illness”. There are conditions which can be controlled with medication the same way as diabetes can be controlled with medication. However the minute the words “medication” or “mental illness” come out the boy or girl is doomed in most people’s minds. The same is not true of diabetes. Why does use of the word “medication” only seem to refer to mental health issues?

October 9, 2011 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm in reply to: Why I can't I just walk around with a shaved head? #818797avreimiParticipantMany chassidishe women shave their head after they are married; it is no urban legend. In some chassidusen it is left to the individual to decide but in others, Viznitz for example, all the women shave. This is often one of the first issues discussed in a chassidishe shidduch.
