The fact that you need to ask a shailoh doesn’t mean it’s a reason put a “bad mark” on the person.

The big deal you’re talking about is the breaking part not the effect it should have.

An amicable broken engaement without a tnoyim ISNT (I can caps too :))a big deal.

“What changed that couldnt be determined”? A lot, let’s face it (many) people don’t know their fiance well when they get engaged. heck , people are married for years and get divoced “what changed” is a silly question.

After discussing it with my Doctor I don’t believe the lack of knowledge is with doctors rather it’s the parents.

Feivel, why is fear(of the unknown when the knowledge is out there)good?

In our rush to get married people sometimes get engaged too soon depending on the circumstances it’s not a big deal.

Say a couple goes out 8 times and then they break it off, no biggie. That same couple if they got engaged after 6 dates would still break it off, there’s no reason to hold it against them.

Because of their size and the fact that they’re directly involved/affected by the happenings they -should- get involved. however, if they lose site of the communities needs or only care for the needs of a few instead of the klal then people will turn on them and not follow their suggestions.

If there’s enough of a divide or they (hypothetically) alienate the people that are working so they start giving less to the local mosdos, it will change.*

*hypothetical example not saying thats the case.

I appreciate your response but my point wasn’t “to deride the caution of those one disagrees with”. You can disagree but most of the issues in the above posts were based on a)lack of knowledge on the vaccine b)misinformation and C) fear.

They can not force people to vote. they at worst make suggestions and people follow thats not “Robin Hood” thats democracy and the power of a voting-bloc.

I posted this on page 1 but apparently people only read the last few posts.

Its not a new vaccine. Its the same flu shot as always the only difference is the strain of flu put into the shot which changes constantly with the virus out there now.

There are no new unknown side effects because the parts of the vaccine with side effects have been around for years.

Health is 100% right. My great grandmoether OB”M used to say in yiddish “who would believe that they would come out with a way to stop labor pain and who would believe people wouldnt take it”.

Oomis15 I dont know how many doctors you have spoken to but I know my Doctor and many others that are giving it. They cant make them fast enough which means people are taking it.

As I posted earlier it is the same flu shot as any other the only difference is the starin of flu in the shot. And as Charliehall so eloquently wrote the biggest fear that people have with the shot is based on a purposely false study.

Pretty much. Its mostly just peoples fear of anything related to swine flu.

Speak to your doctor, I’m sure they’ll be more knowledgeable than I.

    WebMD

Is the swine flu vaccine brand new? Yes and no. The 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccine is made exactly the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine, by the same manufacturers using the same materials — except for one shiny new piece.

What has changed is the piece of the virus the vaccine uses to prime the immune system.

Vaccine experts tell WebMD this change isn’t all that new. Every couple of years or so, a new variant of a seasonal flu virus comes along. When that happens, a “new” vaccine is made using the relevant part of the variant virus.

It’s been tested just like any other flu shot.

Every year the flu shot is adjusted for the current strain this is the same shot just for H1N1.

    from WebMD

“Approved vaccines — including the 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccine — are calculated to be much, much less risky than the diseases they prevent. For example, out of every million people who get a flu shot, one or two will get a serious neurological reaction called Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS).

But flu itself causes serious problems, including GBS, in far more than two in a million cases. And since a large proportion of the population will get swine flu, the vaccine risk is far smaller than the disease risk.”

its a flu shot like any other just for the H1N1 strain. Why wouldnt you give it to your kids?

    I gave it my kids.

I dont get the fear people have for it, it seems more than other vaccines. What is the fear?

    Thank you in advance.

arc: plonie did not single out one place. He said:

Why do camps like Camp Aguda play any music at all? [emphasis added].

That sentence doesn’t even imply that Camp Agudah plays music. Camps like Camp Agudah do, not necessarily Camp Agudah.

Haifa: I’ll respectfully disagree to me it reads: Why do camps, like Agudah….

A friends, brothers, kid, needed shoes and he didnt have the money to buy them. during shma koleinu, he said the tefila for parnasah and had in mind money for his kids shoes. as soon as Mincha was over he met a relative who said “I never gave you a baby present” and gave him a 200 nis bill more than enough to cover the cost of shoes.

I didnt get any award at graduation. You want to know why- I’ll tell you, because by night seder I ran to check scores by recess I played ball. The guy who won he learned while he ate lunch and he did his english homework and listened in class.

Would my parents have been proud if I’d have gotten it, yes, but I didn’t deserve it.

That doesnt mean I havent “made it”.
