The problem with fingernails and 3 days before Shabbos is this (acc. to my understanding): Fingernails are constantly growing. However, in order that it should not be noticeably longer than when you cut it to a length that looks nice, the cutting should be within three days before Shabbos. It apparently takes three days to be noticeable, not to start growing.

My rebbi told me over shabbos that R’ Chaim Ozer, when he was a child, rode a goat into cheder. He was wild as a child.

Back on what was being said earlier about playing as a kid:

Today, someone told me that R’ Chaim Kanievsky said about himself that he didn’t learn well until the age of 17 and that if it weren’t for his connection (Steipler/Chazon Ish), he would have been thrown out of yeshiva as a child.

Please verify this story if possible. But even if it goes unverified, the point is still there.

Teen, what do you think the source of being a “good person” is? The Torah Hakedoshah!

The source of all morals, even those we possess “naturally,” is the Torah. Chazal tell us that Histakel B’Oraisa V’Bara Alma. This means that Hashem based the world (nature) on the Torah. That is the only reason we have natural morals. So if all our morals of being a good person are based on the Torah, we should follow all (that we can) of the morals the Torah sets forth for us. This sounds demanding, but only Hashem understands you’re exact situation, and only He will be able to judge you.

Regarding parents: Theoretically, they all want the best for you. Some parents are missing basic parenting skills and I don’t know you or your parents (I think :)). What you said about pushing beliefs being counterproductive may be true, but every child must be dealt with differently. Some children may respond properly to this treatment but I disagree that it is always counterproductive. I do agree that parents must know who to push and how much to push, how to push, and who not to push at all. Unfortunately, not all parents understand this and push their children off further.

I give you and your parents a brocha that you should learn to understand each other and love Yiddishkeit.

I did a chessed for the entire world. I learned a blatt Gemara.

All these chasadim are beautiful. I think perhaps, ‘altz’ middos, it would be better to mention chasadim we saw others do or know that others did…

Talking about our own greatness seems a little improper, imho.

Are you sure you have the 13 ikrim straight?

The gedolim don’t have to speak out against everything.

They are good at knowing what to speak out against, they don’t HAVE to speak out against anything. Their presence in this world is good enough. See Sanhedrin 99b towards bottom. They definitely know better than YOU.

First of all, on these threads we are talking to everyone, as if making a speech, and of course one may give a speech to the opposite gender.

Second of all the problem with talking to the opposite gender is tznius/flirting. This is clearly not happening on a yeshivish website with amazing moderators.

Are you saying the you know rabbiofberlin personally?

    Are you making a joke?

Or is this not your first screen name, and rabbi of berlin suggested it on YW itself?

If it’s a joke, please explain your name.

I chose my name because I feel our main focus here on YW should be the praise of the Jews. We are a great nation dedicated to Hashem.

Besides, it’s hard to argue with someone with such a complimentary name. 🙂

A man walks into a bar and asks for a drink of water. The bartender instead takes out a gun and aims it at the man. The man said “thank you” and walked out.

Try to clarify the situation so it makes sense by asking questions.

I will respond to yes or no questions until I gotta go, when I will give the answer if it wasn’t figured out.
