they probably went to local non jewish beer seller and purchased one of half dozen brands of beer not distributed by the jewish owned distributor.

According to the audio posted by YWN. 75% of all beer of particular brands sold in supermarkets and other venues in the NY area moves through the distributor in question. Half dozen brands that are not sold by this company are listed by the CRC.

“So people in the NYC area can’t just go without beer until Shavuos?”

Should we substitute wine, scotch or bourbon at a shalom zachar? Should we tell women not to give birth to boys between pesach and shavuos?

I listened to part of the shiur osted by YWN. Rabbi elefant of the OU said rather clearly, it was NOT known who the owner of this beer distributor was until this year. He also said, in this regard the OU follows the psak of Rav Solevetchik Z’l that the mechira in this particular scenario (not your garden variety mechira) is not a valid mechira. He also very clearly said, that this is a machlokes haposkim with recognized poskim on both sides of the issue and one should consult his own Rav what to do.

The CRC (williamsburg) listed half a dozen brands that are not distributed by this company and are not at issue here.

what do you think happens to most pesach products that dont sell? deep freeze till the next year. unless it is something they can put into the “gluten free” section.

“If it takes more than 3-5 seconds to go down your block it’s not hatzolah.”

This is probably true, however, I believe a contributing factor is that “our community”, for the most part, moves out of the way when hatzalah comes their way, sadly this is not true when it is “of of their” ambulances. Dont take my word for it. stick your fingers in your ears and open your eyes and watch what happens.

I dont think it is reasonable to tell anyone, of any gender to date anyone, no matter what their age.

I dont think it is unreasonable though, to make such a suggestion, if one is fully prepared to explain to the parties involved why it makes sense.

“So would you say the same thing about the Missionaries that go around?

Yes, I would. some are “better” than others. I wouldn’t rate “missionaries” as a group based on the handful of interactions Iv’e had with a missionary.

“I mean maybe X-ianty is right – because most people in the US practice it?

For someone who was not familiar with any religion, that would be a fair statement. However, we know that just because most people believe something it doesnt make it true. Most people in NYC, for example, call 911 in an emergency, not 230-1000, doesnt make them right either.

” This is just an illustration about your Genius Statement!”

Actually, this reflects your foolishness. Your statement about missionaries has nothing to do with your 2nd statement about the majority of people and how they worship. I dont believe you are a foolish person, but in your disdain for hatzala you are grasping at the silliest of “arguments” to try and “prove” your point.

If c’v you are ever faced with a medical emergency, dont call them. It is very simple.

    “it’s not about shallowness…
    it’s about the society.”

Society can be shallow. Anyone involved with shidduchim, whether for themselves, their child or as a shadchan knows this 1st hand.

I learned in yeshiva (and even bichavrusa with one) with several Rabbeim of YTY, they all wore white shirts only on shabbos and yom tov (or for occasions that called for “shabbos clothes – such as a simcha or a date). Now, they would lose their job faster than you can say “get out”, if they wore blue shirts, they wore in their 20s.

If the Rambam understands the terms ehrliche and foodie the way I do, he would be in agreement with me, the 2 are mutually exclusive. since, I dont know how the Rambam interprets either term, I offer no opinion how he would respond to the OP.

“Why don’t we make every man and woman sign a legal document before getting married that they commit to giving/accepting a get (subject to Beis Dins agreement)”

The chasson already stupulates under the chuppa that he is marrying the woman subject to “das moshe viyisroel”. this statement is witnessed often by several hundred people, including two who are designated as witnesses specifically by the chosson. I wonder when a beis din with some teeth (sadly, there is no such beis din which has given rise to the questionable practices of prenups, etc) would tell either party, you are not acting in accordance with “das moshe viyisroel” and we are going to annul your kiddushin retroactively since you violated the condition. that would create quite a stir, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

the minhag in spink and komarna used to be that the chosson EATS some portion of the seuda by the “cheder nashim”. (rav zinner brings this down in his sefer), I dont know if that minhag has changed with time.

the generally accepted minhag is that “yichud” is nisuin, however, many meforshei Rambam understand that any act that demonstrates that they are husband and wife is nisuin. walking hand in hand into the seuda would certainly qualify as an act that demonstrates they are husband and wife.

By many, the custom is that the chosson walks out to escort the kallh to the chuppa (IE nisuin of old, where the kallah was brought into the rishus of the chosson), others dont consider the chuppa the nisuin, but, the later parts of the wedding ceremony including yichud and perhaps the hall where the seuda is taking place.

By trolls the minhag is that the chosson escorts the kallah, as evidenced by shrek.

To the OP. why do you have to explain anything to the girls? the Rma is clear thj\at all household members light (which the mishna berura says means everyone, except the wife since ishto kigufo). Unless of course, this family follows the mechaber that only the baal habayis lights in which case not only the girls in the family, but the boys dont either. If there is a family minhag that is not like either the mechaber, or the rma as explained by the mishna berura, then the father should explain this family minhag. If he is an am haaretz, let him ask someone who does understand the reason for the family minhag. perhaps there is NO reason and it is a minhag shtus to begin with. is there a chiyuv for a family member to follow a family minhag shtus that goes against the shulchan aruch? maybe. I would ask my rav the answer to this last question.
