The studies don’t say meat CAUSES colon cancer. It says that here is a correlation between those who have higher consumption of red meat tend to have more incidences of colorectal cancer (CRC). Correlation does not imply causation.
It’s like saying that eating ice cream causes drowning because in the months that we consume more ice cream there are more drownings. Or maybe it’s because we both consume ice cream snd swim when it’s warm out.
Instead of avoiding meat. Get scoped at 50 and make sure that if you have a family history than get scoped earlier.
CRC is a very slow growing cancer so if it’s caught early there are usually no issues.
Being that In the frum, ashkenazi community, women have a much higher risk of CRC so they should be scoped when their doctors recommend.
Delaying a scope can kill someone.
atlossParticipantSome vitamins have kosher sensitive ingredients or outright treif (gelatin) you need to ask a competent rav. Many rabbanim will matir it if medically necessary. Many vitamins are available in kosher.
Maxi health makes quality products. You need to be careful with supplaments that they’ are good quality and necessary. Taking to much can be harmful. Example excess of b range vitamins can cause an increase in the need for the other ones. Too much iron can cause GI upset. Too much vitamin a can cause hair loss.
There are a lot of examples but I will leave that up to your medical professional.
atlossParticipantIf she is a frum lady she will understand.
Just tell her that you and your wife discussed the matter and you felt it wasn’t ok.
If she asked one time when she was stuck- I hear.
But to ask a man for a ride to work every day is totally inappropriate.
She can bus or taxi. Or get a ride with someone else.
Do not through your shalom bayis and neshama out the window

October 12, 2015 10:06 pm at 10:06 pm in reply to: Is it wrong to secretly not want moshiach to come #1132614atlossParticipantI’m not going to judge anyone if you don’t want mashiach deep down.
But think about this( rabbi Brazil mentioned something similar to this idea and it’s based on what he said)
Go to petach tikva children hospital. Walk through the halls. Go to the oncology center. Look at the poor, sick, I innocent children suffering.
Look at little boys with tzitzis and head coverings but no Peyos.
Look at beautiful young ladies who are bald.
Look at their parents sitting next to them crying and daveinig.
Go to another hospital and find people with all sorts of debilitating diseases.
How could someone not want mashiach. Illness and pain and suffering will be eradicated.
Lastly, go to Sharei tzeddek’s nursery and imagine that if mashiach came hospitals would be just birthing centers. Full of happy and healthy mommies taking care of healthy children.
Imagine all the oncologists becoming OBGYN because that’s the only open job.
atlossParticipantPopa, in this case the patient is not refusing to drink. he has a medical condition that makes it hard for him to drink. he needs the line placed to get the proper nutrients.
remember that drinking on yom kippur is asur deorisa as well, its just that when someone’s life is in danger either a) there is a mitzva to be mechalel and save him or b) the mitzva is temporarily voided while you do what you need to do to save him
if someone is severely dehydrated, forcing them to drink is actually dangerous. but if one is at such a point of dehydration than they need to be hospitalized either way
atlossParticipantI know this is an old thread but I was looking for something else and came across it.
The comments above are grossly mistaken. There are minor conditions that require one to be well hydrated and the person is not a sakana without it.
What if someone does not have a colon and is prone to dehydration. They are not a choleh sheyesh bo sakana? But they still may need fluids to prevent dehydration and potential Uti or kidney infections.
What about patients who receive non critical infusions such as iron or biologics ( remicade…)
It is not as simple as it is made to be.
Furthermore, R, Moshe ztl does not Chas veshalom need out haskama and our agreement.
